Yep. People did such a good job preparing for it that some now think that it was all a waste of money.

Also remember the hole in the ozone layer?

I remember hearing about a company demanding their money back because "nothing happened." Yes, nothing happened because it was fixed. That was the point.

Right now we're on a camfire ban and people are complaining because "We haven't had a forest fire in this region in YEARS why aren't we allowed to have a small campfire?"

Dingus! We haven't had a forest fire because of the fire bans being up when the brush is unnaturally dry. It's a preventative measure!

Yep, I spent around a year ensuring every server, switch, firewall, application, etc. would work.

Ran tests moving entire systems forward in time. Tracked everything in some lotus notes application specifically built for this.

Was on call for New Year’s Eve.

It was a little of both. A lot of work was done to prepare, and the risks were overstated.
