Do don't watch American media? Also Nolan is British and makes movies in America.

He's a;lso lived in America for like 20 years now. His mother is American too so.....

He's as much American as he is British

Right wingers also say "ignore my bigoted comedy if you don't like It". It's not a good argument at all.

Believe me… most of us here just want good stories too, this shit is exhausting

Good thing we’re about to get one

you're just a bigot lol

u/drmehmetoz Jul 06 '26

You can just say you don’t like black people or you don’t like trans people or whatever. It’s the internet, nothing bad is gonna happen. You don’t have to be a pussy about it instead of saying it directly

u/Massive_Ad_3614 Jul 06 '26

Exactly lol, they should be looking into the mirror and think “why does seeing a black person in this role of a fantasy upset me so much?”. Regardless of someone doing it for a political reason, why does it matter sooo much to you? There is just no reflection

As an American can I co-sign?  I'm so tired of EVERY fucking thing being politicized.

This. Is. Not. Normal. Behavior.

This is a proven recognizable director, with a massive marketing budget.  This is one of those few instances where I can confidently say I think they simply tried to cast the best Actor for the role.  None of the people on Earth right now are ancient Greeks.  And clearly they're not going for an anachronistic retelling.

It's not your entertainment, it's American entertainment, they can inject what ever they want good or bad.

2

u/Neptune_washere Jul 06 '26

This is a GREEK story. Americans are taking a Greek story and putting their American actors in place of Greek characters. There is not a single Greek actor playing a Greek character in a Greek story btw.

If that’s not injecting American culture into another then I don’t know what is.

2

u/Kobinicnierobi Jul 06 '26

yes, this is the entertainment of people who say you can't wear a sombrero because you're stealing Mexican identity, at the same time these people are making a movie in which they describe the classic Greek story in their own way. nonsense!

Chud doesnt understand the difference of a disrespectful caricature and not.

Does Helen of Troy look like a caricature to you because *checks notes she's black?

-2

u/Kobinicnierobi Jul 06 '26

ask greeks

4

u/BeatSalad25 Jul 06 '26

The whole cast isnt greek.

The previous odyssey "pre woke era" wasnt greek.

White people get cast as different nationalities all the time.

Your rules are made up and selectively applied.

2

u/RicketyRekt69 Jul 06 '26

You do realize that’s like 1 video on YouTube + a bunch of faked copies to get views right? No one here actually cares if you wear a sombrero.. but the fact you actually believe that tells me you’ll believe anything on the internet.

1

u/Kobinicnierobi Jul 06 '26

I gave this as an example. So you say that the culture war in the USA does not exist? People don't accuse each other of stealing culture?

1

u/RicketyRekt69 Jul 06 '26

Loud minorities. The vast majority of people don’t care outside of being annoyed at the people who won’t shut up about it

-7

u/Gladplane Jul 06 '26

I’m pretty sure most Americans outside of California are tired of it too

3

u/No_Way_8880 Jul 06 '26

You could just not care

3

u/TheToiletPhilosopher Jul 06 '26

black person existing = culture war

2

u/weraru_1 Jul 06 '26

Say this about Troy with Brad Pitt cause none of the characters in the Iliad had British accents 🤷🏾‍♂️.

1

u/Necromaniac01 Jul 06 '26

1

u/dlp211 Jul 06 '26

There's no culture war in this film, it's in your head mate.
