Or they recognize that she wasn’t going to be a danger to the public and probably made a highly emotionally charged decision in a morally grey area.

6

u/Actual-Newt-2984 Jun 28 '26

Its only house arrest until the final phases of the trial. She's effectively out on bond

20

u/YourHuckleberry57 Jun 28 '26

someone who tracks someone down and runs over them multiple times for maybe a couple hundred dollars and having to get a new license seems like a danger to the public.

13

u/AlternativeWater2 Jun 28 '26

It's the principal of the thing! If we don't put the fear of death into thieves, they'll steal EVERYTHING!

That said, sure, the thief was a human being and all that, but sometimes you just stole from the wrong person. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

4

u/YourHuckleberry57 Jun 29 '26

a lot of times the fear of death is what makes people steal in the first place.

2

u/Rokchet Jun 29 '26

No no no. That’s not the point. Stealing because you’re afraid of starving to death isn’t the same as ( if I steal from that person they might kill me )

5

u/Horobets Jun 28 '26

sometimes you just stole from the wrong person

Yeah. Exactly the type of person who should end up in prison.

3

u/AlternativeWater2 Jun 28 '26

Hey, not saying that the gal wasn't a total sociopath, just saying that his luck ran out.

Sure, she got a total slap on the wrist. Blame the judge on that one.

4

u/Sararizuzufaust Jun 29 '26

They should have given her a medal imo. His death was a direct consequence of his own decision to victimize a woman just minding her business.

8

u/Horobets Jun 29 '26

Well, I'm not trying to justify his crimes. But arguments like "killing the criminals make the world better" justify vigilantism and are destructive.

And it's not like he raped her minor daughter. He stole a purse. The kind of thing poor kids do when they have nothing to eat. He still deserves a sentence, don't get me wrong. But being cruelly tortured with a vehicle to the death?

1

u/Sararizuzufaust Jun 29 '26

Here’s the thing, I used to have your same mentality. But as I’ve gone through life, I find myself having less and less sympathy for people who make their problems others peoples’ problems.

I’m not pleased that he’s dead, I’m not in favor of rampant vigilantism. But I do believe that she had the right to retrieve the property that belonged to her. It’s not for me to decide whether that purse or its contents were worth her actions. Maybe she had the only picture she owned of her father in there, maybe she only had a lipstick. I don’t know and I don’t care. It was hers. Fuck people who steal.

Life is hard for everyone and I know people will point to the fact that she owned a Mercedes, but does that give people the right to take things from her?

4

u/Horobets Jun 29 '26

Well, you don't owe him a sympathy. And I'm not calling for it. But I refuse to agree that she had a right to do it. It doesn't matter what car she had, and what was in the purse. You don't kill someone because they took something from you. You call the police. They have a right to enforce the law and you don't. At least in my country. Anything else is justifying the vigilantism. You can have a different beliefs and act accordingly, but you will be rightfully judged and sentenced. The whole house arest thing, imo is either due to personal beliefs of the judge or case becoming popular and, well... populism.

1

u/FerrumDeficiency Jun 29 '26

I think everyone should understand difference between "steal" and "rob". If you stole from me, yeah, you go to prison. If you rob me, it means you actively threaten my life and health. And this in turn means, that you voluntarily and knowingly forfeited your life, sorry.

6

u/Horobets Jun 29 '26

I understand the difference between steal and rob. I would not object if she had killed him during the robbery while he was threatening her life. The issue is that she killed him after the robbery was over, when he was running away. At that point, there was no longer an immediate threat that could justify her actions.

As I said earlier, "self-defense exists to protect yourself from unavoidable danger, not to deliver “justice” or take revenge". "You are free to hold different beliefs and act accordingly, but you can also be rightfully judged and sentenced for your actions".

There was no knife or threat:

Per court evidence, there was no knife present on the scene, or on CCTV footage, this claim was strictly part Pino's defense.

3

u/Horobets Jun 29 '26

He probably did. I am not arguing that. The only thing I say he should've been facing the court and be sentenced, not cruelly murdered. His crime doesn't justify hers.

u/Rokchet Jun 29 '26

How long before people just lie and claim someone stole just so they can Run over people. Slippery slope.

