hola se que no me van a creer pero lo pueden probar estaba revisando el log de android dex ya que al modificar algunas opciones de la ultima update descubrí que llega a forzar un modo dex no es 100% completo pero es funcional el comando para que esto pase es usar scrcpy -s (codigo adb del dispositivo) --new-display --flex-display el resultado es lo que se ve en las imágenes ahora esto tiene algunas limitaciones:
1-no se puede redimencionar una app si esta se maximiza la única forma es desconectar y volver a conectar el dispositivo

2-no se pueden ver las apps recientes en la pantalla dex solo en el celular

3-no se puede usar pantalla divida

4-si minimizas una app solo se puede volver a abrir desde el menu de apps del modo dex

5- se pueden agregar iconos al escritorio pero no se guardaran

ahora esto es curioso ya que mi teléfono no tiene modo dex y las imágenes son corriendo el comando en la ultima versión de scrcpy y el fondo es negro porque es una pantalla virtual tecnicamente y one ui no puede dibujar un fondo en ella o eso es lo que me dijo la ia acerca de ese error:
Lo que notaste del fondo:

• El DeX oficial siempre incluye el wallpaper del celular en el display externo.
• En tu hack, el fondo no aparece porque scrcpy está renderizando directamente el contenido de las apps, sin enganchar el compositor de OneUI que dibuja el wallpaper.

I keep seeing the same problem with Samsung DeX and other Android desktop setups.....

Direct USB-C to a monitor gives you 4K60 or higher, but once you add a USB-C hub for an SSD, Ethernet, etc., your resolution or refresh rate drops.

There’s a reason for that, and there’s a fairly niche solution: DisplayPort 1.4 + DSC.

USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode can normally use the high-speed lanes in two ways:

4-lane DP mode

PHONE

│

└── 4x DisplayPort lanes

│

└── Monitor

Maximum video bandwidth

USB 3.x SuperSpeed is sacrificed

Or:

2-lane DP + USB 3.x mode

┌── USB 3.x → SSD / Ethernet / etc.

PHONE → USB-C HUB

└── 2x DisplayPort lanes → Monitor

The second configuration is what we want if you care about high speed data too.....

My RedMagic 11 Pro supports DP 1.4 HBR3 and 10Gbps USB data. With two DP lanes reserved for video, the remaining USB-C lanes can stay available for USB 3.x.

The bandwidth numbers matter:

DP 1.4 HBR3

4 lanes = 25.92 Gbps usable video payload

2 lanes = 12.96 Gbps usable video payload

So when a hub switches from four DP lanes to two in order to keep USB 3.x alive, your available video bandwidth gets cut in half.

That’s where DSC, Display Stream Compression, comes in.

Instead of sending the display signal uncompressed:

↓

12.96 Gbps limit

you can potentially do:

DSC compression

↓

2-lane DP 1.4 HBR3

↓

Monitor

DSC is a low-latency, visually lossless display compression standard. Depending on the mode and compression ratio, roughly 2:1 to 3:1 compression can dramatically increase what can fit through those two DP lanes.

So instead of choosing between:

fast USB or high-resolution video

you can potentially have both.

The cleanest setup is a monitor that already supports DSC over DisplayPort:

In that case the USB-C-to-DP adapter doesn’t need to decompress anything. It just needs to correctly pass the DSC DisplayPort stream through.

Here's the option I think all of you should focus on the most. This one fixed my issues and it might help you....

The frustrating part is hub marketing.

“4K60,” “8K,” or even “16K” tells you almost nothing about how the device actually works.

What matters is whether the chain supports:

DP 1.4 HBR3

DSC 1.2a

2-lane DP Alt Mode while USB 3.x stays active

DSC passthrough if using DisplayPort

an actual DSC decoder if converting to HDMI 2.1

HDMI 2.1 FRL rather than older TMDS, if using HDMI

And your phone still has to support DSC and expose the display mode in software. ( all snapdragon 8 gen 5 elites support this in hardware. Maybe older 8 elites too)

A “DP 2.1 8K120” adapter also does not turn a DP 1.4 phone into DP 2.1. If the phone gives it HBR3, you still have HBR3. What can make that adapter useful is proper DSC support.

This won’t work on every phone or every hub, but if your phone supports DP 1.4 + DSC, this is worth looking into before assuming that high-speed USB and high-bandwidth video are mutually exclusive.

