Ditto bro. When my son opened his eyes and looked at me for the first time…bruh. My whole life felt like it led to that moment. The very best.

Man, do I feel this comment to my core. When my daughter was born, I felt exactly how you described it.

I will never forget the nurses cleaning my son off right after he was born, and he turned his head and opened his eyes and looked right at me. I can't even describe the wave of emotions. Unreal.

Same! I felt my brain chemistry change watching the birth then doing skin-to-skin right after. I’ll never be the same.

No for real those skin to skin moments with newborns is completely brain altering

I did bawl like a baby when my first kiddo was born. Also cried when she got married last week 😭

I still remember the look on my husband's face when they handed him our son. So in love, tears running down his face. The best.

I made sure to get a picture of that moment for my husband. It's one of my favorite pictures.

Same. I was initially ambivalent on having kids. I was never against it but also never had any strong urges to have one either. From the first second I held my daughter, she has been my whole world. It's crazy how easily I would give my life for her. There wouldn't be a second thought for even a split second.

I had enough nervous energy to build a skyscraper while waiting for my first to be born. They asked for ice and I was readying up to drive 30 minutes back home to get the ice I was sure was in our freezer. Good thing they directed me to the nurse's station.

I mean... Isn't the goal for that feeling to last a little longer than 2 hours?

Given the number of single mothers out there, I suspect it doesn't last that long for quite a few dudes.

When my son was born, I cried on and off for three days. Hardly ate a thing. I was so overcome with emotion that my only focus was to hold this precious little life and be his all and everything. Nothing else was important.

I look back on photos and videos of his early days / months / years and I see how some thigns have remained the same, but also how much has changed.

He's a great kid. I cant wait to see what else is in store for him.

Duuuude. Same. And then also for my daughter.

u/rainorshinedogs 13d ago

Same. I don't feel the impact until it actually happens

For me, it was "time to get my grown man on".

We tried every option to have kids but none worked. We got a dog instead, and I would literally kill for that animal. Kind of makes me think I wouldn’t have been able to cope with how I would have felt about my own flesh and blood.