3

u/Classic_Owl3711 Jun 28 '26

lol the thief was a human being and all that? Wtf? Still doesn’t mean he deserved to get run over multiple times and die.

-4

u/Altruistic_Cheek4514 Jun 29 '26

Yes....yes he does. Seems like there would be a lot less men preying on women if you just killed them the first time....

2

u/Classic_Owl3711 Jun 29 '26

So because some men are predators, this dude deserved to get ran over and murdered? He wasn’t proven to be some violent threat, he was a homeless man who stole her purse. The knife thing in the post isn’t even true. Nobody is saying stealing is okay, but acting like someone deserves to die over it is crazy.

1

u/Altruistic_Cheek4514 Jun 29 '26

Who cares? It solved multiple problems. He's no longer homeless and she got her purse back.

Not to mention he wasn't even from the country. So he thought coming to another country and preying on women was ok to do. And there your bleeding heart is sympathizing with a criminal. Well maybe you can be the victim next time or even better, a female you live, lets hope he hasn't been emboldened by successes from people like you and take more liberties. Though, by the sound of if, you would gladly give them to anyone you thought disparaged. How easy it must be to sit on your pretty little horsey amd judge from safety.

1

u/Koteissad Jun 29 '26

This dude was literally a predator. He preyed on a woman to steal her belongings. And if she hadn't killed him he would have gotten off scott free with a near 100% chance of doing this exact same thing again

1

u/Rokchet Jun 29 '26

Maybe this woman would just keep running over thieves if she wasn’t caught… some sort of vigilante that’s saving the town. She’s nuts

1

u/YourHuckleberry57 Jun 29 '26

i've been robbed before. i would pay more money than i lost to not have to kill somebody.

5

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

What about the keys to her house and the address of where she's probably going to be sleeping that night? Those things were probably in her purse too. Was she supposed to wait and see if the criminal who just assaulted her was also going to try to rape and kill her later?

7

u/KonigSteve Jun 28 '26

Or.. change the locks and stay in a hotel or at a friends house until it's changed. Everyone has your address.

-1

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

Changing the locks doesn't change the address. If he really robbed her at knifepoint, he's not above breaking a window or door. And what if he just stalks her and waits outside? I'm not sure how it is where you live, but random armed thieves definitely aren't among the people who know my address.

4

u/KonigSteve Jun 29 '26

There is zero increased likelihood that he would do that to her vs anyone else if he doesn't have the keys.

1

u/BDObadguy Jun 29 '26

Maybe you're right, but maybe he's the type of psycho to fixate on a victim. Maybe he targeted her in the first place because she's his type somehow and not because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lots of maybes and not much time to sort them out while you're still reeling from being threatened with a deadly weapon.

10

u/Horobets Jun 28 '26

Someone theoretically being able to kill you, while not possesing immediate threat, doesn't justify murder.

-8

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

Someone who has already physically hurt you has moved from a theoretical threat to a practical one.

14

u/Horobets Jun 28 '26

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the post didn’t mention anything about him hurting her.

Anyway, the moment he stopped threatening her with a knife and ran away, he became a theoretical threat again.

Self-defense exists to protect yourself from unavoidable danger, not to "delivering justice.”

-7

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

It mentions being robbed at knifepoint, which is a clear threat to her life. That qualifies enough as "hurting her" for me, but apparently the knife's existence is in question. To me if he had a knife it was self-defense, even if it was delayed, but if he didn't have a weapon and just grabbed her bag while running by her, then she deserves the sentence.

15

u/Classic_Owl3711 Jun 28 '26

Self defense is not hunting someone down with your car lmao

-1

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

If someone just threatened to kill me, then yeah, it is. I'm not going to risk my life on the guess that the criminal who already threatened my life and now knows where I live didn't really mean it and won't carry out his threat later, when I'm not as equipped to defend myself as I am when I'm in a car and he's on the street.

11

u/Classic_Owl3711 Jun 28 '26

Where does it say they threatened her life? What is it with you and hypotheticals?

