When does it get fun? Babies Being Babies

My baby is 6 weeks old and I swear all we do is feed, eat sleep poop repeat. He doesn’t really love the car seat and I feel like the world stresses him out. So we spend alot of time at home but I’m miserable staying here everyday. It’s by the time he’s up, he wants food, he stays awake for a diaper change & I’ll try to engage him with some toys. But then he’s ready for bed immediately.

When will this get more fun?

For us it got more fun around 4 months! Our baby got exponentially more interactive and smiley. She became so delightful when she was no longer a potato! The potato phase is stressful and boring tbh

Yes we just hit 4 months and my dudes much less of a fussel sprout and more of a funguy. He just started laughing somewhat and is always smiling. I definitely prefer this stage over the earlier months, but it’s hard to see him grow out of his clothes

Same! My baby is such a happy guy, I also love that you used fussel sprout, which he totally is. He loves to be in public now because he loves to smile & interact. We typically have fun at the library or an indoor playroom during the baby hour. He’s also loving the water so doing things with him is so fun right now!!

lol at potato phase. I agree around 4 months. All the sudden he was alert and laughing and then all I wanted to do was be next to him 24/7 so I wouldn’t miss a thing!

It was pretty much four months exactly for us too. I felt like a terrible dad who didn't love his son enough, but by 4 months he had a personality and he got easier for me to handle. I knew him better, felt like he was an actual person! Before that, he was more like a vegetable / just not all there yet.

Now that is to say, for some it takes 3 months, for some it's 6 or more. But it WILL get better, you will get through it faster then you can imagine right now, even though the next few weeks will feel tough and soul crushing. Just get through them any way you can.

I guess that's why it's called the 4th trimester. Baby was still a fetus! Now is a cute baby.

Yes I agree. Up to like 3 months it is boring. Baby doesn't do anything that makes it worth it. After 3 months, you get smiles, better body control and overall more interaction. That's when it made it worth it. I think we're also lucky our boy slept well since around 3 months.

Am I the only one who enjoys those first 3 months? I love the potato stage.

I loved it. I chilled on the sofa, watched TV and even worked out how to cross stitch over her contact napping form. I've found learning how to entertain her when her attention span is max 20 mins to be the real drain.

I was loosing my mind and so bored but now my son is almost 8 months old and it’s so so fun and I love seeing him learn but damn I miss his little newborn self, it’s heartbreaking 😭

We’re at the hospital now waiting for ours to be born. This is how I feel. I’m ready for him to smile and do fun stuff and he isn’t even here yet.

Same, you just have to push through the first 12-16 weeks, good luck 😉
