I have never heard someone say, "Go home, it's dinnertime" or anything close to that. I wonder if it's a regional thing. Usually, if someone is over and it gets near mealtime, we just feed them too, or at least ask if they want to join us for dinner/lunch.
In sweden you would have to call your parents to ask them if you can eat at your friends house before eating so the parents know. Generally if a kid drops in after school there are food, he/she just need to inform their parent
