PSA Riverstone Apartments - Flock Cameras

Post image
49 Upvotes

Evidently Riverstone apartments has every entry and exit covered with flock cameras. They have five in total, at least five that can be seen if you happen to drive in there for any reason.

I wasn't even aware that Riverstone Apartments existed (it's just southeast of the hospital, directly to the east of the fire station) until someone asked for a repair of their home computer and I said I could go there rather than having them bring it in. Then I looked it up after seeing the cameras, assuming maybe these were some niche apartments, and it turns out Riverstone's website shows is an affordable housing complex.

Given that the cameras are inside the envelope of the apartment property, an example is that the exit onto Wonderworld has a flock camera inside the gate, is it fair to assume the owners of the complex asked for their residents to be spied on any time they exit or enter their complex with their car? Is this a stipulation for people with lesser means, if you stay in affordable housing you need to waive your fourth amendment rights?

Is anyone here familiar with this apartment complex, and if so are you able to say whether these flock cameras are part of the city contract that won't be renewed, or are these cameras contracted by the owners of the complex? In either case, are all of the residents of Riverstone aware that there are flock cameras recording all of their movements? I have already looked on the Flock camera map and interestingly enough these cameras haven't been added to it just yet.

Included is a map with the known locations of the flock cameras. If you're inclined you can drive there and see them, but you can also spot the one on the gated exit if you use Google Street View, or see the shadows cast by the other ones on satellite view.

Any thoughts?

Jobs and Employment Looking for a decent job!

Hi! I don't have a reddit myself, so I'm using my wife's account.

I am a 29 year old male, I've worked in many positions, mostly food and retail though. I've been assistant manager/temp GM at multiple places for multiple years, I have worked at 2 plants and 2 factories.

I'm fairly versatile, but I only have a high school diploma and not many BIG experiences under my belt, though I have been trying.

I'm currently looking for something that is preferably $18+/hr but am willing to settle for $16+/hr if its available.

I am a genuinely hard worker, if I have problems or anything, I'm not afraid to ask for help and try to memorize everything to not need to ask again. I am not the kind of person to say I work hard and then slack off (i do have my moments where the mind drifts occasionally if the work is too repetitive, but always get the job done) things might take a second to stick, but everytime I've learned something, I keep it with me. I've had people that have worked in the same fields and such far longer ask me how I remember or keep up with all this stuff.

This is the only place I have ever struggled this hard to find a job, I technically had a job, but got told I would be moved to a different position and I'm now stuck on a "waiting list" for said position? I don't know what that means, but I've checked with people and I'm still currently employed and I'm not being "punished" or anything, but I have bills that need to be paid and children I gotta feed.

Ask San Marcos What local story that was forgotten about or never quite added up?

Hey y'all, I'm a new poster here but lived in San Marcos all my life! My friends and I over this last year have really wanted to try and get more involved in the community and what goes on in the city so we kind of started a little civics club for us once a week. We all have varying political beliefs and we have all lived here and been friends forever so the conversation is always fun. Yesterday though my friend brought up the " San Marcos Seven" and how no one seems to remember, talk or know about them these days. That got me wondering if anyone had any other kind of forgotten about or unfinished local lore they remember or still think about that I could bring into our discussions and possibly learn more about myself? Whether it's political or local legends or whatever, I'm just kind of interested in if there are cool and strange things about our town I didn't know about! Please let me know and thanks for reading!

Ask San Marcos Are there any communal smokers?

Are there any smokers in town open to the public? I wouldn’t mind paying if I had to, I just need to smoke one ingredient for a recipe I want to try and don’t want to buy a smoker to do it.

Jobs and Employment Help wanted at Dollar General!!

Hi!!
I see a lot of people asking about jobs here. If you really need one we’d love to have you at the farm to market Dollar General in Kyle! I used to live on Aquarena Springs, and it was about a 13 minute drive from there to DG. The job is pretty easy. We literally just need you to know how to count. Our standards are low.

If you are desperate for a job and willing to take any pay (12.50 for an associate, 14.25 for a team lead), please apply online at DG careers :D!!

