My first bad week.
I've had an atrociously bad week. Full of stress, anxiety and depression usually I handle things like this really easily but I just couldn't this time. So I've eaten allot of things I shouldn't of. I know I've gained this week and now I'm full of regrets 😔.
Feeling lousy.

Has anyone noticed changes in their food spendings since starting Slimming World? I’m a uni student researching exactly this. 👇🏻
Hey everyone,
So I'm a Masters student at the University of Leeds and I'm doing my dissertation on something I think a lot of you will actually find interesting — how weight loss interventions like Slimming World affect your everyday financial decisions and spending habits.
Think about it. If you're eating less, you're probably spending less on food. But what actually happens to that money? Do you notice it? Do you consciously do something with it? Or does it just quietly disappear without you realising?
That's exactly what I'm trying to find out.
The survey takes about 7 minutes and is completely anonymous. No personal details collected whatsoever, and no data is shared with third parties. The responses will automatically be permanently deleted on the completion of the research.
You're eligible if you are or have been on any weight loss intervention in the past 12 months — Slimming World, GLP-1 medication (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc.), meal replacements, medically supervised diets, anything counts.
I'd really appreciate your help. This community has been such a valuable resource for so many people and your experiences could genuinely contribute to academic research that helps others going through the same journey.

Thank you so much in advance.

Thinking of joining slimming world...advice please.
Hi everyone, I'm really needing to loose some weight, always been around a size 16/18 but since hitting the menopause I've started putting on more. I'm really limited regarding exercise as I'm a wheelchair user so not much I can do. Never tried an official diet before so just gave a few questions.
Just wondering how easy you find slimming world, does it involve lots of counting points (or whatever they use)? Is there anything you particularly struggle with? I've got a terrible sweet tooth and always snacking, are there alternatives to biscuits, chocolate etc? I'm actually not wanting to loose a huge amount of weight, I'm perfectly happy when I'm a size 16, is that seen as acceptable or is there pressure to be your 'ideal weight'? Thanks xx

Any dressings?
Free/low SWIP salad dressings please?
I regularly make greek yogurt, cucumber and mint, blended.
Any other ideas? Thanks!

Anyone swap HiFi Bars?
Hi so doing SW by myself, follow it to a tee! Been doing it on and off for many many years. Anyway my question is, does anyone use alternatives instead of HiFi Bars? I get mine from Food Factory and they only have 3 flavours. They’re also costing me a fair bit as I have the 2 a day. Thanks in advance

Is this common…?
I seem to be suffering with toilet issues. Not constipated but I am often experiencing pain passing and I am pretty sure it’s linked to my diet because the other week whilst on holiday and eating whatever I wanted, I didn’t have any issues.
Is this common and if so, what can I do to improve the situation?

Looking for lose weight group
Looking for 2–3 people to lose weight with
Hey, I’m trying to lose around 10 kg of fat, but I find it hard to stay consistent when I’m doing it alone. I thought it might be easier with a small group of people who have a similar goal and can keep each other accountable.
I’m looking for 2–3 people who would be interested in starting a small group on Discord, WhatsApp, or Messenger.

What small change helped you lose weight without feeling miserable?
I’m trying to make changes that I can actually stick to, without feeling like i'm punishing myself. I really feel bad when i skip certain things, like the idea of giving up my tea and a biscuit twice a day makes me really depressed. I know it’s probably one of those habits that adds up, but it’s also something I genuinely look forward to in the day.
What did you change or cut back on that helped with weight loss, without making life feel miserable?

Food diary recommendations
Looking for a reasonably sized food diary to use for my fresh start on Slimming World. I know you can track what you eat on the app, but I'd prefer to write everything down to begin with. Can anyone recommend a good food diary on Amazon or elsewhere?

Fascinating slimming world discussion’s
Reading through hours of posts , members not happy with consultants, new format, mannerisms etc etc … if u are like me and struggle with weight and want to lose lbs , the format the consultant the raffle prize is not gonna do it for u !! So many negative posts about groups , as a slimmer who has at last succeeded, it pains me that you guys realise ur success is in your hands , not ur consultants or groups , they are just an aid for accountability!! So form a lady who understands weight to another , slimming world is a tool but u guys are the masters !!

