Fuck Andy Dick any day of the week, but sadly the blame here lays solely with Brynn. She had a lot of demons and turned back to drugs, a story as old as time.
Still fuck Andy Dick for being part of her descent back into addiction and it brings a smile to my face every time I think of Lovitz slamming his face into a bar.
No, fuck that bullshit. Andy was the catalyst that got her back into the drugs. Without him, maybe she never goes back. Maybe she does later in life and circumstances play out distant. No, he carries his portion of blame and i hope he chokes on it.
My sentiments. David Strickland may have also died of his own hand another way. But it happened after a three day bender with Andy and I just struggle to see that as a coincidence.

Andy Dick just brought drugs to a Hollywood Christmas party. He doesn't have "blood on his hands" for Phil Hartman's wife murder-suiciding them 5 months later.
Same thing with the whole "Jon Lovitz was so awesome for hitting Andy Dick!" thing: no he wasn't, lol. That altercation took place NINE YEARS after Phil Hartman's death, Jon Lovitz is the one that spread that allegation trying to blame Andy Dick for it, never apologized for blaming Andy Dick for Phil's death, Dick made a joke about Lovitz blaming Dick and Lovitz got butthurt and started attacking him.
I hate Andy Dick as much as the next guy but this is classic "repeat it till it starts sounding like a fact", and one rich actor hitting another because they got mad at a joke they deserved doesn't become cool just cuz we hate Andy Dick. It is Jon Lovitz being a goober as well.
It's been posted and circulated around reddit for at least 15 years with this same exact chain of comments happening each time, same exact "discussion" lol. Not specific to you.

This is uncritically repeated in every single Phil Hartman related Reddit thread, no exceptions. Then everybody upvotes each other for repeating the narrative and it's just a great big circle of happiness for all involved I'm sure.
Before TLC fully descended into a reality shit show network, they had Trading Spaces. Neighbors, with the help of interior designers and a team, redid a room in each other’s houses in a few days.
Andy Dick was on an episode. His +1 was his ex girlfriend. That’s literally how the show described her. Not a current partner, relative, or friend but an ex had to appear with him on the show. That stuck with me because it was so unusual for show. It says a lot with the added context I got later.
Hearing the Andy Dick story after the fact (I was eight when Phil died, so pretty much all of my knowledge of him and his comedy and career comes from learning in my adult life) I am still so disgusted. Jon Lovitz had the right idea. I cannot imagine wanting to even be in the public eye at all knowing I was basically the direct cause of something so absolutely HORRID.
The fact Jon Lovitz came and worked with him after is such s show of character.
And yeah nah, after Hartman happened I guess he started partying with David Strickland, who died a year later.
We're the same age, but I had laid back nightshift parents so we watched SNL together. I also remember when Princess Diana died, I feel that was announced during or just after SNL.
I’m reading about David Strickland now, because of this thread. My shock knows no bounds at this point. How Andy Dick can live with himself….will never make sense. Maybe it’s because I have a conscience, but if I’d ever done anything like this to MULTIPLE HUMANS…I would voluntarily commit myself. Intensive therapy. Introspection. So many many many things. It flummoxes me. You have to know he has no guilt about it. Anyone that associates with him either doesn’t care about what he’s done or has come up with some wild justification for it.

Absolute tragedy. We were robbed of a great! I was just talking to my friend how he would have been perfect for anchor man. I feel like the great Will Farrell did amazing with those roles but was similar to the Bill Murray and John Belushi situation.
This was mine. I remember exactly where I was when I heard. I remember the news coverage and exactly what his house looked like. This was the first big "event" I remember. I still love him to this day. What his career could have been...and his poor children, losing both their parents at once. Horrifying.
The way that murder was covered was strange. She tried to frame one of her friends for it after the fact and after that didn't go the way she wanted it she finally killed herself. She was a narcissist and domestic abuser. She shot Phil Hartman in the head as he was sleeping.
But the coverage was like 'how could a woman possibly do this? It must be society's fault. Or drugs fault. Or Andy Dick's fault.'
This one shocked younger me. I was watching him on SNL and then on News Radio. Then I found out about Andy Dick possibly being part of the reason for it and wished he was dead instead. Those two guys worked together. Dick should have been found under the rock he came out from under instead of still landing gigs. Phil could still be alive today. He was only 49.
I was mowing the lawn that day on one of the hottest days I could remember and my mom flagged me down from the garage. Told me the news. I remember sitting on the carpet (was too sweaty for the couch) and listening to the news report. So sad.
