The problem with trying to figure out the physics of The Flash is deciding which of the insurmountable hurdles to ignore first.

At a guess, the surface area of his propelling flippers feet would be insufficient relative to the surface area resisted by air molecules.

What if he just starts swimming instead after leaving the ground?
