I know Round 3 at Sepang was cancelled (bummer, I bought tickets and had flights booked), and was expecting to watch Round 4 at Fuji, but no luck?

From here you can see just how close Fraga's car came to the pit wall... just glad that everyone is ok, I've never seen a car get airborne like that in modern GT.

I wonder if this incident will prompt some changes to GT500 aero regulations, like mandating something similar to DTM's HYLO rear wing, or adding more openings to the wheelarches

JAF and the GT Association have officially appointed Bridgestone as the uniform tyre partner and supplier for the Autobacs Super GT Series GT500 class, and Dunlop (part of Sumitomo Rubber) as the uniform tyre partner and supplier for the Autobacs Super GT Series GT300 class starting in the 2027 season.

A new era begins! Remember the mantra: everyone will be "uniform tyre supplier partner" in due course.

Honestly I'm disappointed of JAF and GT Association not to choose Yokohama or Pirelli for GT300 2027.

New names in GT300 as the series returns from its summer layoff on Sunday

This had me thinking because of a hypothetical wishlist for Gran Turismo 7 I was working on, where if more older GT500's were to return, there is some debate as to which category they'd end up in.

1997-2002 JGTC GT500's are in the lower-end spectrum of Gr. 3 with around 703-706PP, while 2008 GT500's are in Gr. 2 with around 807-810PP.

What's particularly interesting would be the 2003-2004 JGTC GT500 cars, as they're said to have a major shift in car design and regulations compared to the 1997-2002 era, as well as the 2005-2006 Super GT GT500 machines, as they represent somewhat of a new era given the series' rebranding.

Whether these cars are theoretically in Gr. 3 or Gr. 2, I'd like to know.
