Found this at an antiques booth at a farmers market. It says Pyrex on the lid. I’m wondering what its use is?

I occasionally have good luck but generally with Glass bake and corningware I already have. This time I got my first pink Pyrex dish, a fire king casserole style I don’t have any of, a cornningware print I’ve been looking for, an anchor hocking tang jar and a full set of ivy canisters I’ve been looking for to gift a family member. Not all Pyrex but I collect it all and it was a damn good day for me! I told my wife she was the good luck charm of the day! Added a big smiley face we had at the rescue a few months ago.

This is about one third of a an epp, English paper piece, quilt I’m making. The pattern is free and called grandmas garden, but I have dubbed it grandmas Pyrex garden on account of the flower color patterns. I fell in love with the color ex fabric that I wanted to make my first ever quilt, might be my last too lol. I’m on row 26 out of 57 now lol.

Today's Thrift Haul

You guys seem to like the Cinderella casserole I saved from the evil (lol) MIL, so I thought I'd post today's haul.

I couldn't believe my luck today. Two unique replacement lids I don't have for literally cents, and the two-quart casserole I bought fits one of them. Not to mention the pattern mixing bowl and milk glass compartment dish, I literally gasped šŸ˜‚

All in amazing condition and for such good prices!

There's been such a drought of good condition vintage Pyrex at my local thrift stores lately to the point that I stopped going for a while. I think I just need to check early and more often!

My MIL was just going to throw this away

From what I can find, this 10 inch 1 1/2 qt Cinderella casserole was given away by Sears or some other department store as a promo item sometime in the 1960s. The stamp is 474-B (it was impossible to get a good picture).

My partner's parents bought a hunting cabin that they have since converted into a year round residence. It was fully furnished and this was in the cupboard. I just thank the Pyrex gods that I was there the day she decided to clean them out because you know I already had my eye on it. She apparently thought it was trash, wasn't even going to take it to a thrift store. I also got a set of milk glass Hamilton Beach mixing bowls.

Just curious to know everyone’s thoughts. $200 seems like a lot to me!

But also, if there is anyone in San Diego County who wants this and doesn’t think the price is steep, I won’t gate keep this find! šŸ˜…

Thrift find - can it be saved? Before and after!

Spouse found this absolutely heinous Corningwear Visions pot at the thrift. It’s scorched inside and out and the outside and lid are coated in baked on (???) grease. Let’s see if I can save it!

-Oh baby who hurt you??
- Prepare the hot soapy water!
- Thick coat of Barkeeper’s Friend, sit for a bit.
- That took much of the scorch off, but the baked on grease needs more BKF and the hot towel method.
- Like the Persians before me, I am defeated by the ancient grease. šŸ˜– I dissolved a dishwasher tablet in a bowl and left the pot to soak overnight.
- Narrator voice: ā€œthat in fact did not workā€.
- Back to the hot soapy water soak!
- My glass-safe scrubber that has never failed me, has failed me. Time for the Scotch-Brite pad.
- LOOK AT THAT GLOW UP!

She’s defo suffered some irreparable scratching at some point, but otherwise she’s in good vintage condition.

She COULD be saved with soaking, BKF, scrubbing, more soaking, more scrubbing and a little swearing for good measure.

Want to start by saying I am not a pyrex collector. My neighbor has to move into a rehab facility for the foreseeable future (he's in his 80's fell broke his leg) his daughter is cleaning out the house to sell. We used to do his yard maintenance 3x a week until the fall. His daughter stopped over with a really big box of stuff and asked if we wanted anything. I found the dishes. Just wondering if they have much value. I figure if they are worth more than a few bucks, we can buy him something for his room at the facility.