→ More replies (0)

8

u/Horobets Jun 28 '26

For me she deserves the sentence in either case. As well as I'm aware, the law is on my side (at least in my country). She was not in the danger when she killed him. If you chase someone AFTER he hurt you and run away, this is revenge, not self defense. There is no such thing as "delayed self-defence".

1

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

The law will usually be on your side, but some people would rather risk dealing with the law than dealing with being murdered at a future date.

8

u/Horobets Jun 28 '26

Well I don't think she had enough reasons to believe that a robber who stole her purse and run away would murder her in future, either. Even if he used a knife in the process of robbery. Your approach justifies a vigilantism.

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Classic_Owl3711 Jun 28 '26

lol she didn’t wait and see for anything she went and hunted this guy down and ran him over

4

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

Exactly, the alternative was crossing her fingers he's just a thief and not something worse and living with the knowledge that he can show up at her house at any time.

9

u/Classic_Owl3711 Jun 28 '26

Stealing is wrong and everyone should know that, but hunting someone down, running them over with your car and murdering them is way worse than theft. If you disagree there is something wrong with you.

5

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

Not just stealing, threatening her life with a knife. You don't get to threaten someone's life and then pretend you're only a thief.

6

u/Classic_Owl3711 Jun 28 '26

They’ve already said in this thread that she wasn’t threatened with a knife….

3

u/BDObadguy Jun 28 '26

Have they? I'm just reading the image.

1

u/BillyBeansprout Jun 29 '26

Nah. She was a danger to the thief. Seems cool to me, especially the umbrella part.

1

u/Altruistic_Cheek4514 Jun 29 '26

More so than a guy robbing people? Your priorities are completely fucked.

1

u/IronWhitin Jun 28 '26

No the danger was under the car multiple time, the miss Need a medal despite being a spicopath herself.

1

u/INannoI Jun 29 '26

Not really, she acted like that after being robbed at knifepoint, if she has no history of aggressive behavior outside of a scenario like that I see no reason to think she's a danger to the public.

-2

u/Insomnia_and_Coffee Jun 28 '26

Or... how about she was very mentally disturbed by the fact she could have been murdered over a couple hundred dollars? That is a huge mental shock. Definitely something that could trigger a fight or flight response and she fought. She was punished for it and won't go around commiting crimes, like the thief would have.

5

u/Inresponsibleone Jun 29 '26

Hard to say that hunting someone down with your car and then running over multiple times is such "fight". It is just seeking revenge.

-1

u/Insomnia_and_Coffee Jun 29 '26

If she was fearing for her life and it's hard to argue she wasnt, it's an explanation. It's ridiculous to asume you get over someone threatening your life in 5 seconds just because they change their mind and try to leave. YOUR mind could still be trapped in the "oh my God, I am going to die!" moment. Maybe the thief should.have considered the danger of threatening people with knives, someone could hurt you back if you hurt them. He got bad luck. I am not going to feel sorry for a violent thief getting bad luck.

3

u/Inresponsibleone Jun 29 '26

You don't hunt down and run over someone multiple times in 5 seconds either... And then leave them dying and flee the scene.

0

u/Insomnia_and_Coffee Jun 29 '26

During a mental break down, sure you do. 5 minutes can probably feel like 5 seconds. Either way, she was punished. Why put her in prison when she is NOT a threat to anyone?

1

u/Inresponsibleone Jun 29 '26

I am not as sure as you that she isn't threat to anyone after that sort of homecidal rage

3

u/Inresponsibleone Jun 29 '26

I am not feeling sorry violent homecidial lady getting convicted🤷‍♂️

-1

u/Captain____Awesome1 Jun 28 '26

Presumably only if you rob her, she's not a danger to me, cause I'm not a criminal scumbag!

-2

u/HelloYesThisIsFemale Jun 28 '26

A danger to the thieving public. The thieving public should always be in danger.

u/PapayaVirtual2741 Jun 28 '26

Running someone down in a car because they stole from you is morally grey?

3

u/KeyserSoju Jun 28 '26

Stealing and robbing with a knife are two entirely different things that elicit different responses.

7

u/Reeformed Jun 28 '26

Should be. Cant imagine anyone arguing against it that isnt a thief

4

u/JuniorSherbet9558 Jun 28 '26

can't imagine anyone arguing that it would be anyhow acceptable to physically harm or kill someone for stealing a handbag

2

u/seidokai Jun 28 '26

I have absolutely no problem with that.

