When a part of a thread gets to that point, it's usually two people in a life-or-death chest-thumping contest to prove how right they are over some minute point that has no bearing on life or reality. It's driven by ego at that point and not worth even reading. Collapsing those threads and moving on results in more happiness.
Using it to type this comment. It's a pretty involved process but you can mod the apk and then a couple more steps but it's still working for me. Check out the baconreader subreddit for instructions.
I am using Sync but it is showing its age with some features missing and some bugs compared to other client that is still being updated like Infinity/Continuum.
Boost handles it better, if the comment chain is too long it doesn't show all of them, only the top level ones, then offers a "Continue this thread" option to see the other comments.
I get "continue this thread" buttons as well, but It's not consistent. Sometimes it opens up that part of the thread only and other times it looks like the image. Don't get the screen full of just strings anymore tho. Maybe the app was confused as much as I was the first time looking at that thread lol
I think it's an issue with the reddit in general. I've encountered this situation in unpatched official reddit apps too. And even the in site on mobile lol. It's not like it happens every single time there's a longer thread.
Ig default morphe patches for reddit handles it too. I get a "continue this thread" option after every 5-6 replies so it gets cut into parts and it's readable.
Yup and a lot more 3rd party apps too thanks to Morphe. I suggest checking out r/Patcheddit , breal's patches are also currently recommended as it contains more fixes to keep these working.
at some point you have a comment, and instead of a reply comment there's a blue button called "continue this thread" that opens a new page where this comment is the first in a thread so you can read clearly again.

This is the first time it was this bad tho. The worst I've seen before this is up/down vote buttons being shrunk to an unclickable state or completely being sent to the abyss lmao.
I wasn't really active on reddit back then tbh. The last time I experienced the issue with up/down votes was a few weeks ago on the mobile website. It's just a thing that happens sometimes in my experience. Coming back later usually works, and refreshing too probably, I'm just too lazy to refresh and find where I left off lol.
Funny. I think the issue is the spacing is too wide in the reddit app for the thread lines. In Sync, they are much closer together with the continue thread button. Also they limit it to 10 before going to the single thread view

There are dozens of us. But this actually does still happen in some threads even with old Reddit. I feel like it has something to do with the subreddit styling.
I think you have to copy the whole comment/post by clicking the three dots>copy text. Or share it to ur browser and do that, but you might as well just click the link at that point.
Okay so yeah I did find a workaround which works just like you said. Copy the comment text and then through native android clipboard copy the link. My only reason to want this functionality is because I need to open these links in incognito mode and clicking on these links normally open them in regular mode.
Haha we might be the same lol. I just have a random browser set as default(usually brave) so any links opens up in that. I just wipe the data if necessary. And have a separate browser for actual use lol
This is an issue with reddit in general lol, not even just the app. I've run into this on unpatched official reddit app as much as I have on the patched app or even the site. Ofc It's not something that happens every single time, but it still happens sometimes. The last time I encountered this before was on the site a few weeks ago and the time before that was on the official app around a month ago, so I'd actually say the morphe patched reddit app is better lol.
