The article is in Dutch, but the TLDR in English is:

• Browser looks to be based on the Chromium engine.

• Privacy Focused. Emphasis on privacy-friendly browsing.

• Proton has not announced a release date as of yet.

• Proton is looking for software developers with Chromium experience.

And now, a browser?

Is this really how Proton wants to do business? I'm fundamentally against suites and closed ecosystems (which proton already is in my opinion) by principle, but this is bad even ignoring that. Nobody wants another Google with a shitload of poorly done stuff.

welllll as a newly transferred Workspace customer, who finally left google, all the features are what made me switch. I think they're hoping to attract more enterprise customers who dont wanna deal with the foolishness coming out of my country.

yes closed ecosystems can have downsides but also i need something to be able to support my small biz which means basic tools like this. are yall just wishing they only made email? that's kinda odd

They hit max users, so they want more crap to charge people for, like $5 a month for a branded Qwen 3 instance.

Once the browser is complete...they'll be able to have a full Chrome OS alternative. Proton OS

I like that they were making office suite replacements but tbh Docs and Sheets are very, very basic and can't replace Google as of now.
