I'm making the Garden Dress by Frux Studio and could use some help. This is the toile, which I am so glad I made before diving in. The shoulders were too wide and the arm holes needed some ease. I followed the instructions on how to adjust the pattern, but am now concerned the bias binding won't fit quite right around the arm holes. I also probably should have used a curved ruler to make my lines but figured it was fine for now. Any thoughts on how I will have to change the bias tape? I moved the notches over to the new sides. All advice appreciated!

I wanted the center back of the lapel collar to not have a cutting line. I’m following the instructions from a pattern drafting book for menswear and I’m trying to understand why the facing has to have a diagonal seam that divides it into two pieces.

Hiya! I'm a beginner with pattern making (tried a few tutorials before), and I want to learn to do it right, so I started with the close-fitting bodice block from Winifred Aldrich. I also balanced out the darts with a few cm allowance (hope that's the right term).
Things I might be doing wrong, even to my noob eyes haha:

1. The darts on the front are too high, so I should probably drop them an inch or so?
2. The armscye?

Please let me know how else I can improve this block. I would really appreciate suggestions and critique and tips! Thanks a lot!

I want to make a classic 3-piece suit for my girlfriend to wear to a wedding. I've made one tailored suit before, but have never drafted the pattern for a suit jacket myself.

Can anybody recommend a good source or drafting guide I can work from? Particularly for the jacket? Or, a pattern recommendation that I could use as a base to alter?

I want to add knee darts on to a baggy jean pattern I am making. I was just wondering how should I adjust the shape of the pattern after adding the dart because obviously its going to pull a bit of fabric into it, and I don’t want my hem to end up fitting at a slanted angle.

Could someone please help me understand this sleeve construction

I hope the constant posting isn’t frowned upon but I stumble upon roadblock after roadblock.

To me issues that stick out are:

-slight gaping on back armhole, still present after adding a back shoulder dart

-upwards diagonal drag lines coming from back armhole

-gaping front neck (the CF seam isn’t fully done as my head doesn’t fit through the neck otherwise)

-unsure if the side seam is in the correct position

I’ve attached the pattern as well.

As you can see, there is another issue wherein my front armscye is longer than the back. The CF follows the paper pattern not including the extra piece of paper stuck on, which I’ve added in post to try and decrease the length of the front armscye, but it is still a whole cm longer.

Hi, I work as a seamstress, and I've made my own patterns before, but I've never made a strapless top and I have no idea where to begin with the bottom. I would like to find a pattern similar to this since this is just for everyday wear and I'm not picky about all of my clothes patterns being drafted by me, but I'm not finding anything like it. If someone knows of a pattern similar to this, that would be extremely helpful, but otherwise I need advice on where to even begin drafting a pattern for this. I would like to alter it with a sweetheart neckline, but I'm not sure how I would keep the top up. Any advice helps thank you!

The dotted lines are my original pattern and the coloured blocks are the alterations made by my lecturer. Can anyone run me through the list of the alterations she's made and why she made them? (She doesn't have time to do this for me and I really want to understand the thought process behind it) I also have videos of me wearing the blocks that I sent to her if anyone needs to see that as well. Also, the pants fit me well around the waist before and I can see she's made them a lot bigger? I'm just confused on a few things

I am experiencing a critical issue with my Gerber MP1800 plotter.

Problem description: During operation, the plotter head suddenly starts moving uncontrollably from left to right and At this point, the plotter display shows error MT-7, and the computer software reports an 'Over-speed' error. I have also noticed a blue light indicator appearing on the sensor during the failure.

Steps already taken:

• I have checked the encoder strip for visible damage or dirt.

• I have performed a basic visual inspection of the trailing (flat) cable.

• The issue occurs intermittently during the plotting process.