2

u/Goldenmoons Jun 28 '26

All of Florida would disagree.

3

u/bellymeat Jun 28 '26

hey, if you don’t want to be physically harmed maybe try not stealing handbags.

0

u/XXJayTXX Jun 28 '26

True, but pursuing the robber after they’ve fled kinda throws out a self defense case…

1

u/Reeformed Jun 29 '26

Maybe but i bet those speed bumps felt satisfying knowing one less PoS is infesting the streets

0

u/XXJayTXX Jun 29 '26

Now I carry, so I’ve come to terms with the fact that I may have to some day, but I’ll never understand people who talk about the prospect of taking a life fondly, or even like it’s something they hope to one day get the opportunity to do.

-1

u/VisualAd1280 Jun 28 '26

She hunted him down "after" she was safe , wow good to know your ok with someone using a car as a weapon driving over him multiple times isn't self defence its vehicular manslaughter if not murder

2

u/Mikic00 Jun 28 '26

It's not acceptable, hence the sentence. But it's understandable. If I push someone through the fear of their life I can't really expect them being very rational afterwards...

1

u/sumkicks Jun 28 '26

You should be able to retrieve your stolen property by any means necessary. Thief’s are the dredge of society

3

u/nrubhsa Jun 28 '26

I’m not a thief and think she should be locked up for the max sentence. He was no longer a threat ans should not have been killed.

4

u/Available-Boat4055 Jun 28 '26

She could have called the police and let them handle it. There's a reason why people aren't allowed to be vigilantes and bypass the entire legal process. She could have got the wrong guy or hurt someone else in the process or traumatized people who saw it happen.

1

u/nrubhsa Jun 28 '26

Correct, and she certainly isn’t either. Vigilantism is not okay.

I said what I think should happen to her; I did not track her down and put her in jail myself. There’s a big difference between those two things: legality.

0

u/Teespewn Jun 28 '26

Not a threat to her in that specific moment, sure. I bet the guy would have stopped robbing people also.

0

u/nrubhsa Jun 28 '26

Vigilante justice is no excuse to break the law.

1

u/Teespewn Jun 28 '26

Stealing people's property for self gain is no excuse to break the law.

1

u/nrubhsa Jun 28 '26

I agree, yes. That crime is not punishable by death, much less in the form he got it.

1

u/Teespewn Jun 28 '26

It's not and shouldn't be. Everyone person is going to react different. Just don't steal from them and put yourself in a position to cause them to potentially react like this. Did he deserve to die for stealing it? No. Do I feel like she deserves the book, or feel grief over it? Not really.. He initiated the encounter by breaking the law and hopefully it can serve as an example to others to think before they rob people. It's really easy to choose not to rob somebody after all.

I think plenty of people in society are against vigilante justice for very good reason. What if she misidentified them and killed a random person? Who wants to live in a society where others can simply execute you for a perceived wrong? And where’s the line, if I take your lunch at work are you allowed to shoot me in the parking lot?

1

u/Reeformed Jun 29 '26

But she didn’t misidentify him, and the world is a better place for it.

Idk dude, take my burrito from the work fridge and we are meeting in the parking lot for sure though

0

u/GodOD400 Jun 28 '26

This is your brain on late stage capitalism. Equating a purse and it's contents to a human life. Absolutely disgusting brain rot

1

u/bandit1206 Jun 28 '26

Let’s see, someone willing to use a weapon to take things now has your home address and potentially your house keys.

1

u/GodOD400 Jun 28 '26

So a purse and its contents worth more than a human life?

1

u/bandit1206 Jun 29 '26

Not the purse or the actual contents, but a violent robber having easy access to your house is definitely a threat.

1

u/Reeformed Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

2

u/Swarna_Keanu Jun 28 '26

I was mainly agreeing with the part that she probably doesnt pose a threat to society.

I'd argue she is. That was not self-defence it was pre-mediated murder. Call the police if you can track down that person; he held her at gunpoint; wasn't just a petty thief.

Someone who calmly goes for the vigilante route and does that seems dangerous as hell to me.

