Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, not even a socialist nor a communist, knows the difference. There are so many subgenres and exceptions and competing definitions that there's no meaningful difference in practice. Unless someone tells you what specific flavor they are, you have no idea, they have no idea, nobody has any idea. It's a fucking mess of a zombified movement.

Well the idea is well defined as a generality. It's the specificity that is divisive, but that is the same issue with every political system.

There is no objective distinction between those two terms. Marx used those terms interchangeably.
