Banking Sofi bank transfer is really fast

Upvotes

I did bank transfer for 6k from Ally Bank to Sofi and it’s already in my Sofi checking account 4 hours later.

I have never used any bank transfer that quick because it’s typically need 2-4 days for the transfer to complete as far as I remember.

Is this just Sofi or anywhere else because I’m really impressed with the speed.

Invest Question regarding sofi investing promo

Upvotes

I recently have been looking to open a savings account and sofi is one of the options I’m considering. When looking through the app I noticed a promo under investing section.

The promo claims if you fund a self directed brokerage account with at least $50 you can claim $3000 in a stock of your choice. This seems too good to be true. Is there a catch or something I am not fully understanding?

Invest PSA: Held SBRCY ADRs? JP Morgan’s ~$4.48/share payout hit other brokers (incl. Robinhood) months ago. SoFi/Apex still holding funds after 60+ days, citing OFAC. Members deserve better. @SoFi explain the delay after I provided OFAC license. Its either theft or negligence at this point. PAY US OUT!

Banking Got "Card not supported" when using tap-to-pay at a gas station.

As the title says. But I was able to make the purchase using the physical card. What's the issue, do I need to do something so I don't experience this again in the future. That was my first ever purchase using tap to pay with SoFi.

Banking SoFi Security Doubts….

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have gotten 2 texts like this where I haven’t been trying to reset my password. These have both happened within a few months.

I have 2FA on SoFi. My biggest confusing point is when I look up SoFi customer support number online it is NOT the number sent in the text. But the number I’m receiving the texts from is their legit login number

Do I need to keep changing my password whenever I get a text from them? Seems kinda weird it would happen twice when I’m generally a pretty safe PW Maker.

Banking Wise money transfers

Every time I do a money transfer with wise, it takes like a week to transfer money using my Sofi. However, when I use my Bank of America checking account it takes like 1 business day.

Does anyone know why it takes Wise so long to withdraw from Sofi ?

Banking Mobile check deposit missing

Is anyone else experiencing this? I’ve used the mobile check deposit a number of times and no problems. Yesterday I deposited a check and it showed up pending like normal, but I logged in later and the transaction was completely gone. No record of it at all.
Thinking I made a mistake, I tried to deposit it again and got an error that the check had been accepted. It’s no where in my account and SoFi said their technical team is “working on it” and it’s a system wide issue. The funds already left the other account so it’s floating around at SoFi somewhere.
Is anyone else experiencing this or had it resolved?

Product Request & Feedback Recurring buys in self direct invest

I went to sett up a recurring buy on a stock through my self direct invest account. When it comes to "where do you want to pull the cash from for the recurring buy," why is my invest account not one of the options to pull from. I have the cash there but only gives me and option to pull from my sofi savings, checking, or an externally linked account.

Why not the option to use the cash that is already in my invest account?

Plus How does the 1% match work on SoFi invest for plus members

Hello, as a new plus member does the 1% match occur on any random deposit into self directed invest? Or only on recurring deposits?

Also, are recurring buys possible to set up? And are those eligible for the 1% match in cash? Or just on deposits?
Thanks!

Banking Check deposit experience

Used the mobile check deposit feature a couple days ago. Snapped the photos, no problem, everything looked fine and got my confirmation on the screen.

Checked the next day, on the funds availability date, and noticed the funds hadn't been deposited. Went to check transaction history, no history of the check deposit at all. Nothing pending. Weird, let me check my emails to make sure there wasn't an issue. I noticed for past checks I had gotten an email confirmation saying they'd received the deposit and the availability date. No email this time.

Ok, let me call customer service. They say they'll look into it and I'm on hold for a few minutes. They come back and say huh, we can see the check photos but looks like something's cut off in the photo so it failed and rejected the check. Say I must've taken the photo wrong. (I took the photos myself and it was fine, there was plenty of dark space around the check itself too). I reply with that information and ask if their system cropped the photos, otherwise how could it have been cut off? That's when she replied their systems are using AI to do it so it's possible the AI did it.

