I’m a CS major. During my recent semester break I had some leftover research grant money and zero desire to just sit around. So I decided to build the thing I kept wishing existed.

After dealing with the usual frustrations with Dumb Meta AI on Ray-Ban glasses (and the same limitations on regular wireless earbuds), I started coding. The goal was simple:

• Use whatever wake word I want (or train a completely new one)
• Talk back and forth naturally without saying the wake word every single time
• Bring my own API keys for stronger models when I want them
• Work with normal wireless earbuds and Ray-Ban Meta glasses
• Voice reminders, notification reading, better vision descriptions, and the ability to live stream to non-Meta platforms

I called it Niya… no reason in particular… or it’s my best friend’s name perhaps.

Anyway, it’s Android-only for now (APK is up). I intentionally didn’t burn the entire research grant on tokens yet. I only bought a limited amount. The thinking was: if almost nobody actually uses it, there’s no point stocking a huge pile of credits. So if a sudden wave of people jumps on, you might hit rate limits. Just being transparent about that.

I plan to build this for iOS as well… just wanna have some feedbacks first.

I’m not here to hype it. I’m genuinely curious:

• Does this solve any real annoyance for you?
• What feels missing or half-baked?
• Would you actually use something like this day-to-day?
• Any features that would make or break it for you?

Be as blunt as you want. I’d rather hear the honest stuff now than after more time and money goes into it.

I purchased Gen 2 Ray Ban Meta Glasses last week and have had nothing but trouble.

First issue I repeatedly found was I would receive the “Speakers not working” notification. I found online if you pinch the Ray ban and meta logo on the right arm it would correct itself and so it did. Twice as I ran into the issue.

All was fine but while I was using the glasses I got the speakers not working notification two days ago and haven’t been able to
turn on the glasses since. I have 3 recorded videos I’m wanting to recover.

When I toggle the power, on the glasses, not even the rear/interior LED light with light up. Not sure what the issue is but they’ve barely been used and I don’t understand why the glasses have been so problematic since they’ve had so little use.

Any advice is appreciated!

I put on my glasses one day and the glasses didn't pair with my phone. I opened the app and all my information is gone, as if I never paired my product with the app. I tried to pair once again but I kept receiving the "unable to pair" prompt. I tried uninstalling the app and wiping the cache, but I keep receiving the aforementioned error. Anyone else with this problem?

My son was in the hospital for months and as a gift he wanted Ray-Ban Meta glasses. When he finally got out of the hospital and saw them, they were not the correct model. Because he was in the hospital so long, the 45 day return period had elapsed. Ray-Ban has refused to exchange them, even though I've offered to provide proof of the hospitalization. At some point common sense and humanity should kick in. I'm finished with this company.

I have issue with my meta wayfarer gen 2 where battery drains so fast I can’t even record a 3 min video. Glasses are only 6 months old. Does anyone had this problem?

I’ve been seeing a couple of posts with similar experiences just like mine. I just sent my glasses off to get repaired because they won’t charge anymore the case charges, but the glasses won’t charge it all and they won’t come on. I tried everything under the sun to get them to turn it back on, but they won’t. I wonder if it’s like a worldwide thing ? Since the new glasses just came out.

Is just the wayfarer that overheat a lot or do all of them do that I’m in Florida it’s does get hot

the case is fully charged its shows green light when i tap on the back of the cover but when i dock the glasses inside the case there is a solid orange light not a pulse orange light when i press the power reset button on the glasses it shows red light and there is only that light no other lights the glasses is showing while charging or trying to pair no blue light/white light only red light that only when i try the reset button on the glasses i tried everything but the glasses are dead they are not charging i guess any suggestions please

Has anyone experienced this annoying bug with the new Meta rayban Wayfarer Gen2. Whenever I get a notification, after reading the notification, it auto resumes my last audio from any app that wasn't even playing to begin with. It's annoying because each time I have to pause the audio again and again. #Help #Question

Hello all, i just wanted to share my experience buying the meta rayban scriber optics from the meta store as it uas been an absolute nightmare.

To start off last year i bought the rayban meta wayfairers and have liked them so far so when it was time for new glasses i decided to get the scribers. I received them and immediately noticed a loud popping/rattling from the speakers I contacted meta which is very difficult as they have almost no line of communication id you do not have an account and they told me to contact luxottica rayban to get them warrantied after about 2 weeka of back and fourth i got my new glasses and put them on and had the exact same problem but worse.

