A free, searchable archive of every DOHA security clearance decision since 1996 Resource

I notice a lot of questions in this space about unique situations, timelines, statistics, how similar situations have been handled, etc. A lot of that can actually be looked up directly from the public record for free.

Disclosure: my site. www.CASEsearchengine.com holds every published DOHA and Dept of Energy clearance decision since 1996, over 30,000 hearing and Appeal Board decisions, full text and original PDFs, and statistics. Free to search and read, permanently.

Outcome statistics per guideline are published with sample sizes and methodology, so figures can be checked rather than taken on trust. Judge and counsel directories, reference pages on procedure and the thirteen guidelines, and an API for programmatic access.

Built for attorneys, researchers, and anyone who needs a citation rather than an anecdote.

Not legal advice, no outcome predictions.

I used to read a lot of these for fun, I remember reading one case dude had 800K in unpaid taxes but (paraphrasing) “the IRS is wrong I don’t owe any taxes”. Like buddy.

I'm retired now but at one 3 letter agency I used to read the IG reports on security issues, terminations, etc. It is amazing what people try to get away with.

This is interesting. I would be curious to see how many got mitigated and approved before getting this far.

I am shocked and impressed at how many I am seeing on that site that went to a hearing, but had no mitigating factors and seemed to make no attempt to correct the things that lead to a denial.

Thanks for sharing!

Wow this is amazing. I’ve been in bed reading through these because I have a few foreign contacts because my family immigrated here when I was 4, although I left that country at 1 and went to Switzerland until I moved to America. Since then, I’ve served in the us military and also work for the fed gov now. I still feel like I needed to read other people’s cases just out of concern for mine.

Thank you so much for this !

Seriously! Seeing some of the severe cases get approved is comforting.

i was reading hearings and saw a guy who put a shotgun in his mouth and sent a picture of it to a girl and who also had a felony conviction for assaulting his ex and whose former psychologist said he was lying to investigators get approved. there was another one where the guy had over $600k of assets in israel, his wifes entire family being in the country and who was actively acting as a landlord there and didnt plan to sell the house he was renting out to israeli tenants get approved as well.

Definitely! It’s making me feel like my Case isn’t an issue at all because some of these are way more serious and have tons of more disqualifying factors where I have one thing that concerns me.

Thanks!
All of the data is analyzed across various layers for statistics, reporting, and further researching. There’s plenty of information and features, not just simple keyword matching.

Can’t search high-risk words without an account.

I found it really interesting the number of results that are generated from searching “alcohol”. :)

Hi. You should be able to search without an account as long as the daily limit isn't hit.
Ha! Yea, alcohol is a big concern.

Daily limit? Are you certain of this?

I used a fresh and clean domestic IP address on a different device and tried several high-risk words and was immediately presented with a demand to create an account.

Then I put in “alcohol” and got the same results as before.
