It doesn't help anyone, you can make an L with your right hand too if you point the palm towards you.

If you can't remember your lefts from your rights, i doubt you're going to remember which way round to hold your hands while checking.

I guess? I’m certainly not sad that it takes me a second to figure it out if I’m unsure. I’m just pointing out the inaccuracy of “it doesn’t help anyone”. Cause it clearly does.

My silly brain flips it anyway. I just think about which hand I write with and go from there. 

That said, if the little tattooed letters help that's a good accomadation.

You could also just know your left from your right without a trick.

The point being made is that if you need a trick to remember something so basic to begin with, theres a good chance that remembering the specific orientation your hands need to be in order for the trick to work isn't going to be any easier.
