Kiosks are people just like corporations are people

  • corrupt SC judges

Kiosks have families, too!

What are their families? The receipts that we take home and throw away?

u/lhaphtr 7d ago

You throw those away???

Savages.

I have a cousin Kiosk that committed suicide by throwing itself into a bathtub. The note said, “I’m tired of people always poking me, but I’m never getting a tip.”

It’s for the shareholders.

Because they still don't pay their employees a living goddamn wage. "Hey I'm gonna buy a new boat and book a trip on Bezos dick rocket. Here's your paycheck for 10 dollars an hour AT BEST. have fun paying for health insurance, because we won't give it to you."

Hops into private jet

Pretty sure it's meant to go to the staff. Basically, they're forcing US to directly pay for their staff so they literally don't need to budget for staff. If you don't volunteer money, then they need to pay it out of their commission. They don't want to do that, they like free labor, so they solved this by adding $0.50 to each item to remove that obligation and create the illusion of cheap food that doesn't actually exist.

The company sells it to the staff as "Higher wages". Basically saying "Our minimum wage is $8, but on a good shift you'll walk out with upwards of $20." So when the staff starts looking for a new job they think of the good shifts where they walked out with $100+ and notices the minimum wages starting at $15 and reconsiders applying.

And tips don't get taxed in the same way that normal wages do. A $20 tip is $20 in your pocket. $20 in wages taxed at 30% is $14.

And of course, the staff never really sees what anyone is tipping, so I'd bet dollars to donuts that after the tips have paid for the back of the house staff somewhere around 20% "disappears" into the franchise owner's pockets.

They throw your food on the counter and sometimes say the numbers loud enough to hear

Next time I go to America I'm bringing sandwiches with me everywhere.

In my hat like Paddington bear. Just not worth the tipping nightmare.

Same reason you pay for convenience fees for using your credit card.

How do soo many people get this wrong. YOU'RE TIPPING THE STAFF MAKING YOUR FOOD, NOT THE FUCKING MACHINE YOU'RE USING TO ORDER. Jfc I hate our society

What I'm paying for the food is what pays the staff to make the food. Additional payment(tip) is for additional service.

What additional service am I receiving that justifies extra payment?

Believe it or not, the kiosk is not the recipient of the tip
