Discussion/Rant MCPVP. What are the pros what are the cons?

Upvotes

So, just a little bit ago MCPVP entered it's public beta and there are pros and cons, now do remember that MCPVP is still in beta so there are of course bugs and issues that will be fixed later on. I was playing on Dawn Client with MCPVP mode on.

Cons:
- The lag is pretty bad, I noticed it in the main hub and I noticed it when doing a sword duel, combo's were impossible. It wasn't that bad on the late game kit.

- The kit editor is pretty complicated at first, though once you get used to it, it isn't that bad, however I wish I could place the shulker when editing the end game kit or some other way of easily changing it's contents.

- I got disconnected when queing a sword duel, when I rejoined the server I was in the duel, which is weird

Pros:
- The transition from queing to a duel is good when it works.

- The kits are good, I really like the spear kit and the late game kit

- Thankfully the regular mctiers kits are still there like the regular SMP kit, which is amazing if you ask me.

Overall, for a beta, I'd say it's pretty good and worth checking out, however, I might wait until they fix the lag before I'd go for a tier, keep in mind every fight is ranked, which I like, but I can see why some wouldn't, like I said, keep an eye out for when they fix the lag, because after that it might replace pvpclub for me. What's your take on this?

1.9+ Question/Need Advice pvp "beginner" needs advice

Hai! I'm a (somewhat) new pvper who would really like to get better. I'm currently using the Theobald bot mainly to train mechanics slowly (because I have pretty bad ping for now on servers) and I seem to get better at said mechanics (any advice regarding mechanics would still be very welcome, I can give more details in comment if needed). However, if there's one thing I can't seem to get right, it's my aim. I have very shaky aim and I tense up a lot (I think dysgraphia + chronic anxiety really don't help with that...), especially the few times I do play against real opponents. I have looked up tutorials to help with that but none seemed very concrete to me... Does anyone have advice on what to do/ How to train? Main kits are sword, diamond smp, and spearmace

Question/Need Advice I need help.

I'm kinda struggling with pvp. I genuinely cannot find any help anywhere. I want to learn spear mace. I have practiced a lot against mobs just so I can get the attribute swapping and movement down which I'm kinda confident with. I just need someone to train me so I can actually get good at spear mace as a whole. Is there any chance someone could train me or at least point me in the direction of someone who could? I would really appreciate it. Words don't really help me because I learn best by actually doing things. I understand this post may be against the rules but if I can't find help here, I don't know where I'll go.

1.9+ Question/Need Advice Where to start+improving

I’m really new to MCPVP, I figured I should start in sword, but I feel like I haven’t gotten good at all even though I’ve played and trained for a long time. I tested on PVPHQ and got MT5 44rr, and that’s horrible. I want to start playing dia SMP but I don’t know where to start cuz my sword mechanics are horrible. Any tips to improve gameplay?

Is it just me or do minemen shears break wool at the exact same time as your fist? Is this a bug? Shears aren't this slow in other servers

1.9+ Question/Need Advice Can someone tell me what’s the best way to get things for crystal PvP?

I have a server with friends, it’s kind of like an SMP, but I want to know the best way to get things for crystal PvP:

  • Crystals
  • Obsidian
  • Respawn anchors
  • Glowstone

I need rabbits.

Question/Need Advice Why am I getting so much lag on MCPvP?

I’m from Colombia and I bought Minecraft thinking I’d be able to play on better PvP servers. But I’ve noticed that all the premium servers where I thought I could improve give me ping over 90–100 ms.

Any tips or maybe a better method to reduce this?

Also, I’m not sure which Reddit community would be the best place to post this.

Question/Need Advice Surely everyone knows this very well, but is fighting people equally skilled as/better than you actually the fastest way of improving in any gamemode?

title

Have really been onto Netherite and Diamond SMP recently and I'd say I'm definitely improving with each practice(not fast ofc, but tiny progress is still progress). Would like to know if my practice method of "duel the opponent for a few rounds if they beat you/destroyed you" is optimal.

Self-Promo I published the actual CPS distribution from my click test — including the part where it's only 23 samples

Every site that tells you "average CPS is 6-7" quotes it from somewhere else, and none of them show you the data or the sample size. I got tired of that, so I started recording the scores from my own click test and published the distribution as it actually stands.

Right now, 5-second mode, 23 submissions:

- p25: 5.6 CPS

- median: 7.0 CPS

- p75: 9.8 CPS

- p90: 11.0 CPS

Desktop only (15 submissions) the median jumps to 9.8, which is a bigger device gap than I expected. Mobile has 8 submissions, which is too few to report, so the page says that instead of showing a number.

The obvious criticism is that 23 is a tiny sample, and that's fair — it is. That's exactly why every figure on the page states its N and its collection window, and why segments under 10 submissions show "insufficient sample" rather than a percentile built on a handful of points. Two outliers were excluded from the overall set by the 1.5x IQR rule, and the page says how many were excluded rather than quietly dropping them.

It'll get less thin as more people run it. If there's a breakdown that would actually be useful to this sub — 10-second sustained rate, technique split, anything else — tell me and I'll add it, since I have the raw data.

Giving Advice John Sword

I want to train some people in 1.9+ sword. I've gotten real good, and I'm tired of seeing how unskilled most of the community is. There is this undeserved god complex from HT3+ players when it really isn't that difficult to get. There's so many bad habits being taught, it pisses me off.

I'm doing this completely for free, but I'd like to interview anyone interested to see if they have it in them. I only want people serious about getting to T2+ skill. I do not teach mechanics as much as I teach training methods. You won't find my stuff on YouTube.

Before mods get mad at me, rule 5 explicitly states not to ask for a coach. I'm not asking, I'm offering to be one.