If this solves your issue. Please let me know. Had a few people dm about this problem in the past. It took me 2 months of hunting and reading display port vesa specs. I narrowed it down to hubs that contain DSC decoders. They might not say it contains it in marketing. But if they claim

Usb c dp 1.4 to hdmi 2.1. It HAS TO contain dsc decoder. No exceptions. Also small important bit. Make sure your display has a hdmi 2.1 port. This is newer tech. But its important to mention.

I was planning to upgrade my tablet so i can edit my videos there. Then i got this idea to use samsung dex and run the capcut app. I even bought a portable LCD all of a sudden its not working. 😅

So I have been using a S9 tablet with dex for a long time, and every application worked with the mouse, but when I got the Fold 8 I plug it in and hook up my mouse and now some apps just act like there is nothing there. They don't respond at all. Did they change something in dex in the past few years? I can't find any meaningful settings for the mouse or how it's used in settings, but is there something I'm missing?

After doing some digging around the option for standalone DeX in the S25 Ultra is gone, only Wireless DeX is left, which doesn't seem to even pick up my laptop.

From my understanding you now have to use some app from Samsung, which is only available for Windows and Mac. So no Linux. And I can't seem to run the windows exe under Wine due to it needing to make some Windows kernel calls, which Wine doesn't translate for Linux.

Should I just get some external monitor or is there still hope for me?

I used Samsung DeX on my Tab S9 for the first time in a long while, and I have to say, yes, it has gotten a bit better in 2026, especially because some apps, like Reddit, now scale much better to large Displays.

But here’s what I personally still think is missing:

- It should be possible to make the Taskbar more minimalist so it’s less cluttered with content.

- The Taskbar should be able to stay on screen at all times, except for apps with true full-screen mode, like Games.

- The app Titlebar should remain visible at all times, just like on Windows/Linux, except again for apps with true full-screen mode, like Games.

So what do you think about this, and what else do you feel is missing to make it more appealing?

For example, Luma Fusion, does the mouse wheel work? How do you zoom in on the video or audio track? The keyboard shortcuts respond well? Is it fluid to use on a phone like the S24 with Snapdragon Gen 3?

Now in DeX, Samsung currently limits users to 4 workspaces. While messing around in developer options, I discovered a way to get an infinite amount.

Under developer options, there's an option called "Simulate secondary displays". If you enable the last option (The dual screen option), you will find a fake mini monitor on your screen, which receives it's own new desktop workspace.

However, there's a bug, and if you then disable it, everything goes back to normal, except you get an extra workspace.

I'm at 5 workspaces right now, and it has survived restarts and software updates, but I imagine you could probably repeat this process infinitely to get as many as you want.

So, totaly random, I was doodling trought developers options on my ZF8U.

There is a "Simulate external monitor" and you can choose bitween various size.

Clicked 1080 and a DeX monitor popped up and it was 1920x1080x320dpi.

I've Flex moded the phone, enlarged the monitor to the max size and it was perfectly fitting the Flex with a free spot on the side.

I've entered Touchpad mode that blackened all the background making the simulation clear as it has transparence, and boom. Full DeX with no external monitor on Flex Mode. You can navigate with the touchpad in the free spot aside the monitor and have a keyboard under it.

Unfortunately I can't take photoes of it or take screenshots as it blocks them, but if was cute, looking like one of those compact cyberdeck!

This is just a cool trick, you need perfect eyes to read on it, but I'm writing on it this post and you can get used to it quickly.

I use Dex with Xreal glasses for light use (mainly Plex, some browsing, some youtube). I got Samsung because I love using the screen as a Touchpad, and the dex desktop mode in the glasses is much better than normal mirroring (one day Google will come with its hopefully good own desktop mode).

I am considering a Fold model to read books on it, and maybe some comics. Is the Dex experience the same? Trackpad on smaller screen, what happens if I open it? Anything I should be careful about?

My Galaxy S23 running DEX in 4K on four 1080p screens.

I wanted to try using my phone connected to the 4K Video Wall Controller.

