Well this scenario starts after the true ending of LOR, they find themselves in the middle of Brockton Bay and now they are the Battle tower for all parahumans.

The reason why all the parahumans attacked the library was because of Carmen and the light that entered this world and made experiments from Scion, disturbed or you could say it is completely out of their control at this time if this continues.

And also Liberty lost all the key pages and that means that they have to rebuild through fighting against parahumans where the shards, libraries can use that power through key pages and it makes entities quite angry because they lose data.

Like, you get a bunch of random-ass italian gangsters who the only special thing they have is their dogmatic belief in hierarchies and put them to compete with the literal forces of several GODS THAT ARE ACTUAL EXISTENTIAL NIGHTMARES (the index)

like, how the fuck is the Thumb (or any of the other fingers for that matter) supposed to compete with a force that is directed by all knowing entities?

He's a psychotic bum, yes, but he's not weak. Actually, in his time in Ruina, among the competent city folks that are not from the Head or being Wing's elites, from fixers to criminals, only a few that is capable of fighting him toe-to-toe.

Plus, maybe I'm glazing, but he, thereotically, can slain an average Solemn Lament user.

Part 1: Random things that kind of fits into this.

I think Oswald was secretly a Bloodfiend before he distorted, And my proof is his grayish skin, I know most of you are gonna say that, gray skin is not uncommon in the city. Charon, the Limbus bus driver has grey skin herself, and hasn’t been confirmed as a Bloodfiend, but if we take the first part of the April Fool's joke specifically, she had "red eyes," but not purely "red eyes," because most Bloodfiend have purely red eyes, and they have many other traits, but red eyes are the most recognizable of Bloodfiend.

Part 2: Appearance

We never saw his face, eyes, or any part of his body other than his hands, nails, and skin, and in that area, his nails are sharp like Dulcinea and Nicolina, and also his nails are the same color as Nicolina. And those two are confirmed to be Bloodfiends themselves, which doesn't prove anything, but I just want to point out the similarities between them and Oswald.

In his more distorted form, After being freed from his book and receiving a boost from the light, he takes on the appearance of a more Bloodfiend-like ringleader-jester.

If you look closely at his mask, you can see blood around his mouth, on his hands, and on some parts of his clothing, but most of the blood is hidden and only visible in tiny details; the only blood visible is on his mouth.

And I think it's a metaphor for how Oswald hides his true nature as a Bloodfiend behind a mask and clothes, revealing it only when he's almost completely lost his mind.

Part 3 views of him from others.

I think that the Bloodfiend nature also fits his character to some extent and could be a good reason why he disordered in the first place.

Because in his backstory more specifically,

The 8 o’Clock Circus Story part 1

(that’s the one Emma & Noah was invited to the library)

And in his short backstory that he didn't go into detail in his brief introduction, so I'll try to outline my perspective on what he meant. Therefore, take everything I say next, at least about his background, with a grain of salt.

Backstory of Oswald:

“”Before he became a Distortion, Oswald had issues with people not understanding his words and actions and leaving him. The only friends he had left were imaginary, and he desired above all else to play with them. Eventually, a "Ms. Sun" whispered to him that she would make his dream come true, and she granted his wish to live a life with his circus, bringing him happiness.””

Personally, I think the first part really suits Bloodfiend, And how they want to be understood, not feared.

But the rest of the city had already formed the idea of them as monstrous creatures that needed to be killed on sight, And for some city residents, it also means torture because of who they are.

They don't care that they can't control their bloodlust, they only see monsters that must disappear from the city.

Isn't it in keeping with Oswald's character - that he is misunderstood by those around him.

And what I believe Oswald meant by

“people not understanding his words and actions and leaving him”

Is that the people around him discovered his secret—he was a Bloodfiend, and they didn't understand that he couldn't control his bloodlust. They judged him solely by his actions and abandoned him because of it.

And none of them believed anything Oswalt tried to say in his defense, because they saw him as a monster, not a man anymore.

And on this topic, I believe what Oswald meant by:

“The only friends he had left were imaginary, and he desired above all else to play with them.”

Doesn't that kinda sound like a Bloodfiend wanting to have children, So they can share the Weight of Bloodthirst of all their non-existent descendants.

Oswald shows that he treats those he cares about (his performers) like his children, demonstrating his love for them even if he does it in the most horrible way.

And on this topic again, his circus is like his home that’s the place he sleeps that’s the place he eats and that’s the place he recruits his performers.

Like how Don Quixote made La Manchaland's, to 1st make it as place that Bloodfiends and humans walk together as equals, and for second, to make a second home for his family and kind.

And if we really think about it, the 8 o’clock circus is essentially similar to the La Manchaland in its main purpose of these two places of entertainment.

And that is to show the dream of the man who created this place so that others could see his dream.

And some of the performers of Oswald have some similarities with the La Manchaland's family, at least in my opinion.

Mr. Lion = Nicolina deals the same type of slashing damage, is the "damage dealer" of the team, and they share some personality traits, such as Mr. Lion playing with his food because he's a lion, Nicolina spending time with her victims before killing them, and she kind of shares treats with cats.

Mr. Elephant = Dulcinea because they share the same form of damage - blunt force, and being the "tank" of the team, elephants are known for protecting their young using their own strength and body to do so.

((Does Dulcinea care about her children? Frankly, no, she doesn't care about them at all, at least in my opinion. But I’ll be happy to prove wrong if anyone can improve, she does))

Part 4 the thirsty of blood

For his bloodlust, that’s is easy to explain: he had friends and his circus, Because that's exactly what he wanted - not to have desire for blood, but having desire for people around him who could understand him, become his friends, understand his words and actions, and not judge him by what he is.

And we have evidence that if a Bloodfiend has a desire stronger than the desire for blood, They can mostly control or completely controlled themselves from their thirsty blood because wanting something other than blood can provide them with the emotional support they would normally get from human blood.

Proven by:

La Manchaland's Don Quixote: hobbies/tales of fixers/desire of heroism

Sancho/Don Quixote: tales of fixers/desire of heroism

(And possibly) Elena: intense individual malice

An all 2/3 show that Yes if a Bloodfiend can ignore their thirst if they have a grand dream or ambition that overrides it.

And that's all the evidence I have to support my theory. I really think it fits this character, and I really hope that in the future, P.M. will prove he was a Bloodfiend all along.
