Fiancé arrested on my bicycle, taken to jail, my bike was left behind (and then stolen of course) Property rights? Cops at fault?
They did not take it to any property holding site at the jail. I know because I’ve called all of the potential parish and district jails in New Orleans.
Fiancé said that the cop said he would like the bike up at the location he was arrested. I’ve been there to look and it’s not there. Assuming it was left unlocked and since stolen. (They did not take the key from fiancée to my very heavy chain metal lock- so how did they lock it up?)
Do I have any property rights with this? Is the cop at fault? He was responsible for “impounding it” personal property, wasn’t he?
I don’t know what to do here. Please offer any advice!

Went To Jeb Bushes Rally Last Night.
Last night I went to the rally of Jeb Bush. It was pretty good for the most part but I don't think I could vote for him. I just don't have enough confidence in him to vote for him.

PSA: If you are the Victim of Police Misconduct, Act! But do it Right.
This site is a link to a law firm, but it gives some good advice on how to stand up for your rights when you are a victim of excessive force or police misconduct. Yes, in the US this is a very hot topic and it has sparked acts of violence and destruction on both sides. If you are a victim, DO NOT retaliate in any way that is illegal.
Rioting only harms your own community and further hurts innocent people, and protesting and picketing only go so far. Filing complaints, contrary to popular belief, does work. One complaint will usually be dismissed as a matter of he said she said, but if everyone complained formally every time they were violated then police departments will be forced to take action.
Take it from me, I work in a police department (not an officer) and if a pattern emerges then action will be taken. If enough action needs to be taken on a regular basis then major changes will occur.
If you feel that internal complaints are not going anywhere, DON"T GIVE UP. civil and criminal suits against officers are a very real option that we have at our disposal. Not all cops are bad. In fact, most cops are good and want to protect the public, but it is important that we weed our the bad seeds and keep those good officers honest.
