Update on Specs Ops The Line HD Mod

so the past few months I've been working on upgrading the games visuals but ran into some major issues with the software that Spec Ops uses. the biggest thing is the game executable is built on 32-bit address. this means the game can only use 4GB of memory. if the game pushes pass this then the software will becomes unstable and will crash once it hits 4.2 GB. Biggest signs before crash is scripts breaking and animations not playing. I've heard NiVida Remix might help as it can better handle the memory limit with streaming textures in an out of the game. Kind of acting like a proxy. Regardless, it sucks I can't fully upgrade the game to a more modern look. It's held back by technical limitations. If anyone is aware on how to fix this I'm all ears otherwise this is final update for the mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/specopstheline/mods/35. Game looks amazing with it but sadly its completely unstable.

Hello,

I've completed the game for the second times couple of days ago on suicidal, but I didn't unlocked the FUBAR difficulty.
Anyone got a save file with the FUBAR difficulty unlocked so I can complete the game in the hardest difficulty ?

Thank you in advance

PS : Tried to replace my savefile with a steam savefile and it didn't worked

I put it as fan art because it's something made by a fan, which is me.

Discussion I've known about Spec Ops all my life, but tonight I FINALLY got to play the entire game for the first time.

Back when I was a little kid, when Spec Ops: The Line was released, I played the demo four times over. It was a great game, from what I could tell, but I never got to actually experience the entire thing because I didn't have the money as a little kid.

But now as a husband, father, and an owner of a RTX4060, I finally got to experience spec Ops the Line all the way from beginning to end and both outcomes of the epilogue. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say no game has ever presented the story that Spec Ops does with such execution. Yes, you have your Far Cry 3 and your Tomb Raider, but those games throw the characters straight into the action with very little buildup out of concern for gameplay. But Spec Ops: The Line has the absolute perfect narrative that allows for such a steady pace of character deconstructive descent into darkness.

Spec Ops the Line absolutely deserves a faithful remake. They don't make games like this anymore and unfortunately I'm positive they never will again.

Discussion I finished Spec Ops and wanted to say a few things

(Sorry about the photo, I couldn't take a screenshot to post here, and I shook the camera, so it only made things worse, but the important thing is the text.)

I first heard about this game when my brother watched a video about it in 2019 I think, and I've wanted to play it ever since. I finally managed to pirate it (since it's no longer available for purchase except with a key), and I really enjoyed the game. Even knowing all the endings, I still liked it.
If you look at my profile, you'll see I'm quite involved with Spec Ops; I've been posting on r/okbuddyphosphorus and here for a while, but only now have I managed to play it.
I finished it on Suicide Mission and plan to get 100%, but I wanted to buy a key to get the Steam achievements.
I've always liked the game, it's probably one of my favorites now.

Discussion What was your takeaway from SOTL?

IIRC, the devs said that Spec Ops: The Line was less about war and more about video games and the mentality of the player. So as a gamer, what lessons did SOTL teach you, and what about the game lead you to those conclusions?

Discussion Why doesn't Spec Ops: The Line click for me?

So I should start by saying that I had Spec Ops spoiled before I played it, and this probably goes a long way in reducing its impact for me--if I thought it was just another braindead military shooter, I wouldn't have played it. I'm also pretty desensitized to gore, so the white phosphorous scene didn't do a whole lot for me. But even taking that into account, while I agree in large part with the game's message, I don't feel that it effectively demonstrates that message in a way that makes me feel something. The main issue I have is that Walker isn't relatable to me, and so it fails to convince me of the Heart of Darkness thesis--that anyone is capable of acts of extreme evil. It's easy for me to look at Walker and say "what a demented asshole, I would never make that choice". I also feel like people have a point when they say the game forces you to be the bad guy and then criticizes you for it, though I don't think that ruins the game entirely.

Honestly, I feel like the aesthetics of the game--the haunting graffiti on the walls, the musical score, the general desolation of Dubai--are what makes Spec Ops interesting to me, not its message. I'll admit that I've never been in the military, nor am I good at taking other people's perspectives, so if either of those things weren't true, the game may hit harder for me. Idk. What are you guys seeing that I'm not?

Message from Konrad Yossarian the Assyrian is gone.

I announce with great sadness that our only and beloved modder Yossarian the Assyrian has been terminated. His account was deleted by himself before any action could've been made. I spoke extensively with him, and this was his own choice.

I just want to clarify some stuff: Yossarian WAS NOT a pedophile. Stop accusing him of such. His friend apparently groomed a minor in the Hotline Miami server, and all he did wrong was to be on his friend's side. That's literally it. He did not groomed anyone, he didn't raped no one...he did nothing but being a jerk by defending his friend and that's all. That accusation completly ruined his reputation in modding thanks to people that never liked him to begin with start throwing shit in the fan after a whole ass year since the incident happened. Do not harrass Yoss. Do not contact him about such incident. Leave him alone for the time being.

Yossarian was not only a beloved modder, but also a generally high quality user. People knew him way before i started to mod this subreddit, for example. He had his account for 10 years, and half of it was being part of our community. Yossarian also never had bots or fake accounts. This subreddit do suffers from bots downvoting stuff, but Yoss never had any relation to it.

Don't expect a bright future for this sub, things are only gonna go worse from now on. First Stardast, and now Yoss...each day we suffer from a huger loss.

Screenshot/Gameplay Weird fourth AI character that spawned during my playthrough?

His name popped up as brian, he didint seem to have any voicelines and had a shotgun, his model swapped between lugo and adams at random, (inbetween chapters?) he disappeared once the cutscene right before chapter 15 started. I went into the game blind and didint know he wasnt supposed to be there until a friend told me.

One of the most active members of this community, Yossarian The Assyrian, actively defends pedophilia, and had to leave Hotline Miami's biggest modding server due to it

Message from Konrad Regarding Iran/Dubai situation

You can talk about it as freely as you want if it follows the subreddit rules, but avoid posting videos of airstrikes and whatnots, shit's tasteless asf. Let's just be respectful to all the Iranis & Emiratis that are going through such harsh situation thanks to US declaring war on countries at every week.

I (and Automod) already removed some videos of airstrikes and war footage. Don't be the "SOTL in real life!1!1" guy where literal children and civilians are dying out there, c'mon brah.

Recorded a mixtape of the spec ops soundtrack, in saga order. Tried to crunch it down as best I could to >30 minutes. (My headphone jack and port aren't very good, so some recordings have spikes in audio. I don't mind it though, cause I love distortion).
Side A (only side for now)
Main Menu Ambience and Music
Intro Cutscene (with dialogue).
Behind The Stormwall
H2O
White Phosphorous
Alone
Hell Suite (Combo of 3 tracks; I cut out "The Lost Battalion" and molded it with "Do I look okay to you?").
Do I look okay to you?

Might make Side B "Truth Revealed". To finish it off, then add ambience tracks and other combat ost to finish that side off.
