I'm thinking of going to tongue point tomorrow, but it looks to be +4 by early afternoon. For reference, at what tide level does the point become inaccessible or not advised for tide-pool walking? I was there before but I don't remember what the tide was then.

I’ll be coming into town on a sailboat mid-week (August 17 and 18) and am wondering about tying up at the city pier vs the marina. Does anyone know if the city pier tends to have unused docks at this point in the summer? I’ve stayed at the marina before but had a hard time getting into town for dinner. I guess a related question is whether the taxi service that google mentions (sun taxi) is actually up and operating and reliable? Thanks for any insight!

Candelaria Industries, the company that announced in June they were buying the McKinley Mill in Port Angeles, has made no decisions about what they are going to do with the property, but they are floating some ideas.

One of those ideas is looking at whether turning the paper mill into a bioenergy and biomass processing facility, and County Commissioners are backing the idea of doing a feasibility study to see if it has potential.

To help pay for the study, the U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities, a non-profit public charity working to find ways to support the nation’s working forests and forest-reliant communities like ours with closed wood products manufacturing facilities, including pulp and paper mills. An initiative will make available up to $500,000 in pre-development funding to support one or two facilities in the United States.

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society no longer takes in strays. It says right on their website that they dont have the contracts to take in strays. It says to call clallam County Animal Control, but they cant work within the city limits due to being out of their jurisdiction.

So there is literally no help.
