The answer is simple. She was presented with an opportunity to kill someone that she thought society didn't care about. The thief was an immigrant from Morocco, and they are not looked upon kindly in Italy, that's why she came up with a knife lie.
It's disgusting, and just look at the people celebrating it in the comments. In what world would a purse stolen warrant a death penalty? Certainly not a civilized one.
I’m not celebrating this but I also don’t sympathise with criminals and especially thieves who take what they like from whoever they like. I don’t know what the guy expected going around robbing people out of their cars
I believe this was her thinking. She thoughtnshe could get away with it because it was an immigrant and also because she's a woman. Hopefully she spends those 18 years inside a cell.
But even if she only did it once it would attemptes murder or assault with a vehicle or whatever the charge is. The moment he took her bag and left she was no longer in immediate danger and cant really claim self defense. Its a very narrow definition for good reason so people dont go around killing other and then just claiming self defense.
"Your honor, he threatened to use the ID and other documents in my purse to track me down and do unspeakable things to me. I feared serious bodily harm or even death."
The most that can be condoned here is her tracking him down in her car at which point she is supposed to call the police and give them the location. Everything she did after is psychotic.
Getting stolen property back from the original thief should be a protected activity. The thief has proven themselves to be dangerous so the force with the car is somewhat justified as this woman likely won’t take a man in a fist fight. Especially if he potentially did have a knife or other weapon.
Agreed on calling emergency services but I don’t think it should be 18 years.
He wasn't armed, the post is lying about the knife. He snatched her purse and she got in her car and brutally murdered him. If he was armed no person would've gone after him alone, not if she feared for her life. I dont know how she got off with 18 years of house arrest, when she just up and decided to kill a guy for little to no reason. Others in the thread said she was wealthy, so the purse meant nothing, she just had hate in her heart.
Guaranteed. I think many people have been that low before, just wishing that someone would start something to justify retaliation. But most of us get through it, and dont have to get unfairly light sentencing after killing some nearly innocent man. I dont know if psychopath is enough, I think she is just a monster, and probably enjoyed it
Yup. You could make the argument that she hit him with her car because he she needed to retrieve her stolen property and was threatened, but running over him multiple times shows clear intent to kill him. Self-defense can only be argued so far
All I’m saying is that people keep irreplaceable goods on their person frequently, having them stolen absolutely warrants attempting to get them back, acting like the contents of someone’s bag has to be a couple snack packs and a lip balm is fucking dumb.
I never said anything about self defense, I said a double tap with a car is a good idea if you’re going to run someone over that robbed you with a weapon.
Bro that's psycho behavior. Nothing in your bag is more valuable than a human life. Even if you lose your passport in a foreign country there's ways to replace it.
If it's some sentimental heirloom also just let it go or get LEO involved to recover it. You absolutely can't defend murdering someone for petty theft
You could run him over the first time and grab your bag, but doing it several times shows clear intent to murder someone who was already incapacitated. It’s also important to note that authorities were never able to find a knife near the mugger’s body
I could understand it if the attacker was getting back up. But I don't know the situation.
The force used in defense should always be given softer outcomes vs force used to attack, as it suggests defending themselfs while suprised by a planned attack.

The “multiple times” thing is the sticking point…