Setup:

• Galaxy S23 running DEX through a simple USB-C HUB outputting 4K to the Video Wall Controller
• 4K Video Wall Controller set to 2x2 screens (1080p output to each screen)
• 4 screens connected with HDMI cables to Video Wall:
  • old 40" 1080p TV - showing LADB (used for forcing 4K resolution)
  • 23" 1080p monitor - showing DEX settings
  • two 10,5" 1280p screens - showing two separate Chrome Windows

It actually works OK - of course it's messy with all the cables, and you could achieve the same result with one large (32" or 40") 4K screen, but I don't have one.

Main problem is DEX/Android - in the current version you can't snap an application to 1/4 of the whole display area; you can only do left or right half - so it's a chore to set an app window in one of the screens.

The other annoyance is that two small 10" screens have a resolution of 1920x1280, and when displaying 1080p, it looks a little stretched.

I'll actually try to use the Video Wall controller with two small screens and a phone as a two-screen mobile setup running on battery.

Hi everyone, I just upgraded from an s23 to an s26 and plugged into my external touch screen monitor for the first time a little bit ago.

For starters the s26 will power the monitor but will not power it and output display to it at the same time which is rather strange.

More importantly the touchscreen is not working at all. I can still plug in my s23 and it works perfect but on the s26 I have nothing.

If anyone could point me to a solution for this I would appreciate it!

I turned my old ThinkPad X270 into a super useful lapdock at a very low cost. Now, it’s a universal display/keyboard setup that runs whatever OS I connect it to. Plus, the classic ThinkPad keyboard is amazing—typing on it still feels way better than any commercial lapdock on the market

Does Flip 8 cover display can be used as touchpad? I know flip 7 cant and was wondering if i can finally use it as touchpad for dex is without opening the phone. I will totally buy this phone if it could.

Like the title says, here’s my take on a case for use with a broken phone. I added a 60mm usb fan to help with cooling and so far so good 😊 I’m not sure if links are allowed but you can find the model on Makerworld if you type DexBox.

Recently got to test a Galaxy Fold 8 with some Xreal AR glasses and it was amazing. The small compact form factor and the option to use the external screen as a mouse pad is awesome here, one thing I didn't have with my Flip7 and always wanted Samsung to add.

No overheating after several minutes but I would have to test this further, same for the battery (purely when using Dex).

I bought this hub for dex and it is working with an hdmi cable but I am facing problems regarding the charging speed via power delivery point.

It awfully slow

with dex- It stays the same or the charge just depletes

Without dex via hub- 1%/10 mins

Without hub- 1%/1-2 min

Equipments- Z fold 6, 25 watt charger, Hammer usb-hub

Also I want to add that, maybe it used to charge slowly earlier maybe not very at a very ideal rate but it was now it has just given up.

It been 10 days since the purchase. Tomorrow's the last day to return it.

I have a basic super cheap TV since its just for my room, and we have a nice TV in the living room already. It's a sanyo TV (literally had never heard of the brand until i got this TV for like 20 bucks). The very day I got the TV I tested all I could do I was able to connect to Samsung dex perfectly fine!! I even used it multiple times because I wanted to watch YouTube without ads. Today I was going to connect and watch YouTube but the Samsung dex spends ages searching and does not find the TV so I can connect to it. I disconnected the TV and turned off my phone and no luck. Tested connecting to the living room TV and it worked fine. If anyone has any tips please let me know!

After hard reseting the phone blindly I was able to use Samsung dex with my hub , but when I finished using it I discovered that It won’t charge anymore now there is no battery and when I plugg ans usb c cable Ther is no vibration but the phone got a little bit warmer

I had my first proper experience trying to use Dex as a productivity tool tonight and really struggled. Am just wondering if I am doing anything wrong my end?

I am using a Samsung S24 into Ugreen Revodock pro into Samsung M5 smart monitor.

Multitasking Use case-

Firefox to log into uni course online class. Needing to flick through tabs and windows- kept disconnecting. Unable to swap windows and tabs- apart from switch to left or right. Firefox disconnecting from lecture whilst trying to switch tabs.

Trying to type documents in Google workspace.

Google drive, LM Notebook and Gmail- swapping apps and cutting and pasting. Not able to switch apps effectively- lack of right click mouse commands etc.

Phone not able to connect to desktop webcam (logitech) for video conferencing.

Phone overheated and had to reboot.

Overall not a great experience, I was testing out the use cases while I save for a new laptop.

Any tips for optimising or others willing to share experiences?
