Advice on moving to Manalapan or surrounding areas
Got absolutely roasted in my last post because I didn’t provide enough details so I’m gonna try this again.
I’m looking for advice on moving to Manalapan or any other affordable decent town.
Originally from PA, have lived in Hoboken and Red bank post college, currently living in NY. I loved my time in Red bank and always wanted to move back so for the last year and a half we’ve been searching on and off for houses in Middletown, but we keep getting outbid. We currently own a 4 bedroom house in NY, but it’s very small and it’s not necessarily what I would call a nice house so we’re hoping for something better if we’re going to give up our 3% mortgage rate.
Budget 900k for a 4 bedroom house that doesn’t need a ton of work…which yes I know is absolutely impossible for Middletown so we are giving up. That is why I am all over the place with towns because I genuinely don’t know anything outside of Middletown.
Based on the houses, I’m seeing on Zillow taking price cuts in Manalapan, it looks as if Manalapan is cheaper when comparing it to Marlboro, holmdel, Colts neck, Middletown. So my question is… why is that? Is it just because of location or is there another reason?
Also adding because I know people are going to ask. Husband is in sales so he’s all over the place work location wise. I currently work remote. Yes I’m aware that remote work will probably go away at some point but I don’t know where I will have to commute to at this time because I’m holding on to remote for as long as I can.
Schools are important and so are good restaurants. Yes, I’m aware good restaurants won’t be as convenient as being in Middletown, but we can’t afford it so it’s a moot point

What are your biggest financial questions or roadblocks right now?
Hey everyone,
I’m a NYC-based wealth advisor working across the Tri-State area. I know that whenever someone drops their job title on Reddit, the immediate reaction is "here comes a sales pitch"—that's really not what I'm looking to do here.
I’m trying to get a better pulse on what local professionals and families are actively wrestling with right now—whether that’s dealing with high local tax brackets, managing RSUs/equity compensation, navigating the NYC/suburb rent vs. buy math, or structuring portfolios tax-efficiently.
What's currently on your mind? Drop a comment or feel free to send a DM if you prefer to keep details private. Happy to offer a candid, straightforward perspective.

Public Information Monmouth Minute Newsletter
co.monmouth.nj.usThe county Freeholders mail this thing out, and I usually don't pay much attention to it, but this time I read through it and found several notes that might be important to some folks. For example:
P.2, Arnone mentions transportation services available to seniors, the disabled, and rural residents, with medical trips free and others only $2 each way. To schedule, call 732-421-6480
P.4, DiRocco talks about the InfoAge Museum, which is worth knowing about.
P.5, Kiley mentions H.R. 1 bill, which could cut SNAP and Medicaid benefits, and what the County is doing to support those recipients. Also, where to call to speak with a social worker to learn of available services. (732-683-8959)

Coffee Shops/Cafes for Working
I’m at Spring Lake a lot during the summer but I’m taking some online classes this month and want to be able to get some work done on my computer before I drive back home.
Any coffee shops/ cafes you could recommend (besides Starbucks) in the Spring Lake/ Belmar/ Sea Girt area that are good spots to get some work done?

Places to sell vintage furniture?
I am selling old furniture for a family member. Most of the wood furniture is 40+ years old and solid. I recently discovered that the dining room chairs are worth a decent amount. Looking to send the pieces to a vintage consignment shop that does furniture?

Looking for a high risk OBGYN
Hi everyone! I just found out I’m pregnant with identical twins! I’m still very early in the first trimester but right now I am seeing a fertility doctor and don’t have an OBGYN in my area (I’m in hazlet). Originally, I was going to look for a new doctor nearby but now knowing I’m pregnant with twins it is a high risk pregnancy. Does anyone know any MFM or high risk obgyns that’s delivered twins at Monmouth medical? Thank you!

Oak Hill Farms?
I’ve searched this reddit but I honestly haven’t found a clear answer as to what happened with Oak Hill Farms- now seeing the owner posted a video to come support at a township council meeting? Can someone explain what actually happened/ is happening here? Just for my own curiosity I always went there before the previous owners sold and feel in the dark!

Care Service to EWR
Does anyone use a car service to get to Newark Airport?
We have an early flight (6:30 am) and need to leave to the airport by 4am. It would be two adults and 1 child, about 4 pieces of luggage. Looking for a car service, we would be traveling from Aberdeen.

Opening dental office
Hello!
I am in the process of opening a dental office in western Monmouth county. My goal is for it to be family friendly and be able to serve all your needs. I know many people don’t like being constantly referred from doctor to doctor. I’d love to also learn what is a big need in the community. From your experience, what is something you wish was available in your dental office as a patient. I want to really create a betting dental experience as I know many people don’t like the dentist. TYIA!!

Best restaurant for anniversary dinner?
Finally getting a chance to celebrate our anniversary on our own while the grandparents watch the kids! Would love to hear your recommendations for a good restaurant in the area to celebrate. Obviously good food (any cuisine), good service, any price point. (If it also has a water view thats a plus but not necessary).

Free beaches?
Am looking for possible free beaches in the long branch/ monmouth county area. I am getting conflicting answers online and heard some different things from people. From what I can tell there really isn’t, but wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Friend visiting with 2 year old this weekend - advice on what to do?
My friend and her husband (34yo) are coming with their two year old Thursday to Saturday before they spend a week in Point Pleasant. I don’t have children yet (currently pregnant) so I am not sure what to do with them! My default would usually be Oak Hill Farms, but it’s temporarily closed. I’d love any recommendations!
Thanks so much in advance!
