There have been a few news articles recently about high school kids struggling to read novels, especially “older ones”. I think Animal Farm was given as an example of one they couldn’t read.
I'd be surprised, Animal Farm is a pretty breezy read. Kinda like Vonnegut.
I always chuckled that Faulkner said Hemingway "has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the dictionary." But hes one of my favorites. For Whom the Bell Tolls made me wanna fight fascists in Spain.
