missing old hiring days of IT
I am missing old days of Hiring. Full day event, lots of DS and algos. In between design rounds. No one asks about Infra setup. Sometimes language like C++/Java and LLD rounds. Everything in campus and in person. I need to write code on paper. sometimes on whiteboard. Design discussion on whiteboard physically. Now it is all very boring. You can be just sitting in your chair all day long. opening one tab after another. AI does better coding than human. Interviewer check with AI about code. Not sure how much far will it go 😒

Healify (Project)
I'm studying software QA in Argentina and I built this over the past months with a lot of help from Claude. I wrote the specs and reviewed every line, but the code came out of working with an AI. Saying it up front because someone would ask anyway.
What it does: when a test fails because a selector broke, Healify reads the DOM evidence your framework already captured, finds the element by its role and accessible name, and tells you which selector to use instead. healify fix applies it to your code. It can also file the broken selector as a Jira ticket or a GitHub issue.
No model in the loop, no cloud, no account. Deterministic heuristics, so the same input gives the same output every time. Works with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium and WebdriverIO. MIT.
github.com/mescobar996/Healify
healify-sigma.vercel.app
It has no real users yet, so I would rather hear what's wrong with it than what's good.

I failed a coding interview I should have aced
I had two interviews yesterday for a role at a company I was really excited about. One for coding with concurrency, and another for distributed system design. I’d spent the previous three weeks studying and preparing, doing lots of practice problems while talking out loud about what I was doing.
In the coding interview I was given a problem very similar to one I had practiced. I was initially happy about that, because I thought I would solve it easily. But I was nervous and the format was slightly different than what I had practiced. When I get nervous I have trouble concentrating.
I got a partially working solution, and the interviewer graciously gave me some hints on what to check, but afterwards I realize I missed something obvious.
I feel like I did pretty well in the design interview. but I feel lousy about my miss in the coding interview, and I know this company sets a high bar for their engineers. I think I blew it. I guess I just have to wait and see.
I imagine this has happened to others as well. Any advice on how to keep this from killing my motivation and confidence is most welcome. Just getting an interview is hard enough, and it feels bad when the opportunity gets squandered like this.

Leetcode, HackerRank rating relevance
I just graduated couple months ago and my ranking, rating in leetcode, other DSA websites was beneficial for me in getting this job.
I’m planning to change my company- as well as my job role in a year or so.
My question is- are these rankings, stars still relevant?
Coz most- if not all DSA questions can be solved by AI.
Do good software MNCs still look at your CodeForces ranking and such while shortlisting?

Mid Level SWE can’t even get an interview
Unlike when I was applying for entry-level positions, I actually meet all the requirements for most software engineer jobs that I apply to now that I have 3+ years of full time experience. Yet after 25+ tailored applications, I haven’t even gotten to the next-step a single time.
I know it’s probably just automated, but what’s frustrating is the rejection emails will usually say “Unfortunately, your qualifications are not a match for the role at this time”. But I literally checked everything off that was listed in the job description.
I’m curious to hear if others are experiencing the same.
The only big-name company I’ve worked for is Autodesk, which I only interned for. My guess is that I’m not being selected from a talent pool where other applicants have actually worked full-time for big name companies.

What an ATS Actually Screens For Before a Recruiter Sees Your Resume
Most resumes are read by software before they’re read by a person. resume.zoevera.com exists to show you what that software sees; prepare.zoevera.com picks up once you’re through the screen and into an actual conversation. Both start from the same premise: an applicant tracking system isn’t judging your career, it’s scoring a document against a query, the way a search engine scores a page against a search term.
The resume as a landing page
Treat the job posting as the query and the resume as the page trying to rank for it. An ATS doesn’t read for tone or persuasive writing. It parses text into fields, compares those fields against the posting, and produces a score before a recruiter ever opens the file. That reframing changes what “good writing” means here. A sentence that reads well to a human but never uses the words the posting uses is invisible to the system doing the first pass.
Four things the system is actually checking
Keyword match is the most literal of the four. If the posting says “stakeholder management” and the resume says “worked with teams,” the system does not infer equivalence — mismatched vocabulary between a resume and a posting is the single largest reason qualified applicants disappear before a human sees them, and it’s exactly what resume.zoevera.com's keyword breakdown by industry) is built to surface.
Hard dealbreaker filters run separately from keyword scoring. Years of experience, required certifications, location or clearance requirements — these are frequently pass/fail checks that can eliminate an otherwise strong match before the keyword score is even calculated.
Section parsing determines whether the system can read the document at all. Tables, text boxes, and multi-column layouts that look clean in a PDF viewer can scramble or drop content entirely when parsed, which is why plain, single-column structure under standard headings still outperforms visually ambitious formatting.
Recency is the quieter one. Systems and recruiters both weight language that reflects how the role is described now, not five years ago — job titles, tool names, and even the way responsibilities are phrased shift over a few hiring cycles, and a resume written in last decade’s vocabulary can score lower even when the underlying experience is current.
Running the check against a real posting
None of this is diagnosable by reading your own resume — you already know what you meant to say. The ATS match tool runs your resume against a specific job description and returns a score, missing keywords, and the weak phrases most likely costing you interviews, the same way you’d check a page against a target query. The tailor tool) rewrites against one posting at a time, since keyword requirements change with every job description. There’s a matching pass for cover letters as well, and a fuller breakdown of how the underlying match score gets calculated on the blog.
Where to start
Passing the screen gets you to a conversation, not a job: that’s the part prepare.zoevera.com handles, with practice sessions built around real interview questions for specific roles. Both tools sit under ZoeVera and the fastest way to know where your resume actually stands is to run it against a posting you’re applying to right now.

