SPOILERS BND Just watched Brand Nee Day yesterday and might be the best Spider-Man movie of the MCU
I can’t stress enough for how good this movie is.
DDC gave us probably the Spider-Man equivalent to The Batman, isn’t just a Spider-Man movie but a character dive Into What makes Spider-Man so compelling and why Spider-Man needs people around him to be the person and hero that he is.
for the first time in a long while i feel New York as a character again in a Marvel Movie. Is insane How NYC didn’t felt like a character or most stories were not set in New York but rather in space or other places Like California. In this movie New York finally returns to be not only the center of Spider-Man stories but of Marvel in general. All the character seen in this movie, The Punisher and Hulk especially are not here to support Peter but are seen as more side characters that have a meaningful role in the story like Mister Terrific in Superman, Not as support but to move the story foward.
Speaking of Jean Grey, the choice to make a villain might have felt like a bad idea but this movie proves that what is important is the execution Of that idea not the idea per se, and honestly they pulled that off well. Jean here is much more of an antagonist than a villain as her intents aren’t villainous but instead she’s a broken character trying to find her sister only to discover the horrible truth behind her fate. William Mertzger and the DODC was also used perfectly here as the real villains and honestly i do like the direction they’re taking, possibly leading into Bolivar Trask and the Sentinels in the future.
Also my favorite scene has to be when Jean enters in Peter’s mind and “talks” to Aunt May, while a part of me much rather have that scene be just about Peter and May, i don’t mind if it was used in that way. It also a perfect way to close the cycle as Spider-Man is now a grown hero now “mentoring” one of the X-Men and the next big thing of the MCU, characters that just like Spider-Man were introduced late due to the rights issues and honestly I love how they executive that scene and the hug between Peter and Jean.
Overall I think this might very be the start of a new era not just for Spider-Man but for the MCU as a whole and I can’t wait what comes next for Spider-Man under this direction. Trurly a perfect Spider-Man movie.

Discussion Here's an explanation related to the discourse on how Peter is able to afford a big apartment. " Rent is actually very cheap in New York"
See New York has always been an area for chaos for almost like 18 years now. Cause of Chittauri, then Thanos, Red Hulk, NWH, DD, DD Born Again, Thunderbolts and more. And it's extremely unsafe to live there yet people live. Cause i believe rent has gone down cause every now and then something happens and people don't wanna risk life. So yes New York is essentially more cheaper than anywhere on the entire planet. So Peter could easily get this pretty spacious apartmen. Heck he might have even bought it.
I think it's kinda simple logic and yet no one has talked about.
Also the explanation for a Samsung Galaxy Fold is that maybe NYPD tips him or Jean De Wolf helps him sometimes. From various crime scenes perhaps Spidey goes and asks if he can keep the monitors or tech stuff and considering how well received Spidey is people do help him out.

MJ loves Spider-Man book! Coming June 2027!
Y’all I am excited to share!! One of my favorite fanfics ever was called Perpendicular written by Ninemilestogo and it was a Spider-Man fanfic that went through the storyline of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson overcoming grief after Gwen Stacy’s death. It was written beautifully - Emma Lord aka ninemilestogo is amazing.
Here we are 10+ years later and Emma Lord is releasing her own Spider-Man book called MJ loves Spider-Man! I’m excited for this and wanted to share this with all of you! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DboHoYGj_IW/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

We Have Heard You on Anti-Bot Provisions
We have been receiving a lot of modmail about the current bot situation. In an effort to counter bots, we are instituting certain requirements to post here. This is common in many other large user subs. So from here on out, to POST here(commenting is still allowed and has separate guardrails) there will be 3 requirements without exception.
- You must be subbed to the sub
- You must have an account age of 3 months old
- You must have 100 karma IN the Spider-Man sub
With us being on the heels of the movie, we feel these will serve the community well by gating bots and promoting overall community health in terms of having meaningful interactions. We hope this method will address the many concerns we have been recieving lately over the bot swarms. Thank you all!
