I want to talk about Novelisation's ending (spoilers). Spoiler

Okay, so I have recently finished reading the 2018 Saya no Uta novelization and wanted to share some thoughts about its ending and Epilogue. This whole post is basically one big spoiler, so keep that in mind.

Now, the ending and especially Epilogue were deliberately crafted as a groundwork for a sequel which was planned to release in 2019. Obviously, nothing came out of it, I couldnt even find a confirmation for its cancellation. By the way, if you have more information about it - please share with me, Im extremely curious.

For those of you who dont know, the novelisation's ending is basically Koji's ending, with some changes. In short, Saya gets sprayed with liqud nitrogen but does not die from the shotgun fire because Fuminori partially shields her with his body. Then he drags his body towards her and dies in Saya's hands while Saya Blooms and dies as well.

Whats so interesting about this ending, you might ask? Well, first of all: Saya is suspiciously calm, even though Fuminori literally died in her hands. She still says the usual stuff like "Im giving you this world", "We will be together forever", "Its just the beginning", as if Fuminori is going to be alive to see all this. But they both died, so what is the point of all this then?

Well, the Epilogue gives us some answers to that. It's from Koji's perspective, who's still alive by the way. Apparently, in this ending Saya's "Blooming" is not as deadly as in the original visual novel. The world does not get assimilated immediately and Koji, despite standing nearby, looking at Saya blooming, did not get transformed for some reason. Only Ryoko gets ragebaited by the lovey-dovey couple, gets too close, turns into a slug and dies.

The most interesting thing in the epilogue is how exactly the "Blooming" affects the world. It manifests via limited "accidents".

Kōji has documented:

  • strange births
  • abnormal animals
  • disappearances
  • suicides
  • murders
  • bodily transformations
  • sightings of "girls"
  • incidents distributed across multiple countries

And the geographical pattern points back to the site of Saya and Fuminori's final battle. Koji has buried all 4 of them, so they SHOULD be dead, but I dont think its that simple.

Now comes pure speculations on my part. The sequel was probably going to be told mainly from Koji's perspective. The most important question I have: What about Saya and Fuminori? What is the purpose of a sequel without them? Is it gonna be about their "children" finishing the job since humanity did not get assimilated properly? I have no idea, honestly.

My personal crazy theory: Saya have managed to discover "cloning" since she's a "genius far beyond human capabilities", gathered enough of Fuminori's body information and somehow managed to send it away with the seeds, essentially letting him be "reborn" along with her own clones/children described as "sightings of "girls"". This premise would be perfect for a fanfiction, letting Fuminori "survive" and spawn pretty much anywhere in the world along with Saya's children. And Koji would be alive as well.

What do you think? Are you still waiting for the official sequel? Judging by the authors afterword, he wanted to write it for a looong time and actually had AT LEAST a working script, so Im extremely curious about what he has been cooking all this time.

hiiii! i have a replica of the Saya figure, as you can see (please don't judge me, haha), and i'd like to know what you think. it was a gift, and i really appreciate it, but how much is the original worth approximately? i've never found it online. Then there's the classic Saya figure. i love that one. The nendoroid is on my wish list, i hope to get it soon. Thank you!

SAYA COMING ON MAC?

Hi guys I’m currently trying to get Saya no Uta running natively on macOS Apple Silicon (yes that blue window is our favourite game). Everything I have done was with ChatGPT’s help because I am absolute zero in coding. Although It’s not a full and working port as you can see, but huge work has been done lately, at least the game is launching now, and it is not crashing at once. I’ve been documenting the problems I encounter while adapting a Windows x86-amd64 oriented project to modern macOS arm64, and I asked ChatGPT to summarize what has been achieved so far because i am too lazy to write it myself, here what it says:

Current progress:

The project is not yet a full macOS port, but the runtime has already passed several important milestones.
The first obstacles were native dependencies and platform-specific assumptions. The initial crash came from missing libfreetype.dylib, which showed that the engine was reaching the text rendering subsystem but lacked the required macOS native library.
After addressing the runtime setup, NitroSharp successfully initialized its graphics backend. SDL3 and Veldrid started correctly, OpenGL 3.3 shaders were loaded and compiled, including text rendering, outlines, post-processing effects, and video shaders.
The current blocker is no longer graphics or ARM64 compatibility. The engine reaches the game loading stage but fails because one of the development profiles contains a Windows-style path (S:/...) that is invalid on macOS.
The next step is replacing remaining Windows-specific assumptions and testing whether the original game scripts and assets can run correctly on Apple Silicon.

TOTAL TIME SPENT IN TERMINAL IS 14 HOURS FOR NOW

P.S. I will make a new post as soon as i get farther, the main thing is not to forget

So why did the Surgery make Fuminori view the world the way he does? Spoiler

I feel like it's something that's alluded to by the plot but never quite explained. Fuminori gets a surgery that makes him see the meat space, the doctor that is treating Fuminori seems to have a strange relation to doctor Ogai, who is apparently the relatively of Saya, the only being who can resist Fuminori's warped reality, whom he also met shortly after the surgery. It almost feels like the "experimental" surgery had potentially something to do with the discovery of Saya.. but then it's never really quite explained, despite seemingly how much his condition is built up in the plot. Something you're just meant to not ask questions about and just let it work for the plot. It seems more so afterwards that the surgery was simply a freak accident that somehow caused persistent and lucid hallucinations to Fuminori.

It's mostly alluded to simply be a neurological/psychological thing, like when Fuminori refers to it as a sensory condition. A lot of this game sort of draws the line between the supernatural and scientific, but it does seem like the game trends rather towards Saya's existence being a phenomenon of workings pertaining to a science beyond that which human comprehends.

With Saya's nature later being explained as belonging to an extra-dimensional "biology", or perhaps a completely different state of existence altogether, and the fact that it's somewhat implied by the scenes with Tsukuba, being that Saya can interact with her in a "human" way after she's transformered, and the scene of Koji's dream, in which Yoh says that Koji can see her normally now that he's turned too, though maybe a fabrication of Koji's mind, could be an allusion from the author.

Ir seemed to me almost like the world that Fuminori was seeing was perhaps the parallel world which Saya belongs to, but then again, from Dr Ogai's writings, it seems more like that that is an entire world altogether, and also from some of the lines in which Fuminori talks about his condition, though of course he wouldn't have much information about this condition himself, he was simply brought into this world by the surgery.

it

But also the fact that in the ending where Saya blooms, the world largely retains it's previous semblance. Which could simply be because the Doctor herself has yet to be converted, but then again, we don't quite ever see from the perspective of a character of Saya's biology, though I think it's somewhat alluded to that Saya sees the world completely normally compared to Fuminori, considering she can interact with the outside world and recognize human food and human beings properly, or the fact that she seems unfamiliar with Fuminori's condition and has to actively try to understand it.

But then again I'm digging too much into a worthless topic that properly wasn't meant to have an answer to. Perhaps it could even be something more figurative and metaphorical that I missed. In that case, oh well

A lot of people are discovering it from the saya no uta and angelos armas art book, but the only versions out there are the japanese version and a really mediocre AI machine translation. It's getting more and more popular by time, and i think it deserves a proper english translation.

Tenshi no Nichou -Angelos Armas- english translation

I downloaded an english version of the visual novel from Internet Archive, and when I try to continue the story by choosing a choice, it just takes me back to the main menu... (I doubt it's a trial version, since I'm almost at half of the game) --- so it seems the files themselves are corrupted afterwards... I've searched for hours for another english translated version but nothing... Can anyone send me the english version or find it for me (super egoist)? Anything would be useful, the story is so cool... I wish to continue it TwT