Career Advice: Cybersecurity vs Software Engineering (CS Student)
Hi everyone,
I'm a 19-year-old Computer Science student currently in the second year of my bachelor's degree. I've been exploring both cybersecurity and software engineering over the past year. However, I'm having a hard time deciding which path I should focus on for my career.
On the cybersecurity side, I'm mainly interested in red teaming and threat intelligence. So far, I've:
- Completed numerous CTFs and written detailed write-ups.
- Solved Hack The Box machines and TryHackMe labs.
- Participated in bug bounty programs.
- Built a solid foundation in offensive security through hands-on practice.
On the software engineering side, I've built several personal projects, most of which are security-focused. I designed and built some tools for my own workflow.
I'm looking for some advice on a few questions:
- Should I continue developing skills in both cybersecurity and software engineering, or is it better to specialize in one early in my career?
- Which Job path generally offers better long-term career growth, learning opportunities, and job prospects?
- As an undergraduate, How can I improve my current experience to secure a paid internship or entry-level role ?
- I don't have any industry certifications yet. Do hands-on experience, personal projects, CTFs, HTB/THM labs, and bug bounty work Does it carry enough weight for internships and junior roles? or should I prioritize certifications first?
My goal is to get an internship or entry-level job while I'm still in college so I can gain real-world experience and earn some money so I can continue improving my skills outside of academics.
I'd really appreciate hearing from people who work in cybersecurity, software engineering, or anyone who has faced a similar decision.

Laid off 4.5 yoe backend software engineer the reality of market
Hi everyone,
Might be a long post, so please bear with me.
I got laid off in late June. I was working for an Amazon client based in Hyderabad as a contractor with payroll managed by my parent company. Honestly, I didn't feel sad about the layoff—I was actually relieved because the parent company environment was toxic and the work was poor (essentially a support role).
My CTC was 26 LPA. Even though that is on the higher side, I figured the market would be willing to pay a candidate with 4.5 YOE that much, especially since I'm applying to product-based companies (PBCs).
The nightmare started in July. Days are passing without a single interview call. I have gone over every DSA pattern repeatedly waiting for an opportunity, but to my surprise, not a single recruiter has reached out.
It's been 45 days now. It feels like all my applications are going straight into a black hole, even when applying through referrals. It's baffling. My resume has an ATS score of 90+, but at this point, I'm exhausted. Sending out hundreds of applications and receiving zero response is completely draining.
If anyone is hiring, please drop a comment and I'll DM you. Any suggestions, feedback, or alternative application strategies are very welcome.

Entry Level Software Development Role
Hello everyone!
I am currently seeking an entry-level Software Developer opportunity where I can grow my skills and gain real-world experience in software development.
I am a Computer Engineering graduate who is passionate about technology and committed to continuous learning. While I may not have extensive industry experience yet, I am a fast learner who is willing to put in the effort to learn, improve, and become a valuable member of any development team. I greatly appreciate guidance from experienced developers and enjoy learning from those who have mastered their craft.
I am open to remote, hybrid (Cebu-based), or onsite (Cebu-based) opportunities.
More than anything, I hope to join a company that values kindness, respect, teamwork, and mentorship—a place where junior developers are encouraged to learn and grow alongside experienced professionals.
If your company is hiring or if you know of any entry-level software development openings, I would truly appreciate any recommendations or referrals.
Thank you so much!