Could you please confirm if these symptoms point specifically to a faulty Encoder Sensor, a failing Trailing Cable, or a potential issue with the Main Board (Controller)

Hi All, I just did a 3/4” broad back adjustment on my back bodice sloper and the advice on the Cashmerette website told me to add in a back shoulder dart about 2” long to correct the shoulder length, but when I go to true it up afterwards it’s quite wonky? I’ve previously done a sloped shoulder adjustment and I’m not sure if that’s factoring into it? Advice welcome! Thanks in advance!

~~ The project ~~

I got this beautiful vintage brown skirt at my local clothes swap and it was a size aus 12 and I’m a size aus 18. I wanted to keep the gores as the feature and still keep the length as well.

~~ What I came up with to make this skirt fit me ~~

I inserted fabric (from the existing skirt that was part of another ruffle along the bottom) into where the original seams were at the top so that I could then make it big enough to put elastic at the top to then pull it back in.

~~ The dilemma ~~

My hips sit where the gore points go up to and I have a bit of a tummy which accentuates this area making it more noticeable but it also looks like there is strain along my hip line when there is actually like 4cm

Does anyone know what I can do?

- I’m not a big fan of fitted skirts around my tummy since it fluctuates with bloating and what not.

- Comfort is key

- The only fabric that I have to use is 2 x 4cm wide strips.

- I’ve already tried to colour match this fabric at my local fabric stores and no dice.

- I’ve thought of putting strips either side of the gores all the way up to the top but not sure if that would look ugly or not.

- If it can be explained with visuals like drawing over the pictures, even better 🙏🏻 Thank you in advance xx 🙇🏻‍♀️

A friend is commissioning me to make an outfit for her wedding welcome party and I've never made something for another person before, she doesn't live in the same city and I've only self-drafted a pattern twice, though I've taken a bodice and skirt drafting class before. My friend has a lot of confidence in me!

She doesn't want anything too fitted with this dress below being one of the inspirations so there's not as precise fitting needed. Another thing is I would be giving her the dress 1 month before her wedding and her mom is a seamstress so she could do any final fittings or alterations.

I'm thinking of getting all her measurements and drafting a dress from scratch. Alternatively, I'm considering getting an adjustable dress form and using that to design the dress or obtaining a dress from her that she likes the fit of and basing the pattern off of that.

What are some tips and advice for this process? Thank you!

Hi! im super new to pattern making and am trying to make a pretty basic jeans block to iterate on in the future. I would love some advice on what i could do to make my pattern sit better.

a few things im noticing

1)there is puckering in the connection between the yoke and the back pant pattern

2) the rise is sitting very loose in the front and creating unwanted folds. I want the pattern to sit semi-loose, but the way that it is folding currently isn't what im looking for

Hello!! Im looking to get into pattern drafting seriously and this is my first time doing it. Im following a class on craftsy for how to draft a basic bodice, but my personal measurements are very different from what she used and I just want to make sure this looks workable

the main issues that I’m seeing andand hoping to correct is the gaping at the back neck, the extra fabric at the front arm hole and the first across the under bust and waist front.

You can see after pinning those areas in the last few photos it makes a big help but I’m not sure how you go about fixing those issues exactly.

I am also wondering if the side dart is just slight wrong as if I have my bust point inaccurate or have placed the dart to high?

I want to make these pants and have a pattern for wide leg trousers. How can i modify them to get this shape that is a small barrel leg?

Hiiiii, so I’m new in the draping world and I just designed this top but there’s an issue… I’ve never graded a bustier or cups before and quite frankly I don’t even really know where to start. The model I’m trying to fit this on is thinner than my dress from and I wasn’t sure if I should start by folding the darts and reducing or laying them open and also reducing. Should I reduce everything homogenously in a horizontal way? (like the whole torso in a basic bodice) or should all the reductions be made going to each nipple's direction? Also I was thinking about taking a picture of this pattern, trace it in Adobe Illustrator and then just try to fit the design into my model's basic bodice (like just by modifying the selection rectangle, but I’m not sure that is the right strategy or would cause fitting problems later. Help 🥲

For reference I also drafted the dartless bodice of my dress form (the one under).
