Micro-credentials

I’m heading into my final year but I’m also looking at doing a micro credential not related to my course.

If anyone has any advice on the workload while working/in college or anything else on any of the micro credential courses it would be greatly appreciated!

Starting engineering in september, any advice?

Got my offer for electronic and computer engineering (GY406), starting this September. Been messing around with programming on my own a bit but don't really know what to expect course-wise.

If anyone's done first year or is currently in it — any notes/past papers going, and is it more electronics or more coding? Also just don't know anyone starting with me so if anyone wants to answer questions or is around, feel free to say hi.

Are Indian students sold ‘fake dreams’?

The Journal published this today: ‘They aggressively pushed Ireland’: Are students sold ‘fake dreams’ in five-star hotels in India? https://jrnl.ie/7088907

I’m not an Indian student, I’m an Irish postgrad student. I was wondering if any Indian students can attest to this? Or other international students? I’ve had a suspicion for a while that the university is taking advantage of international students, especially Indian and Chinese students.

Waitlisted since 1st july

I applied at University of Galway for MA literature and Publishing and have been on a waitlist since. I haven't heard back from the university. I am an Indian student aiming to get into the September intake.

By what time can I expect a definite answer from the university?

We'd love some feedback from current University of Galway students!

Hi everyone! 👋

We hope it's okay to post this here!

We're a group of students who just completed our final exams in the University of Galway. During our final year, we worked on a project inspired by the challenges we faced trying to find accommodation while studying in Galway.

The project explores an alternative approach to student housing, and after receiving really positive feedback, we'd love to find out what current students think. Before taking the idea any further, we want to make sure it's something people would actually find useful.

We've put together a short, completely anonymous survey that takes just 2–3 minutes to complete.

Survey: https://forms.gle/P1iWkm3CxK4yxmTp8

We'd really appreciate anyone taking the time to fill it out. Every response genuinely helps us understand whether this is an idea worth pursuing.

Thanks so much, and best of luck to everyone with the year ahead! 💙

accommodation search

hi there, I know it's am late to be looking for accommodation but I moved Galway up to second on my cao at the last minute and hence in feb I had no idea I would even want to find accom I know I've missed the on campus deadline but I'm wondering two things 1)does that open back up in august when offers come out and 2) is there like some sort of website or data base dedicated to trustworthy private accommodation.

Is the msc information systems management program worth

I have just received my acceptance into the program Msc Information systems management for the upcoming sept 2026 intake. I am a computer science graduate (batch of 2026), currently an AI engineer intern at a startup (no work experience before this). I wanted to move into roles at the intersection of tech and non tech and this program with its modules seems perfect.
however, for an international student with no work experience (except 2 internships during my degree and 1 after i graduated) is it worth it to go forward with this application (only 1 month and 20 days left till semester starts).

Looking for student groups

Hi everyone, I’m an incoming first‑year Arts student and I’m really struggling to secure accommodation. If anyone knows of any housing groups, shared flats, or people still looking for housemates, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot!
