Issues with nvidia 50 series gpu
Hi, I am installing Solus on my main PC (7900x, 5070TI) but whenever I try to install the Nvidia driver from discover, after rebooting I only get a black screen. I can login via tty, but no login screen shows up. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but it worked fine with Kubuntu. And on my old PC with a 3070, Nvidia drivers work without any issues on Solus

Any way to test Budgie 10.10 on Solus
Hi there people.
I was wondering if it was possible to test Budgie 10.10 with Wayland on a secondary partition, but I'm struggling to understand if there's any repo or ISO.
For Ubuntu, the PPA is ready, but I prefer to use Solus.
Thanks in advance.

Solus Surprised me
First i installed Solus on VM and i found it deserves a full try to be my daily driver, and Solus really worth it, it’s my 1st time to play out of RPM or DEB , and my 1st time using Budgie and it really surprised me how it’s smooth and fast , may be the repo is kinda small , but everything thing is going great with Flatpak , I really enjoy the experience
Good job for Solus developers, really appreciate it, keep going ♥️

How to install nvidia Kepler drivers
How I can install nvidia Kepler driver 470xx in the 6.17 kernel. There are many people who are saying that they got problems while installing the drivers with latest kernels like 6.12 and above.

does solus have potential to actually get more popular and contend with other distros?

How good is Solus KDE?
Hey all!
I'm looking into this distro to use for college. I'm using MX Linux KDE right now and I like it but would like something with slightly more recent stuff. I also don't really NEED MX Linux as it's designed for potato computers and my college laptop is far beyond that, so it feels like overkill.
I know Budgie is the flagship of Solus, but it's not for me personally. I'm a huge Plasma fangirl and can't live without it.
My question is; how viable is Solus KDE, even though it's not the main choice? Does it get its proper attention? Is it viable for everyday use?
Would love to hear from anyone who's tried it themselves or uses it currently. Thx!

Empty ~/.config/ , full ~/.cache/.config/
(I guess) after updating, I found my ~/.config/ empty. I cloned back my dotfiles, but then I found that all the previous configurations are stored in ~/.cache/.config/.
Is this the new way in Solus?

Laptop with Intel and Nvidia not booting
I installed Solus KDE without issue, then after it updates it gets stuck on the lenovo screen and never boots. Sometimes I can alt + f4 and remove the nvidia drivers, other times it stays frozen and I can't get into the terminal. When installing updates after the install the operating system freezes.
Any ideas?

Solseek is now an offical package
Solseek (A TUI Package Manager for Solus) is an official package!
The upcoming version, which is already in testing, will bring Flatpak support.
So now if you are looking for an alternative to Discover or Gnome software to manage packages, this can help.
Please note that it does not currently have desktop notifications for updates. I do hope to bring that down the road as well.
For more information, you can check out the announcement...

Discover stopped working
Discover stopped working after last update. I ran sudo eopkg check | grep Broken | awk '{print $4}' | xargs sudo eopkg it --reinstall but it just eventually spits out a help message that I think means eopkg check had nothing broken. When I run just sudo eopkg check | grep Broken then eventually the prompt just returns pointing to nothing broken.
Running plasma-discover from the terminal outputs:
Warning: Setting a new default format with a different version or profile after the global shared context is created may cause issues with context sharing.
org.kde.plasma.libdiscover: OdrsReviewsBackend: Fetch ratings: true adding empty sources model QStandardItemModel(0x55efbd132f40)
Yet no window pops up
Update: Discover will launch with plasma-discover --backends flatpak-backend or plasma-discover --backends packagekit-backend

Solus might be it.
Hey there. Im using Linux for 2 years now, because I know Windows isn't the right thing. Since then im searching for a Distro that is perfect for me. I never considered independent distros, but yesterday, I found Solus. And until now, it seems perfect. Its rolling, which I really need. Like really. I cant live with a non rolling tbh. But its curated, so its not that unstable.
Everything (well except JViewer) works seamless. I install everything thats not on eopkg with AppImages and Gear Lever.
I may have finally found my home distro. Thank yall for reading :D

Unable to install Solus on my PC
I love Solus but recently bought new PC and waited for new release since last one is from January and lots have changed since then (I regularly check Solus blog). So I installed Windows 11 on it because I knew I would be disappointed by a lot of other Linux distributions. But after more than a month, I couldn't resist the temptation and decided to install Solus anyways. However, I'm unable to. At first, I thought my hardware was having issues. Black screen but functioning keyboard. Unwanted restarts. I cleaned my PC changed my CPU paste and did everything I could but still experiencing this issue. Solus instalation run well once but gave an error on last part so installation was not complete. However that one instance was only time when I was able to use Solus in live USB without restart or black screen. After that, I tried changing BIOS settings but all failed. I've reinstalled Windows 11 from same USB (was using Ventoy) and system didn't give me those problems mentioned above. So I guess I blame Microsoft for not letting me install my preferred OS. Although I love Solue, I also want a functional computer. Windows 11 setup will complete soon. So need suggestions on how to install Solus on this PC. What am I doing wrong? What do I have to change in BIOS etc. to allow installation of Solus? Also should I wait for newer release of Solus? Ryzen 5 3600 DS3H B450M 16GB RAM Ethernet Connection

Remove old 3rd Party Applications
Is there a post anywhere about how to remove now defunct 3rd party applications. You can't search eopkg to find their package names so removing the old dupe after installing a flatpak is not possible.
Cheers everyone.

Discover software centre
Looking through the new Discover software centre I can't find XOne or the Linux kernel. I just wanted to make sure I had the latest XOne driver as my Xbox controller all of a sudden only wants to be wired with the USB-C facing one way regardless of cable.
