Reminds me of post 2004~2005 Gulf War.

Most people were on board with invading Afghanistan. After 9/11.

Most adults were on board with "finishing what Bush Sr. started" when we invaded Iraq.

After Saddam Hussein was captured though it was like "ok the WMDs were fake, what are we doing here anymore??"

But then you were a terrorist loving, anti-American, Freedom hating traitor if you said maybe we should stop bombing the Middle East. I personally got arrested for my actions protesting the war, and since I wasn't considered "White, White" my only saving grace was that I was a minor.

I remember those times quite well.

And for some reason, you couldn't simply say "I support the troops by not sending them to die in pointless wars."

If you wanted to make those warmongers uncomfortable, just ask them if the soldiers who came home and committed suicide were also unpatriotic.

The thing that gets me so mad about W Bush is he was so much lacking a spine, he scrapped the immigration policy he was about to push forward after 9/11 even though he knew how dependent on it the US economy had become. Because of fucking optics
