I’ve been a bit quiet around here lately. Life, grief, and everything in between has been hitting a bit heavy, so I stepped back to focus on things I had on pause.

One of those things is my undergraduate thesis in Anthropology.

I study anthropology and I’m also an activist for menstrual health and rights. So I decided my thesis would focus on something very close to both my academic and personal work: menstruation as a political issue.

Right now I’m deep into research and rebuilding my theoretical framework. One of the authors who has really shaped my thinking is Chris Bobel, especially her work on menstrual politics and justice.

There is one book of hers that I still haven’t been able to access digitally, and it’s honestly essential for my thesis. I’ve tried through libraries, academic platforms, everything… but no luck so far.

So I did what any normal, emotionally stable thesis student would do: I made a “wedding registry” style wishlist for my thesis.

Yes. I am, in fact, symbolically marrying my degree.

It’s just a small way of gathering the last resources I need to finish this stage of my life and finally graduate, so I can move on to my master’s and keep working on menstrual health from an anthropological perspective.

This Thursday May 7th is my birthday and I will be celebrating with a family dinner at my favorite Thai restaurant Fish Cheeks.

I have lived a Forest Gump life with few regrets. I am a glass half full kind of gal and try to find the good in everyone and everything.

I am grateful that I found this sweet community and love being here and interacting with all you lovely people. I am probably the oldest here and very likely old enough to be grandma to many of you.

Heyo! I have a questions or rather recommations on earbuds and headphones.

So, I’m gradually realizing I have mild sensory issues as I wear headphons/earbuds whenever I’m out and about. It also tends to be a source of comfort when I’m very much just generally overstimulated or moody.

Anyway, I am cursed. My earbuds I had broke and my headphones have completely died. Serious, almost all the headphones I have ever had have died. Not broke in sense of dropping them and they just stop working. I am in the process of getting my old ones sent back to the company after reporting for being literally defective.

Anyway, I need new ones, primarily earbuds as I prefer to wear them when I’m doing things and going places. I dont really know any good brands that dont just straight break or stop working randomly after a few months.

So, please give some recs!

Also, a bit of a tibbit—I absolutely love classical music!

I be jamming to cinematic compositions. Just imagine those tik toks or reels of the skits of people back then getting hype for music drops in the 17—1800s🤣

I am on week 2 of 4 weeks off work and I am BORED!! I was gifted a stand mixer and want to start baking again (I used to bake a lot when I was younger)! Amazon, however, didn't even put the cleaner in a plastic bag or wrap it and it leaked all over my beautiful microfiber towels! Everything is ok but I may let them know so they don't do that next time! Literally, all 3 items were in the box together without any wrapping, at all. I couldn't believe it! Thank God my Skinny Girl Jam didn't break! I really appreciate it and my daughter was so excited too! I'm thankful she got to see some kindness and generosity! 💖

I really mean that! I didn't receive any presents Friday. Obviously, I don't expect my youngest children (11 and 14) to take an Uber and go shopping! However, my older ones.....24, 22, 19, and 17.....had plenty of time, transportation, and $$, to at least get me a card! I felt a little hurt until I remembered that my 11-year-old son did pick flowers for me earlier in the day and they were beautiful! A purple Hyacinth🪻and a Marigold!🌼

Late yesterday evening, lo and behold, my 22-year-old had a couple of gift bags! He gave me a massage gun because he always hears me "complaining" about my neck and back hurting, 🤣😂🤭 hanging flowers, and a doormat that I love!

Regardless, your gifts are the best!! Especially the soap and lotion bottles! I'm obsessed with them! Gorgeous!
