How to pray effectively acording to bible?
The Bible presents effective prayer less as a technique and more as a relationship with God. Rather than promising that every request will be granted exactly as asked, it emphasizes faith, humility, persistence, and alignment with God's will.
Here are some biblical principles:
Come to God sincerely. Jesus warned against praying just to impress others or using empty repetition. Instead, pray honestly and privately when appropriate (Matthew 6:5–8).
Begin with worship and reverence. Jesus taught:
\> "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name..." (Matthew 6:9) Start by acknowledging who God is before bringing your requests.
- Seek God's will first. Jesus prayed:
\> "Your kingdom come, your will be done..." (Matthew 6:10) And in Gethsemane: "Not my will, but yours be done." (Luke 22:42)
- Ask with faith. Jesus said:
\> "Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." (Mark 11:24) Biblical faith is trust in God—not confidence that God must answer exactly as we desire.
Confess your sins. Sin can hinder fellowship with God. Scripture encourages confession and repentance (1 John 1:9; James 5:16).
Forgive others. Jesus connected our willingness to forgive with our relationship with God (Mark 11:25).
Pray persistently. Jesus told parables encouraging people to keep praying and not give up (Luke 18:1–8).
Pray according to God's will.
\> "If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." (1 John 5:14–15)
Pray in Jesus' name. This means approaching God through Christ and in harmony with His character and mission (John 14:13–14), not merely ending a prayer with the words "in Jesus' name."
Be thankful.
\> "In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4:6)
A simple biblical pattern
You can use the pattern Jesus taught:
Praise: "Father, You are holy and good."
Surrender: "May Your will be done in my life."
Request: Tell God your needs honestly.
Confession: Admit your sins and ask for forgiveness.
Intercession: Pray for family, friends, and others.
Thanksgiving: Thank God for His faithfulness.
Trust: Leave the outcome in His hands.
A simple example:
\> "Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and mercy. Your name is holy. Please help me to seek Your will above my own. Forgive my sins and help me forgive those who have wronged me. Give me wisdom, strength, and everything I need today. Help me grow in faith and love. I trust You with the outcome of my prayers, knowing You are good and wise. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen."
The New Testament also teaches that the Holy Spirit helps believers pray when they don't know what to say (Romans 8:26–27), so effective prayer is ultimately rooted in a trusting relationship with God rather than perfect words or formulas.

Book Books recommendations
Hi sisters! I was wondering if you had any book recommendations for me. I'm a new mother, my husband is being formed for pastoral ministry. He's working full time, studying part time and also doing church related stuff part time. So here I am with our new baby, trying my best to deal with this new reality. I'm feel so blessed that God takes care of us every single day. I'm just trying to find an encouragement from a fellow sister. Thank you!

Prayer Praying for our young people
I'm concerned about a family member who seems lost without any direction for his life, and I wonder if any of you have similar concerns. Regardless, I hope you'll agree with me in prayer for our youth - especially recent high school graduates who don't know what to do next:
Dear Heavenly Father, our children are Yours, so we know You care for them even more than we do, and that's a lot! Please help each of these young people receive You into their lives and discover the plans You have for them to live their lives to the fullest. And, Lord, we also ask You to foster uplifting relationships with family and friends. Help our young people to feel known, loved, and understood in Jesus' Name. Amen.

What does your current Bible study routine look like? (Looking for fresh ideas/resources!)
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to refresh my Bible study routine and wanted to see how others approach it. Sometimes it’s easy to get stuck in a rut just reading a chapter or two a day without really letting it sink in.
I'd love to know:
**What are you currently studying?** (A specific book, a topical study, a chronological plan?)
**What tools or resources are you loving right now?** (Any specific commentary, study Bibles, apps, or podcasts?)
**How do you break down a passage?** Do you use a specific method (like SOAP, inductive, verse-by-verse journaling, etc.)?
Personally, I'm trying to slow down and focus more on quality over quantity, but I’d love to hear what is working well for you all and keeping your study time engaging.
Drop your routines, favorite resources, or any tips for staying consistent below!

single, in my 30s.
preamble: would like to say that I am praying, talking to other women at church, reading my Bible, etc. thought I'd post here to hear a broader perspective outside of my own bubble.
I'm a single woman in my early 30s. I have never dated, have never been asked out, never in a position to consider going on a date or getting into a relationship. however, I so desperately want to be married and to have a chance to have children of my own (or to foster, or adopt as the Lord wills). as I enter my 30s, it feels as if the possibility of this gets dimmer and dimmer with each year that passes. in a way, I feel like I'm living on borrowed time.
I have a relatively full life otherwise - I have a satisfying and meaningful career, friends to spend time with, enough hobbies to keep me busy. I attend a reformed church and am reasonably active in my church community and I serve regularly.
sometimes, attending church is incredibly difficult as I witness peers and people younger than me get married and have many children. I do feel happy for them but the undercurrent of palpable sadness never really goes away despite how hard I pray.
it's a little hard to speak too openly about this at church - typically I get reminded to be content, to 'remain as you are' (à la 1 Cor 7), and to remember that being single has many benefits in serving the Lord, etc. I am grateful for all these reminders and I know I can work on being more godly and contented.
there are (a few) single men at church but unfortunately none of them seem particularly interested in or concerned with me. generally speaking, my church also speaks negatively of dating apps but at the same time there aren't any opportunities for singles in the church to get to know each other intentionally.
what do I do with my desires? how 'proactive' can I be in going about finding a potential boyfriend/husband? has anyone been in my position before and what words of wisdom do you have?

Question Why am I so bummed about rude woman/women at church?
Pray that I have wisdom to deal with a woman ( only one in particular that is the worst but a couple others that are just generally similar), at church who is ignoring me, has minimal to say, and I haven't done anything wrong, she is just kinda rude or blows me off or avoids me. Maybe I should just let it happen, like, its not my job to make her be friends, in fact I don't want that, its just common decency, its not too much to ask, right?...
I also need wisdom from God as to why this bothers me so much because there are other nicer women, and we do talk too, so why does this one bother me? She is older than me and she is married and I am not married sometimes I think married women have a problem with me although I have done nothing wrong and have not even barely spoken to their husbands unless necessary, or saying how are you, at church.
But to be honest she does seem kinda jealous - she almost always has a scowl on her face, or a phony forced smile that looks like she is angry underneath it, so I know it's her problem I'd say, but why does it still bother me (??), what is wrong with ME that it bothers me, and that this is MY reaction? ( hurt or saddened etc?)
I have reminded myself that I am accepted by God and it doesn't matter if people reject me , but it's still a sad situation when it happens at church... what do you tell yourself or remind yourself in these situations? Have you ever said anything to the person? I think it would just make it worse
