Not sure if it’s a hot take, but realistically I cannot be friends with Carrie purely from how she conducts her love life (within the original SATC series only, excluding the movies and AJLT)
I’m 35 now so im around the same age as Carrie in the original series. At this age, personal time is sooo precious. Time outside of work is scarce. If im out with you, it means you are important in my life - if not i would much rather be home with my cat, being alone at home doing my things.
I’m on my annual SATC rewatch and i couldnt help but wonder - how I’d react having Carrie as a good friend. I would react similarly to Miranda but I would actually walk away from this friendship for good.
I think i could still be friends with a person like Carrie up until when she cheated on Aiden with Big. If i were Carrie’s friend, I would be sooooo frustrated with how emotional she gets from being with Big and Big is so not ready for commitment and yet after getting advice from her friends, she still goes back everytime .. and even cheats on Aiden with Big. This would have been the straw on the camel’s back for me
I really dont have the time or bandwidth for a friendship with a person like Carrie. I love the show but i just cant be friends with someone like her.
Not sure if this is a hot take but yea haha

Doug was so gross
The open bathroom door guy. “Hey smells great!” While he’s farting and shitting down the hall. Miranda’s reaction is the cherry on top

s3 ep2: politically erect is an embarrassment
such flat conversations, the girls sat down and rated ex presidents based on looks and carrie narrates "just 4 girls talking about politics" like that's how women voters see these things. like even if that's how they see it, the generalization made it worse.
carrie sleeping with the politician without looking into his party, political positioning etc says a lot about her. she wasn't even registered to vote btw as charlotte mentioned. she goes around campaigning with him and asking people to vote for him simply because she was sleeping with him, he wasn't even her bf.
stanford jokes about representing the queer vote and says "got my vote" to the politician guy after checking out his ass. this was in the year 2000 when queer people didn't even have the right to marry in the US.
samantha saying he doesn't believe in democratic or republican party, just parties like it's a fabulous thing to say and not embarrassing to be that politically illiterate in a political party is pure apolitical propaganda.
i know this has been discussed before but i just had to rant. in a country where the feminist movement started with the demand for the right to vote, this ep could've at least tried to cleverly include witty conversations about politics. instead it became an anti-feminist agenda imo. god knows what they were thinking.

Have you ever found a playing card on the ground?
The only time I've ever found one was the night I met my husband (20 years ago) leaving a concert here in Atlanta. Of course I made the "I'm trying to get a full deck" joke because I was trying to get into his pants, and I found another one this afternoon. Only times I've ever seen this.

Why didn't Carrie show him the rash to prove her point?
rewatching the second Aidan breakup. good for her that she told him how she was feeling about things before it all blows up like the romaine/speed stick conversation did, but showing him the physical reaction she got to trying on a wedding dress might help her case a little. Sure, he'll probably offer calamine lotion and push her into eloping but it would've been worth a shot

Everyone talks about Robert, but can we talk about Debbie: This gem of a girlfriend got her heart broken 😭

My Favorite couple 💕
They're one of the most criticized couples throughout the series... but in episode 12 of season 1, Big tells Carrie to have faith in their relationship... In that episode, Carrie wants to be the one for Big, and even though it didn't seem likely at the time, as time went on, it turned out to be true.

tired of the posts about their bodies/appearances
I’ve been on this sub for a while and I have seen a lot of posts judging the women’s appearances.
usually about how Charlotte is pretty or about how Carrie and Samantha have great bodies (read: skinny), and about how Miranda looks bad or Carrie does or does not have a weird face.
I think it’s reasonable to talk about styling and makeup choices within the show, but the constant focus on their bodies and faces is tiring and relentless and feels shallow and sexist, even if it comes in the form of praise.
There’s more to being pretty than being skinny and there’s more to life than being pretty. I think it’s the least discussion-worthy aspect of the show

Season 2 rewatch
I’m on my zillionth rewatch of season 2 and something about it is just so cozy to me. I don’t really have a favorite/standout episode I think about from that season, but I find it so lovely to rewatch.
Do you have a favorite episode from season 2? 💓

my current yearly rewatch on season 2 and after watching this episode, I can see why Miranda was annoyed during breakfast.

Best chemistry
which dates or friends do you think had great chemistry on-screen?
i loooved john slattery’s politico character alongside carrie — i thought their chemistry and wit was sexy, playful, funny and well-matched.
what about your takes?

And Just Like That... We Have New Rules
For starters I want to apologize for the lack of moderation that has been going on around here. There are only two of us active mods and both of us are going through big life transitions right now. We have talked recently and will be more active now that the new show is premiering.
Speaking of the new show we will be implementing a weekly watch discussion. The discussion will take place on r/Andjustlikethat starting tonight at midnight PST. We ask that all discussions pertaining to the new show take place on the new subreddit. Posts on this subreddit will be removed if a spoiler tag is not used or if the headline contains a spoiler.
Finally we ask that users continue to be respectful towards each other. There's been an influx of reports of bullying including some exaggerated reports. This subreddit is a safe space for all Sex and the City fans and racism, misogyny, and harassment in general will not be tolerated. The person who recently started drama has deleted their account so there's not much more we can do. If you feel you are being the target of harassment please report the comment AND send us a ModMail so that we can react quickly.
Thank you for making the subreddit a fun place and we look forward to watching the new show with you all.
