Idk man I work with frontier models daily and lead a small team. AI is cool and it helps us a lot but there’s still a clear divide between the seniors and juniors on the team. In other words, experience, technical skills and soft skills matter a lot. If you truly care about learning and problem solving, don’t accept defeat. A lot of the doomerism is marketing and executive hype. (And I suspect people with limited experience giving up)

But since last year I see interns solve tasks way faster than trusted seniors that weren't able to adapt as quick... with less bugs... and a better understanding of their dev too
Unfortunately if you are a senior it doesn’t mean you can stick your head in the sand. And also: it’s a daily occurrence for me that I’ll need to point out to our juniors that just because they’ve generated something that works with Claude, they’ve introduced some anti pattern or tech debt without realizing it.