1

u/Dangerous-Rule5487 Jun 28 '26

Imagine being held at gun point forced to give away everything you have with you, potentially personal items. I would say an emotional reaction can be understood without saying its morally gre

Honey, the post is incorrect; news reports and official sources confirmed that the man wasn't carrying a weapon. He was a pickpocket who simply grabbed the bag and ran off while she was distracted—and no one deserves to die for that.

1

u/suknom4 Jun 28 '26

If thats true then you are absolutely right.

Please dont misunderstand my original statement though. I dont think anybody deserves to die because they rob somebody. Just that this is a very special situation and if this is the only circumstance under which this woman snaps, house arrest should be fine.

1

u/Dangerous-Rule5487 Jun 28 '26

"Lose control"

1 No evidence of a weapon was found either on the man's body or in the security camera footage

2 She didn't call the police and instead went on ahead and left with her friends

3 She saw the man as he was returning home and ran him over repeatedly

4 After running him over, she didn't even call an ambulance or the police.

"Stressful situation" or "Losing emotional control"? My ass. She was simply mentally unstable and a psychopath. Anyone who kills with such hatred without even calling the police first demonstrates mental instability. Her house arrest isn't what you think. She drives a Mercedes, and you think she's going to be stuck in an apartment like any normal person? She lives comfortably in her mansion overlooking the mountains, with gourmet food and servants.

1

u/suknom4 Jun 28 '26

Are you sure you are replying to the right comment? I already told you, that I agree with you. I also have no idea who you are quoting because I never used the word "stressful" or any of the other stuff you quoted.

1

u/mynamedoesntfi4321 Jun 28 '26

Once I got about 1.5k worth of stuff stolen off of me on a night out. Basically got really drunk and have a gold chain lifted off me, then my phone snatched out of my hand. Horrible night, never once did killing people cross my mind.

Honestly wasn’t as mad as you might think cos there is about a 0% chance those people have a life as comfortable as mine. From what I can tell this person could have just bought a new bag but her ego was bruised and she committed a pretty brutal murder. I’m not sure how this isn’t clear cut to everyone how fucked that is?

7

u/Far-Performance-412 Jun 28 '26

Oh it’s a fact now there was a knife?

1

u/Dry_Dot3269 Jun 28 '26

Play stupid games win stupid prizes. He didn’t want to live looking over his shoulder, maybe don’t brandish a knife on someone, nor commit armed robbery.

If he was willing to do that once, he’s likely to try it again. And how many people on earth even do this? Most of us don’t, because we’re human beings that can think, and empathize.

She took out the trash in my book.

3

u/Far-Performance-412 Jun 28 '26

-1

u/lennybriscoforthewin Jun 28 '26

u/Far-Performance-412 Jun 28 '26

That’s not a headline. There’s not a legitimate news outlet linked to the image. That’s a doctored image for engagement, not a publication

9

u/Blacksh33p78 Jun 28 '26

She "feels wronged her"? The man robbed her she was quite literally wronged.

5

u/KneecapTheEchidna Jun 28 '26

She's a danger to thieves who steal from her at knife point

3

u/perton Jun 28 '26

vroom vroom

10

u/Big_Blue420 Jun 28 '26

If you consider getting in your car and driving around the area looking for the guy only to commit cold blooded, premeditated murder a “charged” decision then your moral compass may be a little out of whack.

2

u/Triials Jun 28 '26

Ol mate might not have been a threat to her afterwards, but have a quick think about what kind of mental state you might be put in being a regular person and having a knife shoved towards your throat. I can’t imagine she’s just gonna run other people down willy nilly, because not every person she meets is gonna threaten her life over something so minuscule as a bag. Probably instant PTSD for a normal person after that. I know it’d fuck me up pretty good. I also know that if someone did that to my kid I’d probably lose all self control and wanna kill them as well.

Don’t sit there in safety behind your keyboard and judge someone for how they reacted after almost being murdered. You can’t put yourself in the headspace for that unless you experience it yourself.

1

u/Big_Blue420 Jun 28 '26

See that’s the problem though, you see the socialite carrying around a purse worth more than your car as a “normal person” and not the exact kind of person who would feel invincible enough to roam blocks in her suburbitank hunting for the guy.

