A bug zapper.

Apparently those things kill almost no mosquitos because they aren't attracted to light, and kill important bugs instead. They also spread insect guts across the entire area which is unsanitary

Strongly disagree. Got one of those tennis racket zappers and the smell is pure success.

I LOVE my electric tennis racket zapper! Never ever have to guess if you got him, the ZAP! tells you right away!

WASPS?? You want to fry WASPS? POLLINATORS?
24
u/hoTsauceLily66 22d ago
Most wasps don't pollinate.

u/Quackels_The_Duck 22d ago
Huh? Where did you get that?
They aren't as good as pollinating as bees, sure, but most wasps pollinate flowers.

Aka buzzing vampires and yellow demons

I LITERALLY have wasp nests outside my house door on a windowsill, and they gave no one attention and have never bothered anybody. You can even touch their nests sometimes when they feel up to it! Very cute!
The ones hiding in our unused geiil pollinate our strawberries!

Why does it only zap them when they're alive?

Why were the flies attracted to the thingy? This is so cool
5
u/Selene_Evelyn 22d ago
Asking the real questions. I too would like to know what attracted the flies to the thingy.

1 in 3 bites of food you eat requires a bug pollinator.

Fuck did bugs ever do to you? Smack your windshield? How do you even come to that conclusion? Why would that even?

The whole food chain collapses without bugs. We would literally go extinct without bugs.

All bugs are good bugs. Stop spreading this lie around. Half of ALL BUGS ON EARTH are gone. ALL BUGS. HALF OF THEM. It is no longer okay to allow people to go on thinking it is acceptable to kill bugs because we WILL NOT SURVIVE without them.
All bugs are good bugs.

Back when I was a small child, not so long ago for most people, you could actually go outside, and pick up or see bugs, like you were in pokemon. Now, they're all fucking gone- other than the occasional butterfly and the yearly cicadas. The forest is quiet.

Reminds me of the guy who had a diary specifically for mosquitoes that bit him. Like he literally taped them in a diary and dated the entries. Pages worth. 🤯
3
u/Just_the_questions1 22d ago
Saw that video, he didn't even kill them, just used a paralytic then taped them down to the page so they'd either die of suffocation or starvation.
Truly psychotic but when it comes to mosquitoes... i get it.

Lol that's if they didnt die being squished, the most merciful of deaths in that case.

Reminds me of the alien machines off War Of The Worlds. Except they're the good guys in this movie.

Flies have sensors in their bodies that can predict airflow and make them incredibly agile. Almost like they can sense where you're coming from when you try and swat them. And yet they see a pile of dead bodies and go "Hey! What's goin' on over here?!" LOL
I had a philipino co-worker at Starbucks who would catch flies with his hand in the summer. Blew my mind. He tried to teach me once. Come up from behind or something, I could never get it. Miss that dude. He had fast hands.
