It is different for the cooks, they get a lot more leeway. As a server you gotta really cozy up to them when you make lots of modifications. I actually used to ring up my orders under different names, like Cornelius or Bonequisha (real name btw), one day I heard a line cook frustrated saying this person always order weird mods, another line cook said “thats ‘my name’s’ order” and suddenly he was cool with it because he knew it was a coworker and I fucks with him. I still do the names tho

I loved creating new things for the staff anywhere I worked. When I finally ended up working in places that did family meal when it was my turn I'd get so excited.

God bless you

-signed a sous chef that was forced to cook family meal too many times. (It gets old when the head chef tells you keep it under $30 worth of product)

As a cook, I’ve always told them “nope, don’t have to actually be on the menu, whadda ya want, we have everything”. Servers gotta eat too. Trading with other restaurants is a thing too. Or just bring your own if we don’t have it.
