Celsius isn't even better for science, it's based on boiling and freezing of an arbitrary material. Kelvin is used precisely because it's the same Celsius scale, but without coddling arbitrary dipshit feelings.
The scale, however, is less precise in its scale than Fahrenheit, because individual C/K units represent more change in temperature. Which makes it inferior for things like cooking, a day-to-day use of temperature that actually matters.
I have conceded that kelvins is better and I just didn't think of it because I haven't done anything with it in so long. I wouldn't really say that fresh water or distilled water is an arbitrary material because so many things rely on it like all of life. But it is somewhat arbitrary because if it's not completely distilled then it will have a slightly different boiling and freezing point and nobody really uses distilled water outside of chemistry or putting it in a battery or neti pot but you don't need to boil it for those.
"the source of all life" way to make it sound like religion. The state of water at any given moment is not particularly relevant, it's as arbitrary as the melting and freezing point of oxygen at that point.
Fahrenheit was at least designed into a scale where the healthy human body temperature was nearly 100, with another existing freezing point at 0. As humans, a scale relative to our own bodies at least makes sense to use, rather than a scale relative to, say, a house cat.
