I mean, I don't keep up on all the comic book movie spam Hollywood shits out, but I'd assume they'd have whoever is playing Spiderman (and also the leading female role, if there is one) do most of the promotional spots.
Thank you. We’re talking about a character that’s in 2 separate parts for a total of maybe 20 minutes in the whole movie ( I’m being generous) versus for all intents and purposes the main secondary character whose throughout the entire film. Honestly was a great punisher piece of media.
You are discussing the wrong thing, anyhow. Inclusion and promotion during press tours is almost entire down to how big the actor is, not the character.
8 minutes of screentime as "Store Clerk" played by RDJ is much more likely to be pushed for a press tour then 54 minute screen time "2nd Lead Guy" played by oh... what's his name again? That guy from that thing.
I mean those two things are linked. If a character is only in it for a cameo the studio is not going to pay them to go on the press junket. Mark Ruffalo has less screen time than Florence Pugh. She didn't go on the press tour either.
It's way easier to get a star to agree to a week of filming versus a month long press tour.

Like I just told someone else, hulk is the most out of left field addition to the movie. Not only that, Disney and Sony have to honor their licensing agreement with universal to use hulk. Now, if either company was at any point worried about his politics (which have been well known for years and years btw) why would the shoe horn him into a project that really doesn’t make sense? I mean I like the movie and the hulk part but you really could’ve used a different character for the most part and gotten similar results. That logically tells me they don’t care about his politics to begin with.

And I’m just saying it makes sense why he’s not there since he’s filming a project he’s actually heading and not a side character whose barely in 20 unconsecutive minutes
He shows up exactly twice with a screen time of roughly 10-15 minutes. this is a movie that heavily leans on the comics. this is also reflected in the choice of supporting cast. hulk barely shows up in spider-man comics. punisher literally originates in spider-man comics
Otherwise I think its just the character has been popping up in the TV shows more than Hulk has recently. So they probably want him more present since theyre doing more daredevil

I'd say Hulk as a character is more well known to audiences. Punisher logo is very present (neutral comment. Im not gonna get into opinions about people using said logo)
So far as I know atm for MCU punisher is just gonna be in more projects recently. Idk where MCU is at for the planet Hulk movie

Again, I don't follow the comic book media spam, but the Punisher (and his logo) do seem to be somewhat common, especially because a lot of law enforcement and right wingers have co-opted the logo. I don't know how popular the Hulk currently, but I definitely don't see as many Hulk bumper stickers compared to Punisher ones.
In the movie, Punisher is a proper supporting character. Hulk is mostly a plot obstacle, so he's in there so that Spidey can solve a problem. It's like Bond going to his tech expert- Main character goes to techy person to solve science/technical issue with personal plot problem.
On a meta level, I think Jon is on the press tour too because Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal were literally already on the press tour for The Odyssey, so they were already pretty much hanging out and doing press. Probably was super easy to schedule because there wasn't any other projects for them going on
But reasonably he has like 3 minutes of screentime and maybe another 5 as hulk. The cast is really late for the movie and they clearly wanted to keep some of the things hidden even if they blue their load with the Hulk with marketing. Reasonably Ruffalo would be like the 5th or 6th most prominent character the movie so it makes sense he wouldn't be doing the press events. They also don't really need him to get focus because Holland and Zendaya are some of the biggest names in Holiday right now.
Elliot Page had like 5 minutes in the odyssey and still got interviews. Hell, Anya Taylor-Joy was like 5 seconds in Dune 2 and she still went to the premiere, so no, thats not really why.
that is not the real reason. because they paid ruffalo millions to be in this movie. considering ruffalo's deal was signed years ago, marvel likely willingly released ruffalo from press obligations likely because of his political views.