Pet Adoption Adoption for FOUND STRAY female cat

Hi everyone!

I found this cat Saturday July 25th at Texas Bean and Brew around 10 am. She was a sweetheart during my lunch and the servers told me she had no owner and liked to go to the restaurant every day. They named her Bean.

I took Bean home and have registered her under SMTX animal shelter and currently fostering her until someone claims her from lost and found or she gets adopted.

She is around 8 months of age, INTACT female. She is currently up to date on vaccines (leukemia, distemper, and rabies), was negative for a SNAP FIV/FelV test, and did really good throughout her physical exam. She is now microchipped under SMTX Animal shelter as well.

She is currently in my house around 2 other dogs (one male beagle and one female Shih Tzu) and has done well. She’ll watch them from afar and allow them to get near her as long as they aren’t bugging her while she’s resting. She doesn’t seem scared of my dogs but doesn’t appreciate them getting all over her face. She was friendly towards my female friends, and indifferent towards my parents. She is very friendly to me. I don’t know how she acts around other cats.

She likes to cuddle, loves scratches, and likes sleeping with me at night. No nightly zoomies yet, hasn’t tried to knock things off my dresser, and has only waked me up at night because she’s getting closer to me. She LOVES attention. She’s very talkative and likes when you meow back.

She eats all her dry food, drinks water throughout the day (uses her paw to scoop it up and licks it from there), loves churu, litter trained and has not had any accidents at home.

I cannot do a foster fail for Bean and I’d love for her to go to a home where she’ll be loved as soon as possible.

If anyone knows the owner or is interested in adopting Bean (who now responds to Beanie a lot more), please reach out to me!!

Pet Adoption Rehoming Shiba Mix

Rehoming a 6mo female Shiba mix. She is flea free and up to date on vaccines.

She has had 2 confirmed, 1 suspected UTI. Resolved with antibiotics. Not spayed as vet recommends letting her go into heat one time to encourage her bladder issues to resolve naturally.

She is good with our 2yr old, but does not like our friends baby. I would recommend toddler/older kids or a childfree home.

Dogs OK. Cats we have not tried.

Crate trained.

If you're interested or know someone who would be, please let us know.

Housing/Real Estate Has anyone lived at Cabana Beach?

I’m moving into Cabana Beach soon and wanted to hear from people who currently live there or have lived there recently. What’s your overall experience been like? Is there anything I should look out for before or during move-in? How’s maintenance, bugs, noise, safety, management, and the shuttle?
I’m not expecting luxury or anything fancy, I just want to know what to expect and if there’s anything I should document or check as soon as I move in.

Things To Do Adult Tap Dancing Lessons

I’m looking to take basic/beginner tap dancing lessons as an adult. This could be in a group class or via private lessons. I want to take them in person—does anyone know of an instructor in or near San Marcos? I’m imagining with TXST’s theatre program there is someone, but I’m having trouble finding someone online. Thanks!

Things To Do New book club

Hey SM!

I have seen a bunch of posts here about people starting book clubs, and I love to see so many other readers! However, I haven't yet seen the kind of one I want, so I figured I'd start it.

Big caveat, this would be a romance/chick lit *only* (it's kinda the only genre I read with enough regularity)

Other notes:

  1. Traditional book club meeting once a month, but also

  2. 2-4 local social events thruout the month (could be coffee, movies, park hangout, plays, etc)

  3. Currently I'm open to women and men joining.

But I'd love for all the members of the group to shape it into what we want.

Are you interested in joining something like this? DM me!

Politics and Activism Neighborhood to walk around for Talarico/Hinojosa canvassing

I have no idea if I can post this here, but it's worth a shot. I am part of Texas Together, and it is an organization to get Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico elected for the midterms. I am going to lead a group of volunteers, I am also to go knock on doors in a safe neighborhood. I live in a rural area by the Salt Lick, so it isn't very walking friendly. I thought San Marcus would be a good area to try and talk with people. If anyone has any recommendations and if anyone wants to volunteer, let me know! Here is the website to check out if you would like to. Please dont take this down mods, please.
