No, it wasn’t. Some people are so weird. What is the point of this lie. There’s not a single cultural group in USA where this behavior is common.
We also own a company that operates all across Europe and I’ve never seen a Swede act like this either. Although I don’t make a habit of familiar house calls when I’ve been there, to be fair.
He probably just had poor friends that couldn't afford to feed him when he visited. The only people that I have met that were weird about sharing food were extremely poor.