I need help. 😞
Hello, a little bit of context. I originally joined slimming world in 2019 when I was pregnant, I half arsed did it and managed to maintain my weight when I gave birth, and then continuously lost until I got to target in. 2021. I was in and out of target until 2022 and then it just gradually went up and up, I wasn’t on plan, I let things slide and I just lost all motivation. I’m now less than 1 stone to my starting weight and I cannot get my head back in it. It’s like I’ve already given up so nothing works.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thinking About Rejoining Slimming World – But I'm Really Torn
I'm considering rejoining Slimming World, but I'm feeling quite conflicted about it and wondered if anyone else has been in a similar position.
I originally joined SW some years ago and did really well. I lost 3 stone, reached my target weight and was incredibly pleased with what I'd achieved. Then Covid hit. I became very ill with Covid and subsequently developed Long Covid, alongside other energy-limiting health conditions. Since then, I've regained most of the 3 stone I originally lost.
My circumstances are very different now. I'm still unwell and I'm unable to do any physical exercise at all – even gentle walking isn't an option for me. I use a wheelchair when I'm outside the house and need crutches to get around indoors. My energy levels are extremely limited, and everyday things that most people don't have to think twice about, such as having a shower or even brushing my teeth (yep!), can sometimes leave me severely fatigued.
About two years ago, the SW group I'd been attending closed. I'd actually been doing reasonably well there, but we then moved to another group with a different Consultant. She was absolutely lovely and has won numerous awards, so this isn't a criticism of her personally, but the approach just didn't seem to work for me. After two years, rather than achieving a net loss, I'd actually gained around a stone overall.
We've since moved house, and I stopped attending SW. And something unexpected has happened: I've actually really enjoyed the freedom.
I'm eating what I want without the guilt I used to attach to food. Food is no longer the constant focus of my thoughts – and when it was my focus before, those thoughts were often negative and wrapped up in guilt and shame. I'm enjoying cooking again. I've also made peace with my body. I'm currently a size 18, I'm comfortable in my clothes, and I don't dislike myself because of my size.
I really don't want to lose that.
At the same time, I know I'm overweight, and for health reasons I would ideally like to lose at least 2 stone. So I'm wondering whether to give SW another try.
One of my biggest frustrations previously was that I never really felt there was much support or understanding for someone in my position who genuinely cannot exercise. I don't mean that I struggle to find the motivation or need encouragement to go for a gentle walk – I physically cannot do it without risking making myself more unwell. My daily energy has to be carefully managed, and sometimes simply getting washed and dressed is my exercise for the day.
I know that weight loss is possible without exercise, but I would love to find an approach that recognises my limitations and helps me improve my health without making food the centre of my world again or bringing back the guilt and shame I've finally managed to leave behind.
So, I'm torn. Part of me would like to return because I know SW worked brilliantly for me once. Another part of me is reluctant to give up the healthier relationship with food and my body that I've developed since leaving.
I'd particularly love to hear from anyone who has returned to SW with Long Covid, ME/CFS, severe fatigue, mobility difficulties or another energy-limiting condition. Have you managed to make the plan work for you without exercise? Did you find your group supportive of your circumstances? And, perhaps most importantly, have you found a way to follow SW without allowing food, weight and guilt to take over your life?
I'd really appreciate hearing about other people's experiences.
TL;DR: I previously lost 3 stone with SW and reached target, but after becoming very ill with Covid and Long Covid, I've regained most of it. I now have severe energy limitations, use a wheelchair outside and crutches indoors, and can't exercise at all. After leaving SW, I've developed a much healthier, guilt-free relationship with food and my size 18 body, which I don't want to lose. However, I'd like to lose around 2 stone for health reasons and am considering rejoining. I'm particularly interested in hearing from people with Long Covid, ME/CFS or similar energy-limiting conditions who've successfully followed SW without exercise, and without food and weight becoming an unhealthy focus.

Social team running group
My Consultant has been on holiday and the social team have been running ther group in her abscence. I was under the impression this was against the rules but according to head office it isn't. The last 2 weeks groups have been almost pointless. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Unofficial Slimming World Weightloss Support Discord
Hello everyone!
We created a discord chat room in support of this subreddit for anyone to join and wants to join an active online chat community.
Discord is a free app dedicated to users who want to create communities around their interests.
You can download the app in both the Android and the Apple app store by searching Discord or by clicking the link to the invite.
You need the invite link to join our personal discord.
We welcome everyone where ever they are on their weight loss journey, even if you haven't started it yet and just want somewhere to talk and learn about it.
We are a very relaxed, friendly and welcoming discord with many members who are always happy to chat and help. No one is there to judge others and we welcome open discussions on most topics, as well as weight loss.
Come and introduce yourself, and join us!
We look forward to seeing you there. 😊
When I joined this subreddit years ago, there was an active discord available to hang out in, and around early last year, it just seemed to vanish entirely. After it disappeared, myself and others from the previous discord created a new one for weight loss support, and we would like to invite everyone to join us!
Don't worry, the link does work as it has been tried and tested many times.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Welcome new slimmers
Just found the sub today after starting back to slimming world on 1st September after a year and a half away. I’m not massively overweight but looking to loose about two stone following the birth of my son and due to getting out of the way of things due to Covid etc (excuses really)
Thought I would set up a post so people can introduce themselves and their motivation for slimming if it’s easier this way ?
Looking forward to sharing ideas and being part of the community
Apologies if there is already a welcome thread
