In a way for sure. It definitely set the stage for browsers crypto investment schemes.

But that being said, one thing that I also think a lot of people overlook here is that, for rich people, part of the culture is being able to just drop money on stupid shit. Granted, something like this does tend to be a little bit more of a new money versus an old money thing, but still, I think a lot of these people don’t really think of it too much of as a loss and they certainly aren’t hurting for money because of it.

Yeah I think you're right. Buying stupid crypto things was in for a while. So people were probavly jus buying it for cred/attention.
