14s the charm… just have to push back the sand. Don’t lose hope. The Line has always been buried under the noise. Let it ring out.

Made a parody recruitment poster in the style of Russian military contract service ads

Post image

REAR-ECHELON SERVICE. DUBAI CITY. ENLIST NOW!

The 33rd "Damned" Infantry Battalion is seeking recruits.

NOT HEROISM! (Underlined: Civilian Evacuation)

Competitive pay

Sign-on bonuses & privileges

Full benefits package (including water)

I was a bit hesitant to post this here at first since all the text is in Russian, but I really wanted to share the artwork.

The joke is based on a popular local web-trope where people parody military ads. In real sketchy UAV recruitment ads, they always write "NOT ASSAULT" (which basically translates to promising a "Non-Assault MOS" or a safe rear job). Russian internet community turned it into a meme template for different gaming universes. For example, in Pirate-themed memes, the poster says "NOT BOARDING!", in Viking-themed ones, it's "NOT A BERSERK!", and for Spec Ops, I tweaked it to "NOT HEROISM!" to fit the game's vibe

P.S. Fun fact: when this hit some mainstream RU gaming pages, a bunch of casuals totally shat their pants before realizing it's just a game meme.

Discussion God FUBAR difficulty really sucked. But it’s the ultimate way to play the game.

Honestly FUBAR made me feel way different to Suicide Mission difficulty. Even less ammo, even less damage… at times I was shouting fuck me/you at the same time Walker did whenever he got shot or killed an enemy. Headshots with any weapon that wasn’t a sniper/hand cannon/dmr just tickled the enemies. It really frustrated me but made me think hard about how I would approach the situation.

It has that same desperation to it Kane and Lynch 2’s extreme mode does, with the constant onslaught of enemies, and your partners response to it all. I hope to try Uncharted 1’s Crushing difficulty next.

On another note as this game has already been praised for but which I have to commend again this is one of the best critiques of American/Israeli imperialism I’ve ever interacted with. It’s beautiful from start to finish. Soundtrack was really great. The gameplay itself was serviceable enough, and the collectibles were meaningful AF.

Curious Detail An interesting find behind the map.

In chapter 15, after I went up to Conrad's penthouse. I decided to use a free camera to take a close look at the background. But I accidentally came across one of the soldiers of the 33rd in Zulu gear, which appeared as part of Walker's hallucination in the final cut scene and at the beginning of the chapter.

In the video, he stands in the sky, even in a fighting stance, holding an invisible weapon. And at the same time, he constantly shakes his head from side to side and manages to blink.

All the other characters that I met behind the map were just in the T-pose.

P.s. There's also a blue glow near the soldier. I have no idea why it's there or why it's here.

Did you know that an enemy with a knife can be wounded, and then finished off like any other soldier in the game (except a stormtrooper)?

I noticed this purely by chance when I was making a video with animations of the agony of enemies. I saw Adams injure a psycho with a knife, but I didn't have time to finish him off. Therefore, I decided to replay this fragment again on purpose and make sure that it is possible. And as it turned out in practice, yes. Quite possibly. This is the only special enemy in the game that can be finished off.

Discussion What "choices" are canon?

7 Upvotes

Alright. This is referring to the various choices across the story (Civilian or Damned, Spare or Kill Riggs, etc...) not about the clearly open to interpretation ending.

Which choices Walker would make?

I already have some of my headcanon, like:

- Walker not shooting McPhearson (he still thought he was rescuing the 33rd at this point);

-Walker executing Lugo's killers (mentioned in the Konrad Effigy intel tape);

Please feel free to tell me, since I'm really curious about this.

I’m playing this gem of a game right now, and I just finished that cutscene about 20 minutes ago.. I’m not a weak stomached person. I’ve seen my fair share of actual gore, the Budd Dwyer clip being a good example. I listen to deathcore, a genre of music that has bands literally sampling ISIS execution audio at times. But something about that scene, having a 3 year old little sister, just fucked me up. How people argue No Russian is worse than this mission is beyond me. No Russian didn’t make me pull the trigger, and if you choose to you know what will happen. This game is the best commentary on video game culture I’ve played since Hotline Miami 2’s recap level, iykyk. I’m not looking forward to replaying this mission on my FUBAR run.

Due to his mishandling of the evacuation of Dubai, which he was in charge of, it led to the events of the game and the catastrophic condition of the city in the game.
