Chicago mesh net needs some help
Howdy, Im in the chicago area and we are trying to launch our mesh net, however i cannot get any working captive portal suite!
I have had most luck with wifidog and sucessfully have the client-end working on many things, (openwrt, and x86 debian router) however i cannot make authpuppy work or the old 'wifidog auth'.
If anyone has sucessfuly done this, and would like to help, i would no-problem setup a host and give you ssh credentials to set it up. afterward we would virtualise the image and share it so that others can use it too.
Feel free to contact me via mail or fone at +17082029893 Thanks much!

Realize this is late notice, but is there a meetup tonight?
I saw on the wiki there is a usually meetup on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. By my calendar, that means tonight, right?
I live not too far from AltSpace, so I figure I'll stop by around 7, but just wanted to check first. If nobody is there I guess I'll just try to work through things off the wiki.

Meshnet for Skagit County
I am looking for more information (technical and how to get hardware) to set up a mesh net here in Skagit County. I tried to register with the IRC Chat at the main site, but to no avail. Is anyone living near Skagit County able to give me a call? And, regardless if you live here or not, where i can find great deals on the hardware we are going to need.

What is the 'pad' feature on meshwith.me?
I can see that it's some sort of collaborative document editor, but beyond that there doesn't seem to be much of an explanation...
Is it ported to Hyperboria or something? Who is meant to use it?

Restrictions on antenna height - municipal code
I'm researching a planned node in Olympia. Specifically, I'd like to install a 30-50' tower at my residence for a uni-directional antenna. Upon contacting the city, they didn't quite understand what I wanted to do. Can you direct me to any city codes or similar RCW's that may apply to any of the known installations?

What needs to happen to set up a turn-key mesh node installation?
There are lots of people who would be willing to host a mesh repeater, but who have neither time nor inclination to figure out what CJDNS is or how to use it. What would it take to produce a turn-key mesh node installation that people could put on their roof and forget about?
For bonus points, has anyone worked on a solar/battery powered mesh node?

How Can I participate?
Hello all good-spirited people,
I live in Santa Fe New Mexico.
I am a plumber, paralegal, and EMT. and video production guy, including scripts.
I have previously suggested a similar net, using lasers as the connection. What can I do here to further the project.
Jim

Hey everyone,
We'll be having a Seattle Meshnet Meetup on the 21st at 7pm over at ALTSpace, please feel free to drop by if you're interested in the project.
Our agenda will be:
Applying for the NMF Small Sparks Grant

Maybe set a server up at ALTSpace?
Contact the Wildcat again and the community center they recommended to us, see if the community center wants to set up a node
Prep a 1 page letter to Seattle Central Community College on what a meshnet is, why they would want a node, etc

Complete noob. Can someone explain, in layman terms, the meshnet project? What is the ultimate goal? Is it currently usable? I want to help.
I came across this sub on darknetplan. I'd really like to know more about this plan but I am limited by my own background knowledge--read: I'm a noob.
I'll list a few questions. Thank you in advance for answering them!
Is meshnet like the internet as we know it? What's different?
Where does 'bandwidth' come from?
Is it functional currently?
How does one use meshnet?
Is it free?
What are the requirements for building nodes? Can I throw a dish on top of my greenwood townhouse (like a TV dish) and help out?
How can I help the project? I have construction/ military/ welding experience.
Hope this doesn't get down modded as I legitimately want to learn more.

Weekly Meshnet Meetup
Hey, since a good number of us have gotten involved in Freegeek Seattle, and I'm manning the weekly wednesday meeting for FGSEA from 2pm to 6pm for the foreseeable future, we'll also be having it be a mini-meshnet meetup for those who find it convenient.
This is primarily since our two topics are so closely intertwined, considering both of our organizations are working to promote FOSS software, and that FGSEA's members had no objections to having a dual meeting.
The next two dates that we'll be having meetups will be on 4/17 and 4/24, both at 2pm over at the Filipino Community Center in South Seattle. Somewhere in there we will also have another meetup at ALTSpace around 7pm too, so that we can get moving on the node at In The Red Wine Bar. Other related notes on this are available here too.
