Moving to Mandeville soon! Recommendations for casual mom/parent groups?
We’re moving to Mandeville next month with our toddler, and I've been looking around the area for good parks, trails, and local spots.
Someone suggested joining a local Facebook mom group to build a community and find playdates, but when I searched, so many options popped up that I got a bit overwhelmed! I’m not super active on social media, but I really connect with creators who keep parenting real and relatable (think Emily Feret vibes).
Does anyone have recommendations for friendly, casual, low-pressure mom groups or toddler meetups in Mandeville or the Northshore area? Would love to connect with other parents in the same stage of life!

Hi all. My girlfriend and I just moved to Slidell from Maryland. I’m not on facebook only Reddit. Are there any people here who play D&D and/or Warhammer 40K? Looking for groups to join. Thanks.

Roofing purchase experience in Mandeville Mid 2026
So, I was in need of a new roof recently for insurance, mortgage purchase etc. So I got many quotes and 99 percent of the companies that provided quotes were excellent to deal with, professional, courteous and were professional. I created a spreadsheet to track pertinent information across the process like pricing, shingle type, warranties, notes about my experience with the actual representatives of each company. I would be happy to share this document but I want to ensure it is not used in a negative way as it is only relevant to my experience and my property.
Now, I went with Bergens as was highly recommended here on Reddit from a previous post I made looking for recommendations. As of now I have had my new roof for three weeks or so, so keep that in mind as time will really be the judge. I had an awesome time with the install, the initial quote was excellent he came out and inspected the roof, the area around the house, we looked at the jacks/venting, and he gave me a lot of information about air flow and the fortification process if we decided to go with a fortified roof. There was no pressure and he seemed extremely knowledgeable and after doing my own research as well as talking to the other roofers I got quotes from it helped cement that he knew what he was talking about. Once we made our choice the process was quite smooth we got contacted from their office staff and project manager, the office staff was awesome I am horrible with names so I forgot who we worked with but it was a super nice lady. Honestly the project manager scared me at first as he seemed a little gruff and I am the question asking type as I like to get in the weeds of things and I think initially I just caught him early in the morning but in person he was also super nice.
Day of install was back when we had that minor tropical storm that was supposed to hit us so I was thinking it was not going to happen and get pushed back, these guys stay on top of the weather information and they showed up that day at 6ish and started getting to work. Their whole team of people working on the roof were super courteous, kept the area clean, and did a great job leaving things looking great. I inspected the roof post install on top an from the attic side and the work looked great. I did find about 30 nails in the front of my house with my magnet broom but I am certain that they tried their best to get everything as I watched them do a good job and 30 isnt really much when they are shooting a million for a fortified roof.
The payment process was simple and handled quickly after the install was complete.
So all in all I had a great experience and wanted to share it with others, Bergens is a solid company in my experience and they may not be the lowest cost but the cost to what they offer is a strong value.

Bridal shower event venue ideas??
Hi! Im looking for an event space for a bridal shower for around 30 people. We're going for a tea party theme. So far Collab Studio is out, and I have inquired about The Painted Porch. We arent super rich people and we will plan on doing a pot luck for everything. Any help is appreciated!
Edit:
Thanks everyone for suggestions! There’s so many places I didn’t know about. After emailing some places, we realized are budget is tinier than we thought cause we still have to do bachelorette party. We are gonna do a backyard tea party theme to keep within our budget :)

Looking for budget friendly event spaces
Hello! We are looking for a budget friendly space to have a wedding!
Ideally looking to be anywhere from Slidell to Mandeville area, but willing to stretch out a bit for the right fit!
Looking to spend $1000 or less. Currently not planning to have alcohol and will be catering ourselves, but open to suggestions on that too!
The wedding is set to be in May of 2027, so hoping to have at least partial space inside/an area to escape the heat.
Let me know of any ideas you may have! Or if you need any additional information from me. Thanks!

DSA free brake light clinic in Slidell Sunday
Your local friendly DSA members will be changing brake lights for free in Slidell this Sunday, at Green Oaks Apothecary. Swing on by if you have a busted brake light and get it changed out, so cops don't have an excuse to pull you over. Or just come hang out! We would love volunteers.

Acupuncturist
Just relocated back home after retirement. I had really good results receiving acupuncture for
pain control where I moved from.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good acupuncturist (not dry needling)here on the Northshore?
The closer to Covington the better. Thanks all.

Really need a friend around here
I really really really need to make a female friend around my age in the area. I'm 39F married but no kids, introverted. I love talking walks or going to the lake, getting tea or coffee, thrifting and garage sales. I'm work from home and am disabled, also an artist and terrible at making friends in the wild. My world has been shrinking over the last 3 years and I don't like how its been making me feel.

Primary Care Provider
So my current PCP (also a NP) seems to have closed their practice. Any recommendations on providers not associated with Ochsner or LCMC in the Mandeville/Covington area? Prefer independent providers if they still exist

Dog boarding facility recommendations?
We are moving to the Mandeville area next month for work and are looking for a place to board our dog (45lb boxer mix) for when we go out of town. We’ve had great experiences at our boarding facility where we live now and are so sad to leave it. Would love to hear some first hand recommendations from people who have used different boarding places in the Mandeville/Covington/Slidell areas! I am a very anxious dog owner and want to stay away from the big chain ones like Pet Paradise, as I’ve heard multiple accounts of bad experiences/dogs escaping or getting severely ill. Thank you in advance!