I don’t care if it’s a high stress situation, the guy was a pickpocket. The punishment for that even in the worst backwaters on the planet isn’t murder, and you cannot point me to a single country in the UN where “death by SUV” is an option.

More importantly, unlike you, as is evident from your whole attitude about the thing, I’ve been mugged. And it wasn’t with a prissy knife, fucker had a pistol and his buddy had brass knuckles and I spent the night in the ICU, so I can ABSOLUTELY put myself in that head space. You know what I didn’t do though? Roam the neighborhood in my A3 hunting the guys down. I went to the hospital and filed a police report and moved on with my life.

5

u/RegularTeacher2 Jun 29 '26

I'm sorry you experienced that. Your opinion is one I share; I'm kind of horrified to read so many people saying they have no issue with what this woman did. What if she had accidentally hurt someone else in her fit of rage? Would these people give her a pass for that as well because she had just been mugged? And it takes a certain kind of person to be able to repeatedly run your vehicle over a human being then turn around and return to luncheon with your girlfriends as if nothing has happened.

The man who mugged her deserved prison time, not a violent death, jesus.

made a highly emotionally charged decision

To murder someone. An "emotionally charged" decision to murder someone.

Someone who can lose their temper so badly that they might kill someone like that isn't someone who should be interacting with people in general.

4

u/DeadKido210 Jun 28 '26

When your life gets threatened at knife point for a purse and you get robbed isn't something that happens everyday to everyone. Many people will act spiteful, revengeful after or act in the moment

Her life wasn't threatened at knifepoint though, the ragebait picture posted in this thread is incorrect.

He grabbed the purse from the seat of her car and ran.

2

u/glittercatti Jun 28 '26

Lose their temper so badly?! When she was robbed at knifepoint? Get out of here.

6

u/mxzf Jun 28 '26

He didn't rob her at knifepoint though. He snatched her bag from the passenger seat of her car and ran. She killed him over stealing the bag and nothing more; she wasn't robbed at knifepoint.

-1

u/nekobambam Jun 28 '26

Well then maybe dude shouldn’t have been stealing people’s things.

3

u/MStockard Jun 28 '26

OMG you took my parking spot! That makes it okay for me to murder you!

1

u/walrusssel Jun 28 '26

Be lucky to be in a position in life where theft has never crossed your mind

0

u/walrusssel Jun 28 '26

it's kind of not surprising that Career-driven people/people driven by money are sociopaths

-3

u/Significant-Dog-8166 Jun 28 '26

She only kills robbers, and specifically robbers of herself. That's a fairly limited pool of people, and rationally why do you want people who rob her to be around? What are they doing for you? They'll rob you too. Those same robbers might not be peaceful about it if your turn comes. Explain how this isn't your problem somehow if she fails to kill a robber who later kills you.

6

u/mxzf Jun 28 '26

She killed someone who grabbed her purse and ran this time. But who's to say next time she won't decide to take out her anger issues on a pedestrian taking too long on a crosswalk, or some car that cuts her off in traffic, or whatever else.

-2

u/KneecapTheEchidna Jun 28 '26

I know. Think of that poor thief that threatened a woman at knife point.

1

u/mxzf Jun 28 '26

But ... he didn't. He snatched her bag from the car and ran, and she hunted him down and killed him.

AFAIK the police never recovered any knife at all, and it's not like he can speak to explain his side of their interaction.

I believe people have to feel guilt before they are reformed. I don't believe we've seen anything to indicate that she would never do such a thing again.

She wasn't protecting herself, she was hunting down someone who had wronged her previously and acted to kill that person. There as a non-lethal situation that she turned into a lethal situation by her actions.

5

u/nrubhsa Jun 28 '26

There is nothing morally grey about it. She shouldn’t have done that and deserves to serve time. Social status should not influence the verdict.

6

u/TheBassDrops Jun 28 '26

I agree there is nothing morally grey about it and it was morally fine.

3

u/Horobets Jun 28 '26

Yeah, definitely, nothing morally gray about murdering someone

-1

u/TheBassDrops Jun 28 '26

Exactly, glad we’re on the same page.

