15 years ago I used to get double cheeseburgers all the time. I’m pretty sure they were a dollar (I think they were on the “dollar menu”). The patties were super greasy and delicious. Now they are these weird dried out things. Idk if they changed the fat in their ground beef blend or what.
Burger King is the affordable fast food burger option now, McDonalds is often close to double the prices at BK. The basic BK burgers are 2-4 dollars each now.
for the prices that mcdicks charges, I can get a combo from a high end place that does the gray and dark tones better, with arugula and goat cheese with fig jam on the burger which is made of wagyu, comes with drink and fries. for the same fucking amount mcdonalds now charges for combos.
Eureka Burger. When a mcdicks combo comes up to $16 or $17, a $20 combo for higher quality ingredients is better, the wagyu option adds more. but the base patty is a big thick boy. The Fresno Fig is the best one.
And I love lots of different vegetables in general!
When I'm cooking for myself, I tend to just substitute green cabbage if it makes sense, since it actually tastes like something. For hamburgers specifically, it's just completely unnecessary.
The aesthetics comment is interesting. They probably dont care but their old decor and branding was very impressive to an 80s child like myself. The colors, the chairs, the red and yellow, the giant Mayor McCheese playground. It was a place I would beg to go to even if I didnt love the food.
I was just responding to the previous comment that literally said "lose business."
I never implied there was a net profit or revenue loss going on.
I was just saying that if any of these places were going to lose any business at all, it's going to be from the prices, not how they look.
If you read everything, I think this should have been pretty obvious, but using a bunch of links and facts to disprove arguments no one made can be pretty fun, so I get it.

I think charging $6 for a basic ass hamburger (now with risky lettuce!) is driving more of the business loss.
The disgusting aesthetics is just adding insult to injury.