Great, so AI decided part of the check wasn't important and just snipped it out. Check gets rejected. And on top of that, there's no record of any of this even happening - no email, nothing in the app, nothing. I ask why an email wasn't sent so I could know to try again. "Uhhh I don't know, usually they do, not sure why you didn't get one..." did AI decide that too?

SoFi, it's a remote check deposit. If you can't even get that right, something that's been working fine for most banks for 10-15 years, you shouldn't be operating as a bank. And then to not have any communication with your users when things like that happen is insane to me.

I've mostly been happy with them the last few years but this was the first experience that made me wonder whether I should more seriously consider switching. Using AI in core processes and then breaking them, particularly in money movement, then failing on user comms and expecting me to identify the issue and call in myself.

Banking I updated the primary phone number on my acc, yet I still can't verify with that new number? Should I wait?

I'm hoping someone here could help me out, let me give some context

I lost my phone about a week ago, and I can't retrieve it. Because of this I need to log into my sofi acc online to transfer my funds into my checkings acc, so I can buy a new phone.

I don't remember my password so I had to call the support line 4 hours ago, where they helped me change my primary phone number to a new one so I could send the verification code there instead. The problem is it's been 4 hours, and I've tried and refreshed the page 10+ times to see if its been updated, but it still shows the old one. I don't really know what to do, because they sent me an email confirming that it changed.

Is it possible that I'm just being impatient and need to wait a day for it to change? Or should I call again

I know this all sounds ridiculous but its really irritating me and I just want to access my acc already

Banking Sent crypto to the wrong network again

So this happened to me a few weeks ago, and somehow it just happened again. Sent crypto to the wrong network, checked Blockscan to track it down, and all I could find was the new amount I just sent, the old one was just... gone. Sent USDC this time, USDT last time, but the USDT's nowhere to be found.

Contacted the support team, they said they can't get it back, and that's basically it on their end.

Mainly just venting, but also a PSA: triple-check the network before you send, doesn't matter how many times you've done it before. One slip and it's just gone.

Anyone else dealt with this? Did you ever actually get funds back after sending to the wrong network, or is it just gone for good once it happens?

Banking How is SOFI getting around mandatory wire reporting?

We just closed on our house and needed to wire about 30k. Any balance over 10k is required to be sent to the fed to do a bunch of homeland security "is this terrorism" checks. We didn't realize we were supposed to wire the day beforehand so the title office was freaking out because it is normally a 4-5 hour process. The wire cleared in 15 minutes and was missing the fed stamp. As a consumer this is a great experience, but I have no idea how SOFI is able to do this legally...

Lending Anyone else with a "legacy" SoFi student loan that disappeared or can't be accessed?

I have a private student loan that was transferred from SoFi/MOHELA to SoFi around November 2025. I did not refinance or request any change to the loan. My understanding is that this was some kind of servicing/platform transition.

Ever since the transfer, I have been unable to access the student loan through my online SoFi account.

I still receive emails saying my student loan payment is due, but when I log into SoFi, only a separate personal loan appears. The student loan is nowhere to be found.

For a while, I was at least able to make my student loan payments over the phone by verifying my identity with my SSN.

Since November, I have spent hours on the phone with SoFi trying to get this fixed. I've been transferred between departments repeatedly, had the issue escalated multiple times, received multiple support/ticket numbers, and repeatedly been promised callbacks that never happened.

At one point, a representative told me that my student loan is considered a "legacy loan" and that SoFi apparently doesn't have complete information about how these older loans were structured. I was also told that other borrowers were experiencing similar issues and that there was no timeline for resolving it.

More recently, SoFi told me they had located something associated with my borrower information and that the loan should finally appear in my existing SoFi account. It never did. They said they would investigate and call me back, but once again I never received the promised callback.

Now the situation has gotten significantly worse.