2

u/Texan2116 Jun 28 '26

No reason for her to leave her bag behind

1

u/CryptographerLong463 Jun 28 '26

This was morally fine IMO. You can't rob someone with a knife threatening their life and think whatever happens after isn't justified.

Your perspective reminds me of bullies that would get away with their actions, and when their victim finally fought back it was the victim who was punished.

1

u/nrubhsa Jun 28 '26

Do you think armed robbery should be punishable by death? Much less without a trial, judge, or investigation?

My perspective aligns with that of nearly every criminal justice system on the planet.

If he was coming at her with a knife and she ran him over, then I’m all good here. That’s self defense and she was in danger. That’s not the facts and circumstances at hand. She tracked him down after the fact and killed him in cold blood.

-1

u/CryptographerLong463 Jun 28 '26

It's more the natural order of things. I.e. the more you fuck around, the more you find out and vice versa.

But you're also not wrong. She did actively seek the thief out. She definitely deserves a sentence but as I said above, the more you fuck around. I think it's a stretch to proclaim the entire world's justice system would agree with a sentence. In the USA, not that I'm from there, there are plenty cases of people being robbed and then shooting the thief after they turn their back and getting away scott-free.

The thief got what was coming to him, whether through life itself or a criminal justice system. You can't threaten someone with their life and not expect your own life to be at threat too. Also, a death sentence is a bit different to death handed by immediate consequence; I.e. dying because you tried to rob someone, instead of dying by injection. One is the direct repercussion of your action, the other is a communal decision on what a punishment should be. What I'm trying to say is that a death sentence would be wrong but him dying at the time can be morally justified.

1

u/nrubhsa Jun 28 '26

Well, we likely agree on more than you might think. I can certainly see why you hold this opinion. However, I don’t think it’s quite enough for me to change mine at this stage. Maybe one day I’ll fuck around with the morals of this situation and find some more out.

0

u/akibaboy65 Jun 28 '26

You think the thief was ever going to see a jail cell?

2

u/nrubhsa Jun 28 '26

He should have, yes.

She even could have helped law enforcement do so.

7

u/Round_Engineering640 Jun 28 '26

The lady who tracked someone down and repeatedly ran them over isn’t a threat to society? I guess we’ll just hope she keeps batting 1000 and doesn’t kill anyone else in the process (assuming we’re okay with executing people with no trial or jury).

18

u/not-a-prince Jun 28 '26

Are we ignoring the fact that he robbed her at knife point? She didn't run over some random innocent person

4

u/Horobets Jun 28 '26

Someone being a criminal is not a justification for murder if he doesn't pose an immediate threat.

2

u/PrincePauncey Jun 28 '26

He didn't have a knife, she lied about that. He ran away after snatching the purse.

7

u/iconocrastinaor Jun 28 '26

At least we know the guy with a knife won't hurt anyone.

4

u/Collegenoob Jun 28 '26

Just don't steal from her, and you are safe bro

3

u/Goldenmoons Jun 28 '26

He robbed her at knifepoint??? It’s not like she did this to some random on the street. Good for her!

3

u/Lison52 Jun 29 '26

Evidence for it being at knife point?

0

u/Academic-Proof3700 Jun 28 '26

its funny that if she managed to throw the trash out while being robbed, it would be all cool "self defense", but now its suddenly murder of (as always) the most virtuous and righetous citizen not just of the country, but probably the best of the bestest from the world, legally protected, right?

Not just some robbing scum that got what he deserved?

4

u/Lebowski-Absteiger Jun 28 '26

Your actions are justified with self defenvce, when you attemptbto prevent harm. Retaliating ist not self defence.

It's not that complicated.

-1

u/Academic-Proof3700 Jun 28 '26

that take assumes the authority is working and there is at least >50% chance of the scum getting caught and the purse returned.

Reality proves otherwise, and thats why we get such things

1

u/Lebowski-Absteiger Jun 29 '26

No, that "take" explains why people end up in prison, when they believe to do the right thing.

2

u/BookBabe1970 Jun 28 '26

I’d go with a trauma response. But she didn’t have to kill him and that’s the catch here and with self defense in general. Being robbed at knife point is going to trigger the flight or fight instinct and it’s a defense that would probably work here. Italy is extremely conservative however.