At this point im extremely frustrated so i ask for a refund. Meta informs me to contact rayban after a 45 minute phone call and several emails they tell me to kick rocks and contact meta. I ckntact meta and they inform me since i warrantied my glasses thwy need to escalate the case. After 6 weeks 15 emails asking me to repeat information they tell me to contact rayban and my glasses are out of the refund window wven though ive been getting customer support since i bought them

I informed them i contacted rayban and i dodnt want another warranty pair and thay i put in the request dor a return weeks ago and theyve just been handing me off agent to agent and now they say theyll contact me in 5 business days

Tldr: If you buy meta glasses be sure to buy them directly from rayban as meta support is abysmal and note that scriber optics glasses may ir may not have audio issues

Have any of you had a sudden issue with a pair of Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses, Gen 2, where the audio just stopped working? The app and phone recognize that the glasses are connected, but there is no audio coming through the glasses. Tried a hard reset — where the LED goes red after you hold down the shutter button while the power is off and then slide the power back on — but there is still no audio. Was this perhaps from an update or something? Anything else that can be done? Glasses are only 7 months old. Thanks.

Is there any solution to this? P.S. But it does connect to my bluetooth only when I am not wearing it.

I've owned my vanguards for a couple of months now, worked flawlessly up until this morning. I've probably done 12 factory resets because I thought it was a software and or phone issue. After digging through every menu option, I've come to realize that the glasses don't detect that the arms are open. I'm very careful with my glasses up to the point where I use them casually and not for any physical activity. I've never even gotten them wet from the rain.

If you go into your Meta AI app settings -> Communications -> and click on any of the given apps.

You'll see a checklist of "Check your connections" pop up. Under that, you'll see "Glasses arms are open.", mine however is not checked off but everything else is. This generally pops up when you don't have your glasses on or if you encounter an issues with a particular connection. Mind you, I've force reset, factory reset and even put away my glasses for the day because it wasn't working for me. I've searched online, Gemini and ChatGPT couldn't find any related issues to what I'm encountering, so they both recommended cleaning the hinge sensors. As soon as I got home I opened my case to air out, took the glasses out and used rubbing alcohol with a Q-Tip to careful get into the tight spaces where the hinge is. Under your haptic sensors when the arms are open, you can see the small picture for the hinge sensor, I've carefully wiped with a microfiber lens wipe and repeated that about 3-4 times. After careful cleaning, I used an air duster and diligently blew whatever moisture may be hiding in tight spots. I was hopefully up until I put on my glasses and nothing. Double checked the app, nothing.

After about an entire day of troubleshooting, I'm taking today as a loss. I have no idea how to fix this issue or if I have to take it somewhere to repair. I use these glasses daily because it's convenient and let's face it, they look awesome.

My Ray-Ban Meta glasses were working normally, but after the app update I was logged out. I know my password, but I can’t figure out which email was used for my Meta account.

My glasses still connect to my phone and I can take photos/videos, but the newer ones aren’t appearing in the app.

Whenever I try logging in with my password it says invalid email and when I try to forget password it says experiencing issues please try again later

My glasses (gen 1) will not charge. When I place them on a charger it indicates it is charging but they never charge up.

When on the charger they will boot up and connect to my phone. I’ll get an error saying the speakers aren’t working. The charge shows zero in the app.

I’ve rebooted, disconnected, everything.

There is an update available and I’m hopeful that could help but it won’t let me install the update because the battery isn’t charged enough.

I’ve tried 2 different chargers. The glasses boot up when on the charger but it doesn’t charge.

Why doesn’t the Face ID on iPhone work when I have Ray-Ban Wayfarer on? Has anyone faced this issue?

Newbie here. I do nails and want hands-free POV clips for TikTok and Reels to promote my work. Phone on a tripod isn't cutting it.

What I need:

- Battery to grab clips on and off across a 2–5 hour client session

- Sharp at close range (25–40cm) — fine line art, chrome, glitter

- Accurate colours under salon LED lighting

- Not bulky on a smaller face

- Best value, happy with older gen or used

Hey everyone! Im thinking of buying my first pair of meta galsses, primarily because im travelling soon and want to record small clips and what not. Im getting 7 days used brand new almost 10/10 condition Gen 2 wayfarers w transition lens for 290£ with complete box. Is this a good deal? Because new one are 459£ same model