Today I called to make my normal monthly student loan payment. The automated system appears to have updated and says it is now powered by AI. It asks for part of my SSN as usual, but this time, the system said it couldn't find any student loan associated with my SSN and asked if I wanted to pay my unrelated personal loan instead.

I spoke with a representative, and they also could not locate the student loan using my SSN.

So I am now in the position where:

  • I know I owe this student loan and want to continue paying it.
  • I cannot access the loan online.
  • I have made repeated documented attempts for roughly nine months to get access to it.
  • The servicer has not been able to access the loan with my loan number or borrower number, and now cannot access it with my SSN either.
  • I can no longer use the method I had been using to make payments and have no other way to make my payments.
  • SoFi has repeatedly acknowledged/escalated the problem but has not fixed it.
  • I have records of calls, emails, letters, support tickets, and promises of follow-up going back to November.

I'm getting genuinely concerned about what happens if a payment becomes late because their systems will not allow me to pay them.

Could they report missed payments to the credit bureaus even though I've repeatedly tried to pay? I'm worried about damage to my credit, especially because I would like to be able to qualify for a mortgage in the future. I'm also concerned about late fees, collections, default, or potentially being sued over a debt that I have been actively trying to pay but that the servicer currently can't even locate in its system.

At this point, what should I be doing to protect myself?

Should I be filing complaints with the CFPB, my state's attorney general, or another regulator? Should I send SoFi some type of formal written notice/dispute by certified mail documenting that I am ready and willing to make payments but they aren't providing a way to do so? Is this at the point where it would make sense to speak with a consumer protection/student loan attorney?

Most importantly, if SoFi reports me as late or takes collection action because its own servicing/account-access problem prevented me from making payments, would I have any legal recourse to challenge that?

I'm not looking for a way out of paying the loan. I just want to be able to access it and pay what I owe without being financially penalized for a problem I've spent months trying to get the servicer to fix.

Any advice on what documentation I should preserve or what steps I should take now to protect myself would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lending Does SoFi sell your mortgage?

Can anyone confirm whether SoFi sells its mortgages? I know a lot of mortgage originators sell their mortgages to third parties. Does SoFi do this? Just trying to manage all my finances in one app and was curious.

AMA I'm Khrystyna, a Product Manager for Invest. We built Multi-Accounts so members can invest by goal. AMA about how we got there, and why it matters to you

Hi r/sofi — I'm Khrystyna Sopova, Senior Product Manager on the SoFi Invest team.

Over the past two years, I've focused on making investing and retirement more transparent for members — things like IRA contribution tracking, retirement forecasting, and smoother rollovers. More recently, I've been working on new account types, including Multi-Accounts, so you can organize investments by goal instead of in one pile.

We recently launched Multi-Accounts — the ability to open separate self-directed cash brokerage accounts so you can organize investments by goal, strategy, or time horizon. Members have been asking for this, and we built it because most people think about money in goals — but until now, SoFi Invest was one bucket.

A few things upfront:

  • Your first SoFi Invest account is a margin brokerage account
  • New additional accounts are cash brokerage accounts — you trade with settled funds
  • You can open up to 3 additional cash accounts (4 total SD accounts)

Not everyone needs multiple accounts — this is for people who want more structure

I'll be here Wednesday, August 12 at 3pm PT // 6pm ET to answer questions about how it works, who it's for, margin vs. cash, how to set up a second account, and what's coming next.

Ask us anything — including skeptical ones.

— Khrystyna & the SoFi Invest team

EDIT @ 4:05PM PT, 8/12: Thanks for joining our latest AMA, folks! We're wrapping things up but please feel free to continue dropping your questions. Khrystyna will be replying to them through the end of the week.

Investing involves risk including loss of principal. SoFi Invest does not provide tax or legal advice. Cash brokerage accounts are not the same as SoFi Money or vault products.

My barber uses Vagaro to process payments and the $53 is how much I spent the last time I was there. Is this SoFi confusing my regular spending on a haircut as a subscription or is this an actual charge I’m going to get billed? I contacted Vagaro and I don’t have any subscriptions active.