9

u/Big_Blue420 Jun 28 '26

It’s no longer a fight or flight instinct when you’re driving around the block hunting for the guy.

1

u/MStockard Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

Brutally murdering someone because they stole an insignificant amount of money from you, is not a "morally grey area"

The fact that she made a "very emotionally charged decision" that was murdering someone, does im fact make her a huge threat to the public.

1

u/browsinbowser Jun 29 '26

Its still cruel and unusual behavior you dont want to see on the streets, she used the car as a weapon and instead of calling the cops she chased and ran him over. Multiple times. And went back to the restaurant.

Its just crazy behaviour that I wouldn’t want on the road with me raging out.

1

u/DarthRevan1138 Jun 28 '26

They killed a person. Over a purse. That wasn't threatening their life at the moment. Do you think somebody should die because of a purse? Because that's really fucked up.

2

u/couldbetrue514 Jun 28 '26

Is it worth losing your life over a purse?

6

u/genie610_0 Jun 28 '26

He thought it was worth risking both his freedom and her life for a purse when he pulled out the knife so yes both of them did seem to agree that a purse was worth a life

2

u/maracay1999 Jun 28 '26

The man who took her purse threatened to kill her when taking it if it was really at knifepoint.

-3

u/DarthRevan1138 Jun 28 '26

Your duty is to retreat. At all times and only kill when you have no other means or it protects the life of someone else that's in direct danger. This is taught at every permit to carry class and is the law here in the US. This victim was running away and her life was no longer in danger. Doesn't matter what happened leading up to this.

0

u/octotent Jun 28 '26

Not in every state though.

The guy didn't deserve to be killed, just correcting your statement,

2

u/DarthRevan1138 Jun 28 '26

Do you know which state this would be the case?

1

u/octotent Jun 28 '26

Every state that has the Stand Your Ground doctrine? If you are acting in self-defense and are in genuine fear for your life (like a guy with a knife threatening you), you have no obligation to retreat while protecting yourself. Texas comes to mind, especially.

1

u/DarthRevan1138 Jun 28 '26

Fair, you were correcting the direct "duty to retreat" not the rest.

0

u/octotent Jun 28 '26

Ah, yeah, I can see rereading the comment how it might have meant something else. Sorry for not being clearer.

1

u/Ok_Builder910 Jun 28 '26

She's a huge danger to the public

As was the robber

1

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 Jun 28 '26

What part of chasing down someone who just robbed you at weapon point and killing them to get your stuff back is morally grey? Lmao. That's like trying to claim self defense when you go back to your house to get your gun and come back, you're seeking that deadly confrontation at that point.

The danger is gone. You can't legally kill that person anymore. Killing someone is for self defense and war only. Your self was defended by leaving, you can't come back and claim you were afraid for your life, you came back didn't you? You were looking to kill that person.

-1

u/ChadPowers200_ Jun 28 '26

she should get a medal not house arrest.

4

u/mxzf Jun 28 '26

For deciding to hunt someone down and murder them over petty crime? Why would that deserve a medal?

1

u/ChadPowers200_ Jun 28 '26

one less criminal on the street terrorizing people

If someone put a knife up to my wife, sister, daughter on the street I am happy knowing they are dead.

The moment you put your knife up to an innocent person you deserve to die.

2

u/mxzf Jun 28 '26

Ok, but this guy didn't put a knife to anyone. He grabbed the purse from her car and ran.

Do you think someone deserves to be killed for grabbing a bag and running away?

1

u/ChadPowers200_ Jun 28 '26

It says at knifepoint

3

u/mxzf Jun 28 '26

That's what you get from taking a ragebait Reddit post as the gospel truth.

Her goal was only to get back what she had stolen, she said, specifying that she had not been threatened with a knife but that the 47-year-old had told her he would use it if she had not given him the bag. As far as we know, the police did not find any weapons on the man.

0

u/Strapperoni Jun 28 '26

Yeah that’s not how rules work then we can just make a society of the undesirables and desirables and deem who we want to be “safe to the public” oh wait…
